BoosterpaQ Terms:Zone _ _ _ _ = The name for the entire BoosterpaQ. The BoosterpaQmay be named A or its name might be its own serial number. Thename will appear in the upper left hand corner of most PMUparameters. For example, Set A or Set 900 (for BoosterpaQ withserial number 900).

PMU 2000 = The Grundfos operator interface on the door of thecontrol panel.

PFU 2000 = The Grundfos controller mounted on the back panelinside the control panel.

The PMU Lights:• Flashing GREEN = the BoosterpaQ is ready to run.

• Solid GREEN = at least one pump on the BoosterpaQis running.

• Solid RED = there is either an “actual” fault or a historicalfault.

Turning the BoosterpaQ ON/OFF:Turning the BoosterpaQ ON:

• Push the On/Off button on the PMU.

• Push the + or – key until “ON” appears, then push the ENTERbutton.

Turning the BoosterpaQ OFF:••••• Push the On/Off button on the PMU.

••••• Push the + or – key until “OFF” appears, then push the ENTERbutton.

Turning the Pumps ON:• Push the On/Off button on the PMU.

• Use the down arrow key to scroll to each pump.

• Use the + or – key until “ON” appears, then push the ENTERbutton.

Changing the SETPOINT MAX.:• Push the SET button to reach the set menu.

• Push the ENTER button to reach the setpoint max. menu.

• Use the + key to increase the setpoint max. to the desired pressure.

• Use the – key to decrease the setpoint max to the desired pressure.

• Push the ENTER button.

• Push the ESC button twice to get back to the main menu.

Checking the STATUS of the BoosterpaQ:• Push the Zone Status button. Push the ENTER button.

• Use the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys to scroll throughthe menu.

“Setpoint actual” = the discharge manifold pressure the PFU2000 is working towards achieving. This value will be the same asthe setpoint max. unless one or more of the influences are activeand lowering the setpoint actual.

“Actual value” = the actual discharge manifold pressure.

“Prepress.” = the suction manifold pressure. This menu does notappear when a liquid level switch is used in the suction manifold.

“Speed ” = indicates the number of pumps running, expressed as apercentage.

A half-size pump running at full speed is 50%.A full-size pump running at full speed is 100%.

EXAMPLE

If the PMU displays SPEED 175% max. 200%

• This is a BoosterpaQ with 2 full-size pumps (200%).

• One of the pumps is running on a drive and it is running at75% of full speed.

• One of the pumps is running Direct-on-Line and is running at100% of full speed.

Checking and Clearing ALARMS on the BoosterpaQ:• Push Alarm Horn button to display the fault log.

• Use the UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW keys to scroll through themenu. The PMU stores the last ten alarm codes with time-datestamps on each alarm.

Date format: DD-MM 22-7 is July 22Time format: 24 hour 11:51 is 11:51am 23:51 is 11:51 pm

> Push the ENTER key to clear an alarm from the PMUmemory. You must do this for each alarmin the log.

> Pushing the ENTER key also “resets” the controller and theBoosterpaQ will attempt to restart.

Alarm Codes:• Mains drop = The power to the PFU/PMU was interrupted. This is

normal when the power is turned off to the BoosterpaQ.

• Speed Cont. = A fault occurred in the variable frequency drive(VFD). This fault only applies to MF or MFH BoosterpaQs.

• Water shortage = The liquid level switch or pressure transducer inthe suction manifold is indicating “water shortage.” If theBoosterpaQ has a liquid level switch, be sure there is no air in thesuction manifold.

If the BoosterpaQ has a pressure transducer, be sure there is atleast 2 PSI in the suction manifold and check PMU parameter 231 tobe sure it is set correctly. If parameter 231 is set to 0, the watershortage protection is disabled and the pumps are no longerprotected.

• Max Limit = The pressure in the discharge manifold has exceededthe maximum limit value in the PMU (see parameter 238).

GRUNDFOSBoosterpaQ® QUICK OPERATIONS

• Min Limit = The pressure in the discharge manifold has fallenbelow the minimum limit value in the PMU (see parameter 229).

• PFU _ _ _ _ = The PMU cannot communicate with the PFU.(a) check the fuse in the PFU, (b) check the communication wiresthat run between the PMU and PFU, (c) the PMU may have failed.

• Pump 1 Fault* = The manual motor protector (MMP) for motor/pump 1 has tripped.

*This same fault applies to pumps 1-8

On ME/MEH systems, this same fault will appear if the drive on thepump has faulted. If ALL the pumps are faulted, check the voltage/phase monitor. The incoming voltage and/or phases are not correctand the voltage/phase monitor will not allow the BoosterpaQ torun.

• AI1 Fault = The discharge sensor signal is out of the correctoperating range. Check all the electrical connections to thesensor.

• AI2 Fault = The suction sensor signal is out of the correctoperating range. Check all the electrical connections to thesensor.

Using the EMERGENCY/NORMAL Switches on theBoosterpaQ (optional):

• Each switch directly energizes the corresponding pump DOLcontactor. On ME or MEH BoosterpaQs, the switches are wiredinto the input that tells the drive to run at MAX speed.

• When ANY of the switches are in the EMERGENCYmode, the power is removed to and from thePMU and PFU.

• ALL protection functionsare d isabled while in theEMERGENCY mode. It isup to the operator toensure the system doesn’tdry run, over-pressurize,or overheat due tolack of flow.
