Echidna Room
In the Echidna Room this term we have been enjoying reading ‘Charlotte’s Web’ as a whole class. We’ve been extending our vocabulary as the book has lots of new words for us to learn. Students have been working on writing a descriptive paragraph about the setting of ‘Charlotte’s Web’. Students attended a Rap 4 Change workshop at Wallabadah PS last week where they learnt how to become a DJ and how to be a Rap Artist. The PCYC conducted a box fit class which the students thoroughly enjoyed. Students are looking forward to what the PCYC have in store for us next week!
Rainbow Serpent Room
We have been preparing for CAPERS and our Grandparents’
Day celebrations. We have a very special
presentation to show our Grandparents on the day.
The students have been enjoying our Snack Program each
day and practising Acknowledgement of Country in language.
Our reading is improving each day as we read our readers
and practise our coloured words. We are all moving up the
coloured words ladder.
Practising our number work each day is very important and
we enjoy beating the clock on our number challenges.

Lightning Ridge and Brewarrina Excursion
We went on a School excursion to Lighting Ridge and Brewarrina in the first week back from holidays. The weather was hot for our whole trip but when the eleven of us got to Lighting Ridge we went to the pool and it was so cool! One hour later we went to go and have Chinese and Spaghetti Bolognese for dinner at the Bowling Club. After having dinner at the Bowling Club we went to see an interesting movie about opals. The next day we went to the Australian Opal Centre and we looked through the rocks and we looked for bones and fossils. After this we went on the Blue Car Door Tour which included the Bottle House which is a house made of glass bottles. It was amazing! We also saw a cactus nursery. After going to the Bottle House we had burgers and went to the John Murray Art Gallery. Later we went 40 feet underground in an opal mine that had a little opal shop and lots of interesting sculptures. It was very cool underground and it smelt like clay and wet dirt. It was quite a strange feeling knowing we were a long way underground. Then we went shopping and some kids bought presents for their families then we went back to the pool, hooray! After going to the pools we went and had dinner at the Bowling Club again then we went to the bore baths and the water was 38 degrees! After that we watched Alvin and the Chipmunks Road Trip and went to sleep. The next morning we had breakfast and then we went into the Lightning Ridge Central School classrooms and then after that we went to Amigos Castle. We went to the lookout and there was a house made of cans and bottles and there was a maze with a little teddy bear in the middle of the maze then we left and we headed to Brewarrina.
When we got into Brewarrina we went to the Ancient Fish Traps Museum and a man called Brad Hardy showed us around in the museum. After that we went to the fish traps then we dropped off our gear at the school and we played for an hour then we went to have dinner at the Four Mile Reserve where we chucked big rocks in the water. As we were driving back to Brewarrina we saw three emus and they ran away but there was one emu that got stuck in the fence! Mr Davis went to go and help the emu but it got out and escaped. After Four Mile Reserve we went to the school and had ice cream and fruit salad, played some board games and ping pong, had a hot Milo and then went to sleep. We all slept in the Clontarf room together. The next morning we walked around Brewarrina Central School and as we left Briseis and Curtis saw their Aunty who works at the school and then we went to see their Uncle Jason. Then we started to head home. We stopped at McDonald’s at Narrabri and then stopped in Gunnedah for ice cream to cool off. We got home at 3 o’clock just after school finished. Overall we had a fun time. We got along well and we learnt a lot about far north west New South Wales.
