EDUCATIONA gentleman enrolled in the Adult Education Program in 2014 and tested at the second grade reading level. A year later, he tested at the sxith grade reading level. He is now able to transition from the ESL Program into the GED Program. He is very committed to achieving his goal (completing his GED) not just for himself, but for his daughters.
508 children enrolled in high quality afterschool programs, activities and opportunities
Imagination Library increased enrollment by 385 children in 2015, for a total of 2,228
731 students are learning English in a classroom or from a tutor
INCOmEA single mother of three had been working full time for five years.A $2 raise caused her income to exceed the limit for medical benefits andSNAP. Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership and United Way impact dollars assisted with rent allowing her to catch up financially, keep her job and retain her housing. She is now able to provide for her family consistently.
$68,303 was put into savings accounts and $169,205 combined debt was paid off by financial education class participants
24,191 nights of safe shelter were provided
2,164 residents received food, rent, shelter, and other emergency assistance
HEALTH“Hannah” and her family came to the Crisis Center after years of abuse fromher husband. “Hannah” was able to connect with a bi-lingual advocate.She received assistance with safe housing education and support while navigating the court system and immigration process. “Hannah” is now living safely and working in her community.
3,342 unduplicated patients served by free dental and physician visits
433 youth attended student support group meetings for healthy relationships
262 people were served by the At Ease Program providing veterans and their families peer and clinical support
60 foster care children had their voice heard by CASA volunteers in 93 court hearings

2015 Campaign reCogniTionheartland united Way would like to thank ron Depué, aaron kunz, Jayne mann and Joe mlinar for their dedicated service and leadership in co-chairing the 2015 united Way Campaign. They coached teams of outstanding volunteer leaders in the four counties who helped raise $1,421,972. We would also like to extend our sincere gratitude to the campaign volunteers.

In 2015, the Heartland United Way awarded $30,000 in community impact grants to Hamilton, Howard and Merrick Counties. The grants were used to fund local programs and provide targeted assistance as follows: HAMILTON COUNTY ($10,000) - Hamilton County Back Pack Program, Hamilton County Food Pantry, Edgerton Scholarships, Youth Center, Hampton Auditorium, Phillips Reading Program, Giltner Book Fair,B Strong Coat and Mitten Drive. HOWARD COUNTY ($10,000) -St. Paul After School Programs and Howard County Medical Center Foundation (CARE Team). MERRICK COUNTY ($10,000) - Merrick County Childcare and Merrick County Health and Fitness Center.
IMPACT GRANTS:
