PRESIDENT Di’S REPORT
Hi Everyone
October saw our visit from our DG Les Crossman and
his wife Lynne it was encouraging listening to his
ideas for his term. Les and Lynne certainly do the
kilometres over their year of being a DG.
President Joan and some of her members from Noosa Heads Lions also visited
for our DG dinner. It was lovely to hear from her as well.
This is the time of the year when we are all gearing up for various events as well
as our own family Christmas.
The car parking is just around the corner let’s keep our fingers crossed for
great weather. The long range forecast is sunny, thunderstorms and only some
rain.
I want to congratulate the Australia Day and our Events committees on securing
what looks like an amazing Australia Day 2016.
Some of our members went to the Ubobo convention I am looking forward to
hearing about it as well as seeing some photos.
Our barefoot bowls day looked like a fun day, sorry we missed it. Paul and his
Social Committee are doing a great job with outside socializing.
If any of you are on Facebook don’t forget to like our TNLC page and feel free
to send myself or Chris Pullin anything you would like us to share on the FB page
to get our message out there.
We have some new members which is great and we welcome you all. Please don’t
be afraid to ask our members any questions you have.
All the best fellow Lions thank you for being you.
President Di

NEXT FUNCTION
CHRISTMAS PARTY, SUNDAY 6th DECEMBER
Invites will go out next week
FROM OUR MEETING 20 Oct. 2015 – (thanks to Rosemary Luyendyk)
Our special guest for the night was the District Governor Les Crossman and his wife Lynne, and the
meeting was attended by members of the Noosa Heads Club.
The DG was introduced by President Di form our Club, and thanked by President Joan from Noosa
Heads Lions.
The District Governor, Les Crossman, a Lion since 1997, spoke of our international president and his
goals of Dignity, Harmony and Humanity. He then shared some significant pins and his goal of
forming a new club in the area during his term of office. He related that “ask one’ has been our most
positive campaign to attract new members and pointed out that the year 2017 will be very
significant for Lions. It will be the Lions Centennial and he would like to see each club create a

project to ‘leave something to the community’ in that year. President Joan thanked Les for his words
and bannerettes and pins were exchanged.
Also at the meeting, was the Induction of New Member Ezekiel Melizza by District Governor Les
Crossman. Ezekiel was sponsored by Chris Pullin.

FAREWELL to PETER HALLMAN (thanks again to Rosemary)
It was with sadness that club members heard from Peter Hallman, at our meeting on October 6th,
that he and Carolyn were leaving the club.
Peter has had a long and active involvement with the club. In 1998, while positioning a transportable
home, he met neighbour John Crossley (another long time Tewantin Noosa Club member – now
living in Perigian). John insisted Peter join Lions which he did, serving with distinction. He was
President in 2004/5, and was instrumental in negotiating and running our major fundraiser – the car
parking at Noosa Heads over the Christmas and now Easter peak holiday periods.
His absence immediately brings the need for a new co-editor of the Pelican Brief and an assistant
organizer for the Christmas car parking.
Peter and Carolyn have sold their home and are initially moving to Illuka before most likely
returning to the outskirts of Brisbane to live. Peter has been a member of the club since 1998 and
plans, like Carolyn, to keep in touch with friends and activities here.
Thanks for all your work in the Club, your fellowship, and very best wishes for your future.
(Note: Assistant editor has been filled, Ian Mackay has volunteered to help, and assistant organiser
for the Christmas Car Parking is Trevor Coad.)
RECENT HAPPENINGS
Report from Schools Liaison Officer, Helen
On Wednesday 28/10/15, President Di Cooke presented a cheque for $1500 to Tewantin State
School Principal, Ms Corrie Connors.
This cheque will fund the purchase of a Literacy Intervention Computer Program, known as a Mini -
Lit Kit, specifically designed for use with children who have learning difficulties in
Literacy/Reading/Comprehension.
There are many children in the junior classes (Years 1 - 3), who have learning difficulties in the areas
mentioned, and the Principal was very appreciative of our Club's support.
Ms Connors also assured us that a photo and an article will be included in the School Magazine, so as
to ensure that parents are informed.
Bunnings BBQ on 10th
October
The last Bunnings BBQ was extremely
successful and busy, especially at lunch
time.
Is this a record set by Steve, Adele, Pam
and Rosemary? 8 packs of sausages sold
between 12.00 and 1.00. Almost 180
sausages or 3 per minute.
