During the period January-November, 2017 Pakistan's exports increased by 22% compared to

the corresponding period of 2016. This is due to increase in export of Cotton, Cotton Yam and Cotton

Textile, Articles of leather, Manmade filament, raw hides, travel goods etc, products of animal and

other articles thereof, Tools implements, cutlery spoons, forks, Plastic and articles thereof and Salt

sulpher etc.

Pakistan' s imports from Turkey during the period Jan-Nov, 2017 compared with Jan-Nov, 2016

have shown increasing trend from US$ 307.784 Million to 308.279 Million. This is due to increase in

import of Electrical machinery and equipment, parts thereof, Iron and steel and Mineral fuels, minerals

oils and product of their distillation.

2. Overview of Turkish Global Trade

Turkish export and import of merchandise and services for 2015 and 2016 in US Dollars

Pakistan's major items of Export and Import for period January-October, 2017 comparing

with the corresponding period January-October, 2016 (Calendar Years) are at Annex-A and Annex-B.

Turkey' s major items of export and import of merchandise and services (Global) in January­

November, 2017 comparing with the corresponding period January-November, 2016 (Calendar years)

are also Annexed at C and D.

3. Economy

According to the provisional data produced with the cooperation of Turkish Statistical Institute and Ministry of Customs and Trade in November, 2017 exports increased by 11.2% and reached to 14 billion 217 million dollars while imports increased by 21.3% and reached to 20 billion 53 7 million dollars compared with November, 2016. At the same month, foreign trade deficit increased and reached to 6 billion 320 million dollars. Calendar adjusted exports increased by 1.6% and imports decreased by 2.4%. In November, 2017 exports coverage imports was 69.2% while it was 75.5% in November, 2016.

As compared with the same month of the previous year, exports to the EU increased by 17%

from 5 billion 967 million dollars to 6 billion 983 million dollars. The proportion of the EU countries

was 49.1% in November, 2017 while it was 46.7% in November, 2016.

In November, 2017, the top country for Turkey's exports was Germany (1 billion 376 million

dollars), followed by the United Kingdom (908 million dollars), the Italy (839 million dollars) and the

USA (733 million dollars).

In November, 2017 the main partner country for imports was Germany with (1 billion 982

million dollars) followed by China (1 billion 981 million dollars), Russia (1 billion 906 million dollars)

and the Italy (1 billion 16 million dollars).

For November, 2017, the top categories for exports were vehicles other than railway or

tramway rolling stock, parts thereof (21 857 307 million dollars) and then boilers machinery and

mechanical appliances ( 12 511 873 million dollars), Iron and Steel (7 413 216 million dollars),

electrical machinery and equipment (7 241 753 million dollars) and knitted and crocheted goods and

articles (8 093 753 million dollars).

As the same period, the top categories for imports were Mineral fuels, minerals oils and

product of their distillation (33 327 664 million dollars) and then Boilers, machineries and mechanical

appliances, parts thereof (24 356 479 million dollars), Iron and Steel (15 194 370 million dollars),

Electrical machineries & equipments (19 051 358 million dollars), and Vehicles other than railway or

tramway rolling stock, parts (15 399 121 million dollars).

(a) Prime Minister's visit to Turkey to participate in the Extraordinary OIC Summit, Istanbul from 12 - 13 December, 2017

The Prime Minister Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi participated in the Extraordinary OIC Swrunit on Al-Quds Al-Sharif held on 13 December, 2017 at IstanbuL The summit was preceded by the Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting which was attended by Foreign Minister, Khawaja Muhammad As if.

The summit declaration states that the OIC member states recognize Jerusalem as Palestine's capital"under occupation" and urge the U.S. to withdraw from the peace process. The leaders "reject and condemn in the strongest terms.The summit was discussed the recent US decision to shift its Embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem.

The prime minister conveyed the sentiments of the people and Government of Pakistan of the unequivocal support to the people of Palestine. He stressed upon the OIC for a united stance on the issue of Al-Quds Al-Sharif and call upon the US administration to review its decision.

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Istanbul and the Embassy of Pakistan in Ankara facilitated the Visit of the Prime Minister to Turkey.

(b) Meeting with Mr. Riza ARSAN, Advisor to the Board of Directors, STFA Group, Istanbul, Turkey

STFA Holding is a major group dealing in construction, energy utility, heavy equipment and

construction chemicals. I had a meeting with Mr. Riza ARSAN, Advisor to the Board of Directors of

STF A to discuss with them possibilities of investment in Pakistan in the energy sector particularly in

coal fired energy generation. Follow up will continue.

(c) Meeting with Mr. Mustafa Acar, General Manager Finance, JODIS, lodis Life Rmv, Ltd. Sirketi, Istanbul Turkey

Jodis is a company which is dealing in formal gift packs manufacturing for distribution at festive occasions and for formal call ons. They specialize in high quality leather gift packs and I explained about to them in detail about the high quality products being made in Pakistan with leather and asked them to source these products from Pakistan. Their response was positive. Follow up will continue.

(d) Meeting with Mr. Cahit Oklap Vice President and business development & Operations Tekefen Construction, Istanbul-Turkey

I had a meeting with Mr. Cahit Ok.lap, Vice President and business development & Operations of Tekefen Construction Istanbul, and discussed with them possibility of investment in Pakistan in the construction sector. Their response was positive. Follow up will continue.

(e) Meeting with Mr. Mr. Can Berki, Sales Assistant of Messe Frankfurt Fair Organizers, Istanbul, Turkey

Messe Frankfurt is a fair organizing company which regularly holds exhibitions at its site. I in order to evaluate their fairs had a detailed meeting with their marketing staff. On the basis of this and other feedback we are evaluating some fairs for recommendation to TDAP for its participation.

-::>:-During the meeting we also discussed forthcoming Automechnik.a, Istanbul which will be held

in April 5th to 8th, 2018 and TDAP's participation in it.

(t) Farewell Calls:

Consequent to my planned departure on 31st December, 2017 I called upon all major trade houses, associations and businessmen alongwith Turkish Officials including Governor and Mayor of Istanbul.

During the meetings I thanked all of them for their support to Consulate in particular and Pakistan in general. I also briefed them about the incoming Consul General and requested them to support him in his work the way they supported me.

(f) Efforts made to project Pakistan's image in the host country:

Pakistan suffers from an image problem and a distorted image of Pakistan is displayed by the International media. It has always been my utmost effort to project the image of Pakistan as a peace loving and progressive nation. I continued my visits to various Council Generals and Commercial Sections of a number of Consulates emphasizing this. On the economic side I emphasized the growing industrial sector of Pakistan and the potential of the Economy.

Regular contact is also maintained with the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Trade. I visited various trade associations and other business houses and political houses and made small speeches outlining Pakistan's view point and its trade and investment potential.

(g) Trade Disputes Handled

Two cases of trade dispute were received from Pakistani company for necessary action. We have contacted concerned Chambers of Commerce for amicable solution of the dispute.

(h) FACILITATION

Seventeen businessmen from Pakistan were facilitated and their B2B meetings were arranged.

(i) Diplomatic Courtesy Calls and Important SociaVCultural Events

Courtesy calls on various Consul Generals based in Istanbul including, China, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Russia were made to foster bilateral trade diplomatic relations.

Besides above mentioned meetings a number of receptions celebrating national days of various

countries were attended. Some academic, social and cultural events arranged by various organizations and the host country were also attended.

Lunch and dinner meetings with Turkish businessmen I officials commensurate to the entertainment allowance were arranged.
