scheduled for Tuesday, February
10th 2015 @ 6:00 at the expo.
The 4-H Shooting Sports Club will
meet on Tuesday, February 24th @
6:30 at the Holiday Inn Express.
Educational programs of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service are open to all people without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information or veteran status. The Texas A&M University System, U.S. Department of Agricul-
We have a new team member on board, Ag Agent, Zach A. Davis. He’s working hard on getting the 4-H program up and running full steam
ahead. He and his family are new to the area, so stop by and welcome him to Glen Rose. Let’s show him what makes us unique! You can reach
him via e-mail at: [email protected].
Record Book Workshop Coming Soon! Start recording information and taking pictures for your record book.
We’re working on hashing out all the details for a record book work-
shop and will let you know the date and time once it’s confirmed. Be
sure to document your project well, whether it be an animal project,
food and nutrition, etc. You’ll need community service and leadership
too! So volunteer to lead the pledge, set up for a 4-H club or project
meeting or coordinate a community service project. Call us if you have
questions.
All of your projects looked great. You put in the work and it paid off. Now it’s time to
get those Thank You letters in. Your letter must be turned in to the extension office and
if you have a pen at the livestock barn it must be clean to receive your check. Letters
must be turned in by 4 pm Tuesday, February 3rd. I will let you know when the
checks arrive. Remember none of this is possible without the contributions of the buy-
ers. If you happen to see your buyer out and about, make sure to thank them in person!
Range & Plant ID Shelly Smajstrla, April Planer and Jennifer Miller
have stepped up to lead this project. If you are in-
terested in participating, please let us know. Prac-
tice will start soon. The district contests are Fri-
day, April 10th and entries are due in our office by
Thursday, March 26th. Want to learn more... Click
here or give us a call.

5pm March 2nd. You may e-mail them to me by clicking here or
if you prefer you can bring them in on a disk or jump drive. Dis-
trict photography contest entries will be due March 16th. You can

Meeting Change Due to spring break falling the
week of our regularly sched-
uled meeting, we will meet a
week later in March. Our
March 4-H meeting will be
March 17th at 6pm.
The Extension office will be closed February 16,2015 in honor of Presi-
dents Day. If you need something while we are out, please call and leave
us a message or shoot us an e-mail and we will get back to you when we
return on the 17th. ~ Zach, Brianne & Cassidy
County Round Up This year’s County 4-H Roundup will be held on Tuesday, March 24th. Be thinking
about topics for Educational Presentations and Share-The-Fun contests. This is your
chance to have fun individually or with a group in acting, dancing, singing or playing mu-
sic in Share-the-Fun. Educational Presentations teach us how to create and
present information on a topic, complete with visual aids like a power point presentation,
references, and a question & answer session.
Both are GREAT projects and teach skills you will use all the time in school, college and
as an adult!
There will be 7 categories offered for Share-the-Fun:
Celebrate 4-H (a skit or song about 4-H and why it’s great)
Choreographed Routines (dances, synchronized performances)
Dramedy (comedy/drama)
Musical/Instrumental (instrumental only, piano, fiddle, etc.)
Poetry
Solo/Band Performance (instrumental or vocal combo)
Vocal (a capella or with a recording)
Each entry may have 1 to 9 participants. If you’re interested in participating, please con-
tact the County Extension Office.
District Round-Up will be April 18th in Meridian!

Extra-Curricular Activities & 4-H Eligibility
As an educational agency, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service supports the Texas Education code
and academic responsibility of student 4-H members. The Extension sponsored 4-H youth programs must
comply with provisions of the Texas Educational Code in order for the 4-H program to maintain status of an
extracurricular organization.
When 4-H members participate in competitive events or when a member is participating in any 4- H
event that will require him/her to be absent from school, the Extension Agent must submit a written
request to the appropriate school official prior to the activity. The school will determine if the students
are eligible for participation and notify the agent. If parents have any questions they should contact the
school administration.
