SHARING THE GOOD NEWS OF JESUS

THIS WEEK’S TIP: One of the most important components of being able to confidently share the good news of Jesus with others is, knowing what we believe. The key parts of the Gospel story are: God created a perfect world. He made us in order to live a life of trusting in Him and caring for one another. We rebel against God and His will for us. As a result, we are separated from God and others. Jesus’ death and resurrection have taken away our sin. Through Jesus, God the Father declares that we are forgiven. In the gift of Holy Baptism, we die to the old and rise to a new life of faith: trusting God and caring for one another.

THANK YOU to the men who joined their voices in the Men’s Chorale to bring us the Prelude last Sunday. A belated Thank You to the wom-en who participated in the Women’s Chorale in June; and a big THANK YOU to Ginny Shimota for her willingness to share her musical creativi-ty and energy. All of you add to our worship service in sharing your musical talents in praise.

THANK YOU Dean and Penny Peterson for your

donation of the beautiful concrete bench in the Joy Garden.

FLOWERS TO SHARE We realize that this has

been a tough growing season with hot sun and dry conditions, but if you have flowers from your garden or would like to purchase a floral arrangement for the altar area, please sign up on the sheet on the info table. If flowers are in memory of, or celebration of someone, contact Marilyn ([email protected]) before Wednes-day noon so it can be included in the Herald.

HAPPENINGS AT ABOUNDING JOY

OFFERING PLATES are not being passed due to

Covid precautions still in effect. The plates are at the side entrances into the sanctuary. If they have already been picked up as you exit, you may place your offering on the desk in the of-fice or in the clear plastic window-bin to the right of the office door.

FAITH MATTERS:

Q: If a genie granted you three wishes, what would you ask for?

A: #1, that every church member would notify me, or the church office, when they are hospi-talized so that I’m able to pray for them, visit them, and support their family; #2, that all Abounding Joy members would put my cell phone number (320.291.2287) into their phones’ contacts so that when I call them they’ll know it’s me, answer the phone, and not ignore the call thinking it’s someone trying to sell them an extended car warranty; and #3, I’d ask for ten more wishes. NEW AS OF MAY 23, 2021 Please read this so that you are clear on Abounding Joy’s

policy regarding the wearing of face-coverings

at our worship services!

CHANGES IN COVID-19 POLICIES AT ABOUNDING JOY

Effective immediately persons may, but are not required to,

wear face-coverings while attending events at our church.

Our communion servers will wear masks while distributing

the Lord’s Supper so that all feel comfortable

coming forward to receive the sacrament.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll gradually be rolling back other

restrictions that have been in place at

Abounding Joy for the last 15 months.

If you are not comfortable with this policy, please consider

worshiping from your vehicle in the parking lot

by listening to the service on FM 88.5 and

driving up to the front door

to receive Holy Communion.
