AsITarchitectureevolvesfromdistributedtocentralizedequipment,userscanremotelyaccesspowerfulapplicationsindatacentersandonworkstationswiththinclientsorlaptops.Asthemarket’smostpowerfulremotedesktop,TGXmaintainsstorage,compute,network,andremotevisualizationstandardsforgraphicsintensiveapplicationsonbothMicrosoftandLinuxplatforms.
UtilizingaremotedesktoptoaccessinformationonaworkstationorinadatacenterrequirestwoTGXcomponents:aTGXsenderandaTGXreceiver.TheTGXsenderresidesonaremotemachine—aworkstation,abladeserverinadatacenter,oravirtualmachine—thatrunspowerfulapplications.TheTGXreceiverapplicationresidesontheuser’slaptop,desktopcomputer,Surfacetablet,orthinclient.
Theconfidenceofhigh-qualityimagesandspeedempowersuserstoaccesscompanyworkstationsorvirtualcomputersremotely.Whetheruserscollaboratewithothersorworkontheirown,theyexperienceapplicationsinreal-timewhileenjoyinghighqualitygraphicsandafluiduserinterface.

AUTOLOGON
TGXwillusethereceiveruser'scredentialsonthelocaldevicetoautomaticallyauthenticatetheTGXconnectionandinitiate(logon)orreconnecttoadesktopsession.
COLLABORATOR
UsersotherthanthedesktopownerthatareconnectedtothesenderviaTGX.
CREDENTIALS
Theinformation(Domain,Username,andPassword)requiredbyTGXtoauthenticatetheuserandinitiate(logon)orreconnecttoadesktopsession.
CROSS-PLATFORM
Ifthesenderoperatingsystemisdifferentthanthereceiveroperatingsystem,itisconsideredacross-platformconnection.
DESKTOPLAYOUT
Thenumber,resolution,andrelativepositionofthelogicaldisplayscomprisingthedesktopsession.
DESKTOPSESSION
Thedisplays,environment,andapplicationsmanagedbytheoperatingsystemforauser.
DESKTOPOWNER
Theuserthatownsthecurrentdesktopsession,typicallythefirstusertologintothesendereitherdirectlythroughthesenderconsoleorindirectly,viaaTGXconnection.
DPI
The"dotsperinch"measurementofadisplayordesktop.
Note:Someoperatingsystems,e.g.Win8+,supportautomaticadjustmentoftheDPIforlargeresolutiondisplays.
FINGERPRINT
AuniquenumberwhichisareducedrepresentationofanSSLcertificate.Thisisusedtovalidatetheidentityofthesystemfortheintendedconnection.Thishelpspreventman-in-the-middleattacks.
MINIMAP
Ifthesender’sremotedesktopresolutionislargerthanthereceiver’sTGXwindowordisplays,theMiniMapwillappearallowingtheusertoselectthevisibleregionoftheremotedesktop.
RECEIVER
ThelocalcomputerthatdisplaysandinteractswiththeremotedesktopofthesenderviaTGX.

SENDER
TheremoteworkstationwhosedesktopandapplicationsaresharedbyTGXtoareceiver.
TGXSESSION
Theperiodwhereatleastoneuser(desktopownerorcollaborator)isconnectedtothesender’sactivedesktopsession.
CONNECTTOAREMOTEDESKTOP
ConnectingtoaremotedesktopwithTGXallowsyoutoviewandinteractwiththeremotedesktoponyourlocaldevice.Keyboardandmouseinputfromthelocaldevice(thereceiver)willberelayedtotheremotedesktop(thesender),whichinturnsendsallgraphicsandaudiotothereceiver.ThehostnameorIPaddressofthesenderisrequiredforconnection.
1. LaunchTGX.• TheTGXiconshouldbeavailableonyourlocaldesktopafterinstallation.• YoumayalsolaunchviatheStartmenu.
o Windows7:Start→AllPrograms→MechdyneTGX1.10→TGXo Windows8or10:Start→Allapps→MechdyneTGX1.10→TGX
2. EnterthehostnameorIPaddressfortheremotedesktop.
3. SelectthedesiredoptionunderSettings.RefertothecorrespondingsectionunderDisplayConfigurationSettings.
4. ClickConnecttoconnecttothehostserver.
5. Enterthelogincredentialsrequiredtoaccesstheremotedesktop.
6. ClickOK.

