Dear Families, please do not underestimate the creativity of your children and the many mediums they can use to share their stories. My story…the white pebbles are the snow followed by the melting snow turning into water (blue pebbles), the water is running onto the grass to make it green. The white rocks in the middle with the blue balancing on top is the snow starting to melt. Spontaneous experiences are just as valuable as planned. Children and educators collaborating and challenging each other’s thoughts, ideas and experiences.

My story…

The blue rocks are the river and the green rocks are the grass on the banks of the river. The white rocks are the fish swimming in the river.

Creativity as a quality of thought…What is extraordinary in the human mind is

not only our capacity to move from language to another, from one intelligence to another; we are also capable of reciprocal listening, which makes communication and dialogue possible. Children are the most extraordinary listeners of all. They encode and decode, interpreting data with incredible creativity. Children ‘listen’ to life in all its facets, listen to others with generosity, and quickly perceive how the act of listening to others is an essential act of communication. Children are biologically predisposed to communicate and establish relationships. This is why we must always give them plentiful opportunities to represent their mental images and share them with others. – Professor Carla Rinaldi

Creating our Nature Wheel…

We should remember that there is no creativity in the child if there is no creativity in the adult. The competent and creative child exists if there is a competent and creative adult – Reggio Emilia

Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud

Dirt and water… 2 very simple and basic ingredients have and continue to be

the source of so much activity, creativity, joy, and sensory fun for children and adults. (Nature Play)

MUD PLAY BUILDS CREATIVITY – The

open-ended nature of mud play is perfect for the developing brain. There is no end to the creations, ideas and games children will invent. During this type of unstructured, outdoor play, children are not only exercising but are building their ability to form ideas, problem solve, and think critically, as well as be innovative and inventive. (Nature Play)
