Greetings from ASQ Southeast Florida Section 1510!

We are getting closer and closer to the end of the year! We hope you have had a wonderful fall season and are ready for the holidays. The past month has been exciting. Our very own, Voice of the Customer Chair, Shawn Currie, was selected to speak at the ASQ Reliability, Maintenance, & Managing Risk Conference in San Antonio, TX. What a proud moment for ASQ 1510!

We also had a dinner meeting on October 8th, where we learned about Building and As-sessing your Team from Phil Centonze, Program Chair and Director, Client Engagement Services for FloridaMakes. Each dinner meeting attendee had the opportunity to evaluate their own team member behavioral and learn how to match optimal leadership styles to the team developmental stage. We truly experienced how “Team work makes the dream work”.

In other news, we are pleased to continue a partnership with Section 1515 with joint meet-ings! We have been doing great work and I am looking forward to the remainder of 2019. Job Title: Supplier Quality Assurance Representative

Department: Quality Assurance/Apparel Mfg.

Reports To: Quality Manager

Summary:

The Supplier Quality Assurance Representative (SQAR) will be required to work directly with suppliers to satisfy both Goodwill Industries of South Florida (GWI) and the Government’s quality standards and strategy in the manufacture of apparel. The SQAR will be required to interact with all levels of supplier management. This position is responsible for supplier quality for all suppliers but may be tasked periodically to support transition and supplier development activities and audits. This position requires extensive travel. When not traveling the SQAR will assist in the day to day quality activities at GWI as deemed necessary by the Quality Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supplier development for production of GWI fabrics, trim components and outside processes.

• Conduct Supplier Audits

• Direct communications between GWI and suppliers.

• Supplier Production Readiness Reviews.

• GWI Qualification Process for new processes and products– training, clarification and verification/validation.

• Creating supplier inspection plans for GWI and assist suppliers in developing their inspection plans. First Run/Article Inspection review/approval at supplier’s location.

• Coordinate source inspection.

• Supplier Support Requests and SCAR's closure.

• Monitor supplier performance and develop action plans to improve performance. Audits (Documentation, COC, COO, Test Reports).

• Focus on problem prevention, supplier quality control, continuous improvement, data collection and reporting, along with Supplier Correc-tive and Preventative Action related to any quality issues.

• Investigate problems, perform root cause analysis, and develop disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies (using statisti-cal quality control, data analysis, problem solving techniques, and lean manufacturing concepts).

• Investigate lead time issues

• Develop plans with engineering, suppliers, and manufacturing to ensure a smooth transition from concept to prototype to production on components and materials for new products when applicable.

• All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Management or related discipline or a combination of education and experience. Position requires 2 to 5 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Strong understanding of Quality practices applicable to the manu-facture of Apparel products, including customer and industry standards. Experience with Purchase Orders, Government and industrial specifica-tions. Understanding of basic compliance and regulatory issues.

Bilingual (English and Spanish a plus). Knowledge of Office software (Word, Excel, Power point).

Demonstrate technical knowledge, strong leadership and interpersonal skills

Possess written and oral communication skills at all levels of the organization

Experience in manufacturing

Demonstrate ability as a self-starting, self-directed individual

Experience with JD, Berry Amendment training of suppliers and compliance with contract flow down clauses
