TRANSCRIPT

RAISING UP A NEW GENERATIONTO HELP BUILD JESUS’ CHURCH.

What if you have been chosen? What if you’ve been hand picked by God to lead in His church? Chosen to be the future cluster leader, church planter, worship leader, staff member, career missionary, campus pastor or elder in His church.

What would you do to prepare?

212 is a discipleship year for you; you’ll soak in biblical teaching, grow in deep gospel community and step out in crazy adventures in mission and ministry. Full-time ministry doesn’t have to be in your plan; 212 is for you if you’re looking to grow, be strengthened in your faith and prepared to be the future leaders of the Church. We believe that God is raising up a new generation to help build His church, and that it is our responsibility to take what has been entrusted to us in the person and mission of Jesus, and strengthen and teach you to teach others also.

Did you know that 39 times in the book of John Jesus says that He has been sent on a mission into culture by the Father and then later in John’s gospel Jesus says, ‘as the Father has sent me, so I send you’? That’s why we’re here. In 212 we’ll explore together what it would look like if we press into engaging culture as missionaries.

During the 212 year you’ll serve in various Mission Tracks; bringing the gospel in word and deed to others. You might be coaching in a local high school, volunteering with a local non-profit, organizing work projects that serve the neighborhood, or serving in other ways to see Jesus’ love transform lives and our city. As well, you’ll participate in an urban-mission trip that will take you way beyond the city. Each semester you’ll also get immersed in a Ministry Track. You’ll have the opportunity to apprentice with a staff member and have practical experiences in helping shape our church for Jesus’ mission. In each of the Tracks (Worship, Communications, Youth, Kidzone and Operations) you’ll be able to get your hands dirty and learn by experience what God’s gifted you in and how He might be leading you in helping His Kingdom explode.

Jesus didn’t just give the twelve experience in ministry and mission but He also gathered them together so they could process what they were learning and be equipped for more! We love that discipleship doesn’t just happen through experience alone and want you to get time in the classroom and in mentoring relationships to be strengthened in your faith and process your experi ences.

At 212 you’ll have a classroom experience that involves high quality teaching by LEFC leadership and external teaching from the Holy Trinity Brompton School of Theology. Our learning tracks will focus on: Bible, Faith, Leadership and The Missional Church.

Jesus didn’t just send His disciples out on mission, or provide them teaching and mentorship. He invited them into His story and as they tagged along and experienced life with Him, in community together, they became more like Him. Sounds like a good deal eh? In 212 you’ll get to work out what you’re learning through living life together in mission; both as a community of interns as you journey together, but also in gospel community. While in 212 you’ll be expected to find a place of belonging within LEFC in one of our mid-size, gospel communities called Clusters. These groups are made up of 20-30 people who live life and reach out together. It’s here your growth UP, IN, and OUT will take shape for the long-term.

Okay, but here’s the deal, during your 212 year you wont just be immersed in a formal program; you’ll be living incarnationally in the world around you. As part of 212 you’ll be expected to work part-time in a job in the city. This is important not only so you can support yourself financially, but so that it keeps everything you are doing ‘real’ and allows you a place to work out the things you’re learning as part of 212.

You can expect readings and assignments! But you can also expect a very real and authentic environment. We want to focus in on and tailor classes for equipping you, as the leaders God is raising up for His church, for the glory of Christ.

In 212 you’ll also have the opportunity to grow through mentoring relationships. You’ll be paired up with leaders who will meet with you regularly. Together you’ll process the things you’re learning and experiencing in 212, journey life, and be challenged in your growth and development. You’ll also learn from our staff team as you work alongside them in ministry and engage in various staff times and experiences.

212 runs from September to April and some of the exciting experiences will be... ■ orientation week & retreat to kick it off ■ week-long urban-missions trip ■ reading & Christmas breaks ■ winter retreat (there will be snow) ■ road trip to a young leader’s conference in California (there might be surfing)

Each week will be unique but here are a few things to look forward to... ■ three days* of formal training and tracks ■ 10-15 hours of working part-time ■ two or three evenings a week in cluster, training or ministry/mission tracks ■ serving and worshiping together during Sunday morning celebrations*Days usually run from 8 am – 5 pm and have a mix of teaching, huddles, worship, prayer, eating, ministry and mission tracks- all with a random assortment of other excellent things.

Tuition for 212 is $2,000 for the year. We ask for a $400 deposit to be paid by August 1. The rest of the fees can be paid in installments throughout the year, or in a lump sum. All fees must be paid by the end of the year. Missions trip fees are additional; you’ll raise funds as a team and individually. You are expected to financially support yourself through the year and to take a part-time job.

This year is about real growth, real challenge and real transformation.
