All market lambs and meat goats to be exhibited at the 2014 Delaware County Fair, must be weighed in on Saturday, May 3, from 9 - 11 a.m. in the Sheep Barn at the Delaware
County Fairgrounds.
All male animals must be castrated prior to the weigh-in. There is a $2.00 fee per ear tag, so please bring the
correct change.
Any 4-H’er or FFA member who plans to exhibit at the Iowa State Fair may also weigh in their state fair animals.
There is a $7 fee for each market lamb or goat identified as a possible state
fair entry.
Retinal scans will be done on any market lamb or meat goat identified as a possible state fair entry. Exhibitors or members of their families will be required to hold their animals. To prevent delays for those who are not planning to show sheep or goats at the state fair, the weigh-in is divided into
two sections.
9:00 - 10:00: Exhibitors who ARE
NOT identifying any lambs or goats as possible state fair exhibits may begin
weighing in at 9:00 a.m.
10:00 - 11:00: Exhibitors who ARE identifying at least one potential state fair lamb or meat goat may begin
weighing in at 10:00 a.m.
Animals that will be shown in breeding classes do NOT need to be weighed in, but you will need to include them when you identify them in 4-H Online
by May 15.

IMPORTANT!
4-H PLEDGE
I PLEDGE MY HEAD TO CLEARER THINKING, MY HEART TO GREATER LOYALTY, MY HANDS TO LARGER SERVICE,
AND MY HEALTH TO BETTER LIVING, FOR MY CLUB, MY COMMUNITY, MY COUNTRY, AND MY WORLD.
Every June, over 1,000 teenagers
converge on the campus of Iowa State
University for 3 days full of speakers,
workshops, mixers, dances, a
banquet, and community service
activities.
If you've completed 8th grade, you're
eligible to attend. You don't even have
to be in 4-H to attend this conference!
You will get to experience campus life,
and meet new people from across the
state! You will be having fun while
learning by doing, dancing the nights
away, and serving the community.
You will get to learn new things to
take back to your community and
school, and in the process you might
even discover something new about
yourself!
If you have a specific interest in
animal science, you might want to
look into becoming part of the
ROUND-UP track! We'll also have a
special track devoted to agronomy,
called CSI: Crops.
The regular $175 registration cost is
reduced to $43.75 for Delaware
County 4-H members due to the
generous support from 4-H
Foodstand funds.
Applications are available online at:

State Conference
4-H Volunteers and Leaders The Delaware County 4-H
Foundation is looking for clubs to
donate a “basket” of items for their
silent auction at the fair. These may
be themed around 4-H, sports,
hobbies or really anything. Also, if the
club has another idea please contact
Michaela and we can see if it will
work. Be creative!
Youth in Action Food Drive
Youth in Action is hosting a Food Drive this
year at the fair again The group will collect

Food Pantry throughout the year. Remember,
canned condensed soups and hamburger and
tuna helper type packages are always things
they are in need of at the pantry.
