TRANSCRIPT
The SRC has had a very busy term trying to get ready
for all our upcoming events. It’s week 7!. In other
words, 4 more weeks left until Term 1 Holidays.
Previously this term we have held our SRC induction,
our first SRC meeting as a whole and started planning
the events for each term.
The SRC induction was a successful feat, with a
multitude of students receiving their badges and sitting
their first meeting on Wednesday of Week 5 of after an
amusing icebreaker of ‘Priest of the Parish,’ the SRC
collectively discussed and decided on this term’s
activities surrounding a farmer’s challenge for the Blaze
Aid (set to ensue on 20th March) and a disco. Students
involved with the organisation of the Farmer’s
Challenge, namely Hamish, Harrison, Tyson, Jessie,
Chantal, Amelia and Jordan, have been busily creating
posters expected to be placed around the school – so
remain alert for any adverts. Below is the SRCs plan for
the activities to run each term:
Term 1 -Farmer’s Challenge (Blaze Aid)
We have decided to run a day where all proceeds will
go toward Blaze Aid. Blaze Aid is an organisation that
has been going around fire affected areas to help
farmers rebuild fences and to get their farms back on
the right track. We as an SRC feel that this was an
important cause that our school should get behind.
Disco
The disco is going to be a fun outlet for students to
relax and enjoy themselves in. The SRC thought that it
would be fun to organise and get people involved in.
Potential shade for the basketball courts
At the end of last term, the basketball courts got very
hot, we decided that as an SRC the potential of having
shade put over them. We found that this would be very
expensive and put it on hold till this year. We have
decided that we would still like to go ahead with trying
to get shade put over the courts and look forward to
seeing the project complete.
Term 2 -Trivia Night
The SRC has decided to run a trivia night in Term 2 for
the students . We thought it would be a fun event that
everyone could participate in.

Term 1 Week 7
School Fete
The school fete is an event that is run every two years. As
the SRC we thought it to be important that we participate
and help out in as many ways as possible.
Term 3 -R U OK Day
The SRC runs an annual R U OK day to make sure that our
student body is ok. We believe that it is an important day
to have for the mental and physical wellbeing of the
students at HCS.
Jeans for Genes day
Each term we have tried to plan to have an event that let
the students have fun but also put money into an
important cause. This year in Term 3 we have decided to
do a Jeans for Genes day where students will be able to
wear their jeans to school for a donation, all proceeds will
go to the foundation.
School Musical
The Musical is an event that the school runs every second
year, as the SRC we thought that we would try and help in
as many ways as possible to make the event a success.
Term 4 -Water Activities
At our planning day in 2019 we decided that it would be
very fun to have a day that everyone could enjoy. It was
decided that this could be a water day, students and
teachers would be able to have a fun afternoon on the oval
filled with water and games.
If you have any ideas or queries to bring into the SRC
concerning potential activities, changes to the school or
just pure questions, don’t hesitate to talk to either of the
Captains or SRC members. All – if not most input is
welcome.
And finally, a brief word to all our fellow students
struggling with school (as Timon from the Lion King so
eloquently put it): “Look, kids. bad things happen, and you
can't do anything about it. Right? Wrong!” When you’re
sitting at your desk, struggling with learning, make sure you
take in every word know what you can do to achieve your
aspirations, no matter what!
Regards,
School Captains, Priyanka and Charlotte.

The Big Veg Crunch
Veggies are awesome! We celebrate vegetables of all shapes and sizes at HCS. Primary students tried new tastes this week from our 'tasting platters' including: tomatoes, beans, broccoli, hummus, cucumber, celery, tzatziki, mushrooms, corn and more! We joined with about 60,000 other NSW students to simultaneously CRUNCH our veg together. YUM!

Well-Dressed Lamb
Claire has gained a full scholarsheep to HCS and is fitting in nicely. Might as wool fit her for the school tunic too.
