Saturday August 16, 2003 The IEEE PES & IAS Los Angeles Chapters will host the IEEE “RED & BUFF” Color Books Seminars.
Registration & Breakfast at 7:30 AM sharp, and events ends at 5 PM. Two 3-1/2 hr. Technical Presentations on the IEEE Color Books: the IEEE RED and Buff Books.
The IEEE Red Book IEEE 141™-1993 (R1999)
The IEEE Recommended Practice for Electric Power Distribution for Industrial Plants.
IEEE Buff Book IEEE 242™-2001 IEEE Recommended Practice for Protection and Coordination
of Industrial and Commercial Power Systems.
The IEEE Red Book Presenter: Mike Paik is a PE (Elec.) with over 17 years of dirty hands engineering in heavy industry in California & overseas. He is presently a Field Engineer with Southern California Edison’s Customer Service arm. Located at the Irwindale Blvd. Office. This seminar session will overview key subjects on: System Planning, Equipment Standards, Cost Estimating, Industrial Substations: and Plant-utility considerations. IEEE Buff Book Presenter: Alan Taylor; System Protection Design Engineer with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Graduated BSEE from the University of Utah 1971, MSEE University of Southern California 1977. Worked in the System Protection Design Group for 29 of the 31 years at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. This seminar session will overview key subjects on: Principles of Protection, Short-Circuit Calculations, Instrument Transformers, Selection and Application of Protective Relays, Ground Fault Protection, Transformer protection, Bus and Switchgear Protection, Over Current Coordination. Seminar Location: Los Angeles, Department of Water & Power Headquarters Building 111 N.