FINGERPRINTEXCEPTION
Ifthisisafirst-timeconnection,orifTGXhasbeenreinstalledonthesendersystem,afingerprintexceptionmayoccur.Thefollowingoptionsareavailable.
• SelectAddExceptiontopermanentlystorethefingerprintofthehost.• SelectJustOncetotemporarilyacceptthefingerprint-thisexceptionwillappearagainonthe

TheHelpmenucanbeaccessedatconnection,byclickingthequestionmark.Thefollowingoptionswilldisplay:
GETLOGS
Requestsanddownloadsthelogsfromthesenderandcombineswiththelocalreceiverlogs(userauthenticationforsenderrequired).Userwillbepromptedtosaveacopyofthecombinedlog.Anotificationwillappeartoconfirmsuccessandprovidealinktothesoftware_support@mechdyne.comemailaddressfortheusertosendthelog.
ENABLE/DISABLEDEBUGLOGGING
Enables/disablesdebuglogsuntilthelauncherisclosedortheoptionischanged.Thisistypicallyenabledwhenmoreinformationaboutthereportederrorisneeded.Thesupportteamwilladvisetheusertoenablethisoptionwhennecessary.Ifdebugloggingisenabled,theoptionwillreadDisableDebugLoggingandviceversaforEnableDebugLogging.

LaunchesthefolderthatcontainstheuserdocumentationforTGX.Usercanselectthedocumentationneeded.

DISPLAYCONFIGURATIONSETTINGS
Thesender’sdesktoplayout(numberofdisplays,resolutions,andpositions)canbereconfiguredtomatchtheconfigurationofthephysicaldisplaysconnectedtothereceiver.ThedisplayconfigurationoptionscanbesetontheTGXLauncher,underSettings.Tomodifydisplayconfiguration,thefollowingisrequired:
1. Theuseristhedesktopownerconnectingtoaneworpreviouslydisconnectedsession.2. Thesenderisconfiguredtoenabledisplayconfiguration(thedefault).3. ThesenderhardwareisaNVIDIAQuadro,GRID,orTeslagraphicscard.

IMAGEQUALITYSLIDER
TheImageQualitysliderisaperformanceindicator.TGXoutperformsotherremotedesktopapplicationsbyminimizingbandwidththroughefficientcompression,therefore,itistypicallyunnecessarytochangetheperformance.Thedefaultvalueof68onthesliderishighlyrecommendedtoproducegreatimagequalityatgoodframeratesforthemajorityofusecasesandnetworkconditions.However,ifthesender-to-receiverinherentnetworkbandwidthislimited,itmaybenecessaryfortheusertomovethesliderlefttoselectalowerimagequality(whichwillreducethebandwidthrequirements).OnawiredLAN,theusermaymovethesliderrighttoincreaseimagequality(whichwillincreasethebandwidthrequirements).ThemaximumTGXimagequalityisapproximatelythatofaBlu-rayvideo.TGXwilladjustperformanceaccordinglytofitwithintheavailablenetworkbandwidthandlatencyconditions.Currently,theImageQualitycanonlybeadjustedwheninitiatinganewTGXsession;however,thisfunctionwillbeavailablefromthetoolbaroftheTGXwindowinafuturerelease.

Thehostnamedropdownboxwillstorethemostrecentsenderconnections(upto20).Typingonthehostnametextfieldwillautocompletefromthelistofstoredsenders.EachstoredsenderitemhasanXtodeletethesenderfromthelist.Witheachsender,thefollowingpreferencesarealsostored:Host,WindowMode,RemoteDisplays,andImageQualitysettings.

TheTGXtoolbarcanbeaccessedbyclickingthewhitechevronatthetopcenteroftheTGXwindowonWindowsandLinuxreceivers(thetoolbarishiddendefault).TheMacOSXTGXreceiverutilizesthestandardMacmenubar.TheTGXtoolbarallowsforchangingtheframerate,viewmodeandresolution,disconnectingfromtheremotedesktop,andaccessingtheoptionsmenu.TheTGXtoolbarcanbehiddenbyclickingthechevronagain.

TGXsupportscopy/pasteofplaintext,formattedtext,Exceltables,andimagesaspartoftheClipboardfunction.TGXdoesnotsupportcopy/pasteofanentirefileaspartoftheClipboardfunction.ThedesktopownerisabletoaccesstheClipboardofboththesenderandthereceiverandhasbi-directionalcontrolbetweenbothclipboards.Collaboratorshaveone-waycopy/pastefunctionalityfromthereceivertothesender,ifthedesktopownerenabledtheirinput.Forcross-platformClipboardoperation,onlyplaintext,formattedtext,andimagesaresupported.
AUDIO
Audiooutputfromasenderissharedwiththereceiver(s).ThevolumeoftheaudiofromthesenderiscontrolledusingthevolumecontrolsliderintheTGXtoolbaroneachreceiver.IftheTGXwindowisminimized,thesoundispausedonthereceiveruntiltheTGXwindowisrestored.

Whenthereceiver’smousecursorisovertheTGXwindow,thecursoriconofthesender’smousewillbedisplayed.Themousecursorofacollaboratorthatdoesnothavemouse/keyboardcontrolwillbeindicatedbyanX.Thefollowingsystemkeycombinationswillbetransferredfromthereceivertothesender:ALT+TAB,anyWindowskeycombinations,andmenukeycombinations.Thefollowingsystemkeycombinationswillnotbetransferred:CTRL+ALT+DELETE(thiscapabilityisprovidedintheTGXtoolbar),Windows+L,andmulti-mediakeys.
