Service• A coin toss will be used to determine the server and the receiver. The winner of

the coin toss will be allowed to determine if he or she will be the server or receiver. The opponent will then get to choose which side of the court to stand on.

• The server must stand behind the right side of the centre hash (deuce court) behind the baseline and must serve from the boundaries of the singles court or within doubles court if playing doubles.

• Server must not serve the ball until the receiver is ready.• Serves from the deuce court have to land in the opponent’s deuce court similar to

that from the advantage court.• “Let” will be given if ball hits the net but enters correct service box in the first

serve. Second serve will not be given a “let”. • Server has two chances to get serve in. • ‘Fault’ is call out if first serve fails to get in. • ‘Double fault’ is call out if second serve fails to get in.• ‘Foot fault’ (server stepping on baseline before contact is made) will cause server

to lose points on a second serve.• At the end of the first game, the Receiver shall become Server, and the Server

Receiver

Receiving• Receiver is allowed to stand anywhere on the court but must let ball bounce in the

service box before attempting the return. Server will be awarded with the point if opponent attempt the return before the ball bounce on the service box.

Special Rules for Doubles• The service is a fault if the ball touches the Server’s partner or anything he/she is

wearing/carrying. • If the ball served touches the partner of the Receiver, or anything which he/she is

wearing or carrying, not being a ‘let’ before it hits the ground, the Server wins the point. (assuming the receiver didn’t return).

• Partners do not have to "alternate" in making returns. In the course of making one return, only one member of a doubles team may hit the ball. If both of them hit the ball, it is an illegal return. Mere clashing of rackets does not make a return illegal unless it is clear that more than one racket touched the ball

Say A decides to serve first. B will decide on the order themselves.
