ALUN JAMESAlun James is a barrister specialising in all areas of tax and VAT. He has been advisingowner-managed businesses and their owners on all aspects of their business andpersonal tax planning for over 20 years. He has been co-author of Bramwell onTaxation of Companies and Company Reconstructions (Sweet & Maxwell) since 1991.As well as his Chambers at Temple Tax Chambers, Alun is also a member of ExchangeChambers, Liverpool and Manchester.

ANNE FAIRPO Anne Fairpo is a barrister at Temple Tax Chambers. Her practice covers UK andinternational corporate tax planning and disputes, acting for a range of clients fromsmall owner-managed businesses to listed multinationals, with a particular interest intechnology businesses. Anne is the author of Taxation of Intellectual Property,published by Bloomsbury Professional, and contributes to a number of otherpublications. Anne is a past president of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

JONATHAN BREMNERJonathan advises on the major UK taxes and acts in tax appeals and tax relatedlitigation before the specialist tribunals and the higher courts. He has substantialexperience of complex and high value litigation. His advisory practice has anemphasis on business and entrepreneurial tax issues.

DAVID PETTDavid is now a barrister practicing from Temple Tax Chambers. He is the author andco-editor of Employee Share Schemes (2- volume looseleaf pub. Sweet & Maxwell). Headvises on all UK tax and legal aspects of remuneration, incentives and employeeshare plans.

MICHAEL THOMASMichael advises and litigates in relation to all areas of the UK tax code. His practicecovers business tax, private client work and VAT. He has particular interest in propertytax and has been involved in some of the UK’s largest real estate transactions anddevelopment projects.

PETE MILLER Pete formed The Miller Partnership in April 2011 to offer expert advice to otheradvisers on all business tax issues. Apart from the transactions in securities rules,specialist areas include reorganisations, reconstructions, HMRC clearances, disguisedremuneration, the new Patent Box relief and taxation of intangible assets. Pete hasworked in tax for over 25 years, starting as an Inspector of Taxes in 1988 and stayingfor nearly 10 years, working in Birmingham and London before posts in Policy Divisionand Technical Division. He then worked for 11 years in ‘Big 4’ firms.

Pete speaks and writes regularly on tax issues and is a member of the editorial boardsof Taxation, The Tax Journal and Simon’s Taxes and a consulting editor toTolleyGuidance. He is co-author of Taxation of Company Reorganisations (4th edition,Bloomsbury Professional, June 2012) and author of Tolley’s Tax Digests on DisguisedRemuneration, the Substantial Shareholdings Exemption and Transactions in Securities.
