BACKGROUND

The second National Food and Drink Conference is to be held in Perth on 7th March 2012 and will celebrate the achievements of people the length and breadth of Scotland, from community groups to industry who help bring The Scottish Government’s National Food and Drink Policy to life and make its achievements real.

The conference will showcase how The Scottish Government Food, Drink and Rural Communities Division and its partners have delivered on education, health, environmental sustainability, industry growth and much more. There will be a bustling marketplace within the venue which will provide helpful information and tasty Scottish treats for everyone to enjoy.

The conference will be well attended and the organisers wish to provide the many delegates with re-usable shopping bags as they will most likely pick up a lot of things in the marketplace. Rather than only having the Scottish Government logo on the bags something new and interesting is required to promote Scottish locally produced food and drink so that people can associate with this specific aspect of the Scottish Government’s work. At present there is no recognised logo for the National Food and Drink Conference, so a new logo is required (in conjunction with the Scottish Government logo) which will be printed on the shopping bags.

NEW LOGO REQUIREMENTS

The Scottish Government require a new logo to be designed for the National Food and Drink Conference which should reflect food and drink that is Scottish in origin.

It must be professional and complement the stature of the Scottish Government Food, Drink and Rural Communities Division, the conference and its aims in promoting locally produced food and drink.

The logo must be acceptable and meaningful to all target audiences which will encompass delegates, government staff, food and drink producers and their customers.

PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS

The logo must be immediately recognisable and it must be crisp, clear and easy to read.

Keep it simple as too much detail may mean that the logo doesn’t reproduce well when viewed at different scales across a range of media.

If your entry is hand drawn, it must be clear enough to be scanned.

The logo must be restricted to no more than 4 Pantone colours (one of which must be the Scottish Government logo “Pantone 300” blue). Please also take into consideration that the logo will also be used in black only at times, and as a white out of colour.
