CORE VALUE Respect, Honesty and Integrity

We treat each other as we would like to be treated. We communicate in a thoughtful, yet sensitive manner.

We are aware that as teachers we are role models.

EMAIL ADDRESSES

It is of vital importance that we have a current email address for each of our members, as the majority of our contact with customers is conducted via email. Recently, our Internet Service Provider advised many Hotmail servers are currently listed on "Spamcop" RBL and hence most emails that come from Hotmail/Live email accounts are being marked as spam and therefore being rejected. If you have a Hotmail or Live email address, you will not be able to email JGDC. Please advise us asap of an alternative address we may use to contact you, via email to [email protected] or the Change of Details form in the eforms tab of our App. Please note that you will still receive emails from JGDC, however you will not be able to reply to them.

AUDITIONS AND PERFORMANCES Auditioning and Performing with Production Organisations or High School programs is a fabu-lous opportunity for our students and we encourage them to do so if they have a passion for dance. We have had a number of students who have auditioned for Golden Grove High School and the Australian Classical Youth Ballet and love to share their success with all of JGDC. If your child is auditioning for a specialist dance program or a performance opportunity, please let us know via their class teacher or the office so we can support and encourage them and share when they are successful.

UPCOMING SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAMS We have been busily planning three exciting School Holiday Programs for July. There are two programs for students aged 3, 4 and 5 years on offer. Both sessions are de-signed by Jane Grech, Director, and involve dance and song, art and craft, literacy activities and time for shared morning tea. JGDC students are welcome to invite non JGDC students as long as they are comforta-ble leaving Mummy or Daddy. Parents are welcome to stay for the workshop, how-ever will be asked to sit in the waiting area for safety reasons. Get in quick to avoid disappointment.

Meet the JGDC Team! JGDC has grown in the last few years and as a result so has our staff team. We thought it would be great for us to introduce you all to a few of our staff mem-bers each newsletter and let you know why they are a valuable and important member of JGDC and help to make it such a great place to learn dance.

Leia Martin, Administration Officer and Production Manager Leia is quite often one of the first people many parents will communicate with when they contact our office. Leia works in our office taking enrolment bookings, parent enquiries and keeps our da-tabases and rolls all up to date. Leia has also recently taken on the role of Produc-tion Manager. In this role Leia manages venue book-ings, costume sizing and communication to parents in regards to all of our perfor-mances as well as many oth-er behind the scenes tasks to make the performances run smoothly.

CORE VALUE

Continuous Improvement / Quality and Expertise We work hard and can always do better. We are never happy with the status quo.

We turn problems into challenges.

Students attending our Level 4, Prelude, Transition and Major 1 & 2 classes have already or will be receiving Communication books via class. These books provide the Teachers with an opportunity to share information with parents about their child’s dancing and also enable parents to communicate with the teacher any injuries, absences or other relevant information. Please have a read through the cover letter in your child’s Academy Communication book and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

CANDANCE FOR A CURE 2014 On Saturday 24th May, our JGDC Performance Team members performed at CanDance for A Cure at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. This event combines a MASTERCLASS for Classical Ballet Assessment Students with an AUDITION for any student wishing to be considered for one of the Solo Roles in THE NUTCRACKER end of year Academy Performance. The classes will be conducted by Interstate Teacher and Assessor Kylie Lavery. This is to provide students equity in the offers made for solo roles. The oppor-tunity also provides valuable ‘audition’ experience for those that may require it in the future. These classes will be held on Sunday 6th July 2014 at a cost of $10 plus book-ing fee. Parties at Jane Grech Dance Centre have been delighting chil-dren and parents for one year now! To celebrate our one year anniversary AND the launch of a brand NEW Parties website, we ran a competition on Facebook to name the Party Ballerina! The winner was Lyndall Mor-phett Hully with the name “Katerina” which had 124 likes! Lyndall received 50% off her next party booking. Congratulations to Lyndall and thanks to all who entered!

JGDC has two official Face-book pages. The public JGDC page is for general news. Click this link to like our page. Please also request to join the JGDC (closed) Group page. This page is for Mem-bers Only information rele-vant to JGDC families. This is a great way of sharing and obtaining information as soon as it becomes availa-ble., sharing open day & concert photos and con-necting with other Members of the JGDC Community. To request to join the ‘JGDC group’ page, please click here.

Congratulations! Congratulations to Monique, Rhiannon, Casey and Yasmin on ac-ceptance into the Golden Grove High School Special Entry Dance Pro-gram for 2015. We know you will enjoy all the extra dance classes you will have next year and look forward to seeing you develop your dance further. JGDC has had a number of students participate in this pro-gram and we are certain you are going to enjoy this program as much as our other students have. If you have a student in Grade 6 at school who you believe would be interested in auditioning for one of the Spe-cial Entry Dance programs available through Golden Grove High School or Charles Campbell High School next year our Principal, Kelly Larcombe is happy to arrange a meeting to discuss best preparation for these auditions.

GET THE NEWS AS IT HAPPENS! Recently we conducted a Facebook poll we asked the question, would you prefer to hire or buy your costumes? Thanks to those who responded— we had a whopping 112 respons-es! At this stage, the feedback indicates a prefer-ence to retaining the current system of BUY-ING costumes at the price of $35 per costume (Club) and $50 per costume (Academy). It is getting more and more difficult to purchase (nice) costumes within these budget re-straints, and so, should we be required to in-crease the costs in future years, we put this

question forward again to the parents of the current JGDC community. We are committed to making Performance time as stress free as possi-ble, and to keeping dance as affordable as possible. Click on the link to the left to join the JGDC Facebook Community and have your say!

discounted party rate for JGDC members!
