School aendance rate targets are embedded in our School Improvement Plan as having our students at school makes a difference to academic, social and wellbeing achievement. From this week, I will report our percentage of students aending, and the percentage of students aending at above 90% of school days per term. A 90% aendance rate means that your child has missed 20 days of school (four full weeks in total) across the year. It has been a very difficult me recently with various illnesses and of course we would not want any sick students to aend school, but if they cannot aend for any reason please let us know as soon as possible. If you need any support in geng your children to school on me, please let us know as we are available to support. Please see our current aendance rates against targets to date. P&C Meeting Many thanks to the trusty crew of families who aended the P&C meeng on Monday night. In very excing news, the Tocal Commiee was able to report a profit from the Field Days Fundraiser of just over $24,000. This is the result of a huge amount of planning and sheer hard work and I am sure many much bigger schools would struggle to make such a significant contribuon through fundraising. Aſter some discussion, it was decided to allocate a large amount of those funds to a playground equipment upgrade and I am currently seeking some opons and esmates. Check-In Assessment Results In 2020 a new oponal online assessment was introduced to assist schools to gather data on reading and numeracy for year 3 and 5 students as NAPLAN did not take place last year. We opted to parcipate, and as a comparison we administered the same assessment to year 4 and 6 students this year to track progress. There are some very pleasing results, which are summarised in the table. The data from 2020 informed school planning and resourcing and the data indicates that our programs have had a significant impact, although there is sll some work to do. Ongoing data analysis of the 2021 results, paired with addional data sets, will give us rich informaon about how to connue to grow our academic results. SSSG refers to schools with similar profiles to us in terms of socio-economic status and some other factors. Learning Boost Program Our Learning Boost program has started Phase 2. This program is for students who are achieving at expected level in the classroom and who would benefit from a Boostin certain areas to assist them to reach their full potenal. Students are idenfied through classroom data. In Phase 1 leading up to this point, the focus was on reading and there were some outstanding results. We have moved our focus to numeracy this term. Principal’s Report Term 2 - Week 5 ~ 21.05.2021

Attendance

Regular attendance at school is vital for success in education. School attendance rate targets

are embedded in our School Improvement Plan as having our students at school makes a

difference to academic, social and wellbeing achievement. From this week, I will report our

percentage of students attending, and the percentage of students attending at above 90% of

school days per term. A 90% attendance rate means that your child has missed 20 days of

school (four full weeks in total) across the year. It has been a very difficult time recently with

various illnesses and of course we would not want any sick students to attend school, but if

they cannot attend for any reason

please let us know as soon as possible.

If you need any support in getting your

children to school on time, please let

us know as we are available to support.

Please see our current attendance rates against targets to date.

P&C Meeting

Many thanks to the trusty crew of families who attended the P&C meeting on Monday night. In very exciting news, the Tocal Committee was able to report a profit from the Field Days Fundraiser of just over $24,000. This is the result of a huge amount of planning and sheer hard work and I am sure many much bigger schools would struggle to make such a significant contribution through fundraising. After some discussion, it was decided to allocate a large amount of those funds to a playground equipment upgrade and I am currently seeking some options and estimates.

Check-In Assessment Results

In 2020 a new optional online assessment was introduced to assist schools to gather data on reading and numeracy for year 3 and 5

students as NAPLAN did not take place last year. We opted to participate, and as a comparison we administered the same assessment to

year 4 and 6 students this year to track progress. There are some very pleasing results, which are summarised in the table. The data from

2020 informed school planning and resourcing

and the data indicates that our programs have

had a significant impact, although there is still

some work to do. Ongoing data analysis of the

2021 results, paired with additional data sets,

will give us rich information about how to

continue to grow our academic results. SSSG

refers to schools with similar profiles to us in

terms of socio-economic status and some other

factors.

Learning Boost Program

Our Learning Boost program has started Phase 2. This program is for students who are achieving at expected level in the classroom and

who would benefit from a ‘Boost’ in certain areas to assist them to reach their full potential. Students are identified through classroom

data. In Phase 1 leading up to this point, the focus was on reading and there were some outstanding results. We have moved our focus to

numeracy this term. All participating students will bring home a letter outlining the program in more detail in the next few days.

Upcoming Events

All the best to our soccer team who will play two games in a gala day on Monday, and to our debating teams who will participated in a hotly contested debate on Tuesday – Paterson PS year 5 vs Paterson PS year 6. Thank you to our teachers for their organisation.

Semester 1 Academic Reports

Our semester 1 academic reports will come home to students on the Tuesday of the final week of school prior to the holidays. There are

no formal parent teacher interviews this term, but please feel free to contact your child’s teacher to discuss any aspect of the report.

With thanks,

Mrs Hazell

What’s New In 2/3! 2/3 have started a new novel study this week “Fantastic Mr Fox” by Roald Dahl. Students have loved listening to the first few chapters and have enjoyed learning how Mr.Fox outwits his farmer neighbours to steal their food from right under their noses.

We will be completing many literacy and numeracy lessons linking to the novel over the next few weeks. Our first activity asked students to research some interesting facts about foxes to give us some background knowledge about the main character, Mr Fox.
