PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Week 10 and Term 1 is nearly finished, I would like to wish all our families a safe and relaxing holiday. The students have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their learning over the past ten weeks and deserve a holiday. Congratulations to all of our students who have achieved their first level in the Home Reading program, remember that reading in the school holidays counts towards the next level.

I would like to invite our school community to join our students and staff in the ANZAC day assembly on Friday 13th April starting at 9.30am. ALL students are also invited to march with the school on ANZAC Day on the 25

th April.

Students will need to wear school uniform and meet Mr Rudd on the grassed area behind the ANZAC memorial at 11:00am.

Students from Pre School to Year 6 are more than welcome to attend and join the Tuggerah Lakes Learning Community for this special event and march behind our school banner. Parents are responsible for bringing their children to and from the event and assisting where possible for supervision purposes.

Date: Wednesday April 25

Location: The Entrance Memorial Park, The Entrance. Time: 11:00am arrival

We begin our march at 11:30am

A reminder that the toilets at school are for The Entrance Public School students use only. Visitors to the school throughout the day including before school, in the morning and afternoon pick up, that need to use the toilets need to see the office and be directed to a staff or visitor toilet. Thank you for your assistance with this issue as it is for the safety of our students and is a child protection issue.

K-6 B NEWS Pikelet Drive

We are so proud of our students for running a very successful Pikelet Drive.

The effort and enthusiasm they displayed on the day was remarkable. They worked so hard, serving over 800 pikelets to students and staff! But their huge smiles, welcoming approach, positive attitude and growing confidence as they interacted with students and staff made all the hard work worthwhile. Congratulations K6B. You are awesome!

STAGE 2 NEWS

Week 10 already! This brings us to the final newsletter for Term 1 2018. A BIG thank you to all our parents and carers who came out to support our Easter hat parade last Friday, the children really enjoy you being there to make the day that little more special. The creativity

and effort that went into some of the hats was wonderful. For the Love of Reading

Mr Bob Dunne from the Lions Club, presented our Stage 2 students with their chosen texts and book bags at a small presentation assembly afternoon, on Tuesday the 3

rd of April. These books

are for the children to keep and read at home to help build and foster a love of reading. Thank you again to The Lions Club of The Entrance and all you have done for our students at The Entrance Public School. Special mention also for Ms Bayfield who organises this opportunity for our Stage 2 children!

Cross Country is 10.30am this Friday 6th

April, after our

whole school assembly. This year we are holding the event at school, Mr Stephen has mapped out an appropriate course and the children are familiar with its outline. We will be starting with our seniors and Stage 2 students are expected to run straight after recess. All

parents/carers are welcome to attend and help cheer our runners along. The P&C will be running a BBQ and serving sausage sandwiches during recess, on the day. Be sure your child wears their sports uniform and appropriate footwear for this event. A refillable water bottle or an extra bottle is recommended. Whole School Assembly – This Friday 6

th April in the hall,

starting at 9.30am. 4H have been busy rehearsing and will be performing an item for everyone to enjoy. All parents and carers are welcome to attend and then stay for our Cross Country Carnival. Yulunga Games Session – Next Friday 13

th April, Stage 2

students will be participating in our annual ‘Yulunga Indigenous Games Day’ at 12.00pm. This exposes all students to the experiences and traditions of our nation’s first people and closely aligns with our PDHPE curriculum. It will be a fantastic way to end the term off. Be sure your child wears their sports uniform on this day. School Disco is organised for Tuesday 10

th April, a

reminder that there are behaviour conditions that enables students to attend the school disco. If a child has had 3 referrals to the Planning room, a warning of suspension or a suspension this term, they are unable to attend this event. The children are aware of this condition. Thank you for your support on this matter. Have a happy and safe break with your family and friends over the school holidays and we look forward to seeing you all back refreshed and ready to learn, on Tuesday 1

st May,

for Term 2 2018.

STAGE 3 NEWS

Hello Stage 3 Parents, As we approach the end of Term 1 for 2018, I would first like to thank all the wonderful parents who have supported our stage so far. This includes the parents who have helped to keep our students organised by providing their children with equipment for learning and parents who have

donated boxes of tissues and hand wash to classrooms. Thank you so much!

CARES

CARES will take place in the last week of school (10th April for Year 5 and K/6B and 11th April for Year 6). Students attending will NOT need to bring their bikes, just their helmets. A helmet will be provided for students who do not bring one on the day. There are NO canteen facilities at CARES. Students are required to bring recess, lunch and a drink with them. Please do not order food from the

canteen. We will be leaving school at 9:30 am and arriving back at 3pm. Please see your child’s classroom teacher if you would still like to attend but were unable to pay in time. School Hats and Uniforms

A number of students in Stage 3 have been wearing the wrong hat to school. Please ensure that your child is wearing a school hat/ green hat as this forms part of our school uniform. Students not wearing the correct hat will have to play under the cola during recess and lunch.

It is a requirement for all students at TEPS to be wearing full school uniform. Stage 3 are role models and leaders of the school. It is important for them to set an example and wear their full school uniform with pride. A note needs to be provided to the classroom teacher if they are out of uniform. Stage 3 Camp to Canberra

We will be providing more information regarding camp in the near future. Please continue to encourage your children to come along for an awesome experience. If you have any concerns about your child being away from home, please make contact with your child’s classroom teacher or myself. We expect all students attending to consistently display safe and fair behaviours in the lead up to camp. Headphones

Our classes have limited headphones to share. We encourage students to please bring their own headphones to use during Google Classroom activities. Headphones can be purchased from KMart from as little as $2 through to $20. Please

do not let your child bring any expensive headphones to school i.e. Beats by Dre, BOSE etc. The cheaper, the better. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask your child’s classroom teacher or myself. Kind Regards Miss Martinez - S3 Relieving Assistant Principal Mrs. Robinson, Mr. McInnes, Mrs. Chaffer, Mrs. Bayfield and Mr. Lonergan

The LaST News (Learning and Support Teachers) Books in Homes

Some lucky students not only received three beautiful books at the recent Book Giving Assembly but they also got to hear and watch children’s book illustrator and comic book artist Matthew Lin. Matthew gave a presentation showing some of his illustrations and murals and then he drew two drawings for our school library. I have included Matthew’s facebook link to view more of his talented work. Thank you to Mingara Recreation Club for their generous donation towards this program.
