The Abounding Joy Herald Gathering in Joy - Reaching Out with God’s Love
Thursday, July 15, 2021
Pastor Tom’s sermon will be posted to our church website and http://www.ajlcmc.org as soon as possible after the service. This Sunday’s theme is “Righteous Sheep”—to prepare, you’ll want to read:
Jeremiah 23:1-6; Ephesians 2:11-22; and Mark 6:30-44
IN OUR PRAYERS: Carl Batdorf, Kathy Erickson,
PRAYER REQUESTS may be made by phoning or emailing a request to our Prayer Team coordi-nator Betty Batdorf: cell: 291-5141 and/or [email protected]. She contacts the prayer team for prayer. Daily prayer will be of-fered for one month. If you wish to have con-tinued prayer, please submit a new request.
THANK YOU to the Family of Troy Feist for shar-
ing the many beautiful flower arrangements that were given in Troy’s memory.
WE EXPRESS OUR CONDOLENCES to Denny and
Tammy Holland and family on the death Sun-day of Tammy’s mother, Margorie Peterson.
HEY BASHFUL LUTHERANS…on our weekly ser-mon videos that are posted on YouTube, only the first four rows of chairs (and their occu-pants) on the pulpit side are visible on the screen. So, even when we have well over 100 people in attendance, because so few sit up there, the sanctuary appears almost empty. You’re invited to sit up front on the left side so people at home can see that our church is back in full swing after the pandemic shutdown.
NEW ADDRESS for Dolly Swenson is: 2410 20th Ave. SE #112, St. Cloud 56304 Phone number: 320-534-0711
The Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, July 18, 2021 Worship is at 9:00 am
Three Worship Options: In-Person, Drive-in (88.5 FM), Video Message
SHARING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS
THIS WEEK’S TIP: One of the most important components of being able to confidently share the good news of Jesus with others is, knowing what we believe. The key parts of the Gospel story are: God created a perfect world. He made us in order to live a life of trusting in Him and caring for one another. We rebel against God and His will for us. As a result, we are separated from God and others. Jesus’ death and resurrection have taken away our sin. Through Jesus, God the Father declares that we are forgiven. In the gift of Holy Baptism, we die to the old and rise to a new life of faith: trusting God and caring for one another.
THANK YOU to the men who joined their voices in the Men’s Chorale to bring us the Prelude last Sunday. A belated Thank You to the wom-en who participated in the Women’s Chorale in June; and a big THANK YOU to Ginny Shimota for her willingness to share her musical creativi-ty and energy. All of you add to our worship service in sharing your musical talents in praise.
THANK YOU Dean and Penny Peterson for your
donation of the beautiful concrete bench in the Joy Garden.
FLOWERS TO SHARE We realize that this has
been a tough growing season with hot sun and dry conditions, but if you have flowers from your garden or would like to purchase a floral arrangement for the altar area, please sign up on the sheet on the info table. If flowers are in memory of, or celebration of someone, contact Marilyn ([email protected]) before Wednes-day noon so it can be included in the Herald.
HAPPENINGS AT ABOUNDING JOY
OFFERING PLATES are not being passed due to
Covid precautions still in effect. The plates are at the side entrances into the sanctuary. If they have already been picked up as you exit, you may place your offering on the desk in the of-fice or in the clear plastic window-bin to the right of the office door.
FAITH MATTERS:
Q: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would you ask for?
A: #1, that every church member would notify me, or the church office, when they are hospi-talized so that I’m able to pray for them, visit them, and support their family; #2, that all Abounding Joy members would put my cell phone number (320.291.2287) into their phones’ contacts so that when I call them they’ll know it’s me, answer the phone, and not ignore the call thinking it’s someone trying to sell them an extended car warranty; and #3, I’d ask for ten more wishes.
