B.I. CONSTRUCTION WORKS

B.I.1. INFRASTRUCTURE WORKS B.I.1.a. LAYER OF WHITE GRAVEL PARTICLES EMBEDDED IN A COLORLESS RESIN FINISH APPLIED ON A CONCRETE SUPPORT The previously executed concrete support (by the EXPO S.p.A.) will be covered with a layer of white gravel particles embedded in a resin finish, forming a non-skidding layer. The base layer (concrete) has to be well dried before applying the primer and the gravel particles. The applied resin-binder, the primer will have a maximum 15mm thickness, including the gravel particles. The white gravel particles, with sizes between 4-8mm will be polished until the edges become rounded, they will be cleaned from the excess dust and dried at a relative humidity of maximum 4%.

B.I.1.b. LAYER OF WHITE GRAVEL PARTICLES EMBEDDED IN A COLORLESS RESIN FINISH APPLIED ON THE SURFACE OF THE ECOLOGICAL POND + GRATE FOR THE DRAIN + COVER FOR THE WATER CONTROL STATION The layer will be applied on the surface of the ecological pond, previously executed by the EXPO S.P.A. The technological process and the necessary materials will be made according to chapter B.I.1.a.Aluminium edge profiles will be used (almost invisible profiles) at the joints between the horizontal and vertical surfaces. The constructor will have the task to perform the arrangement of the ecological pond, the necessary materials and maintenance will be presented in the chapter B.III.8. Arrangement of the ecological pond. The grate will be placed at the perimetral drain system of the pond and will be made of 200mm stain-less steel. The cover for the water control station will be made out of 50x10mm iron strips placed on two direc-tions, covered with a thick iron sheet, which becomes support for the layer of white gravel particles embedded in a colourless resin film, technological procedure described in chapter B.I.1.a. On top of this cover an X20 vacuum tube solar panel will be mounted.

For details check de architectural drawings A03.Ground floor plan, A06.Longitudinal Section A-A`, A07.Cross Section B-B` and detail D12.

B.I.1.c. CONCRETE BLOCKSConcrete blocks: 32 pieces with the dimensions of 80x40cm and 32cm height and 6 pieces with the di-mensions of 130x40cm and 32 cm height. The concrete composition is C20/25, CEMIIA-S42.5N, CI0 2%, D16, S3.At the 80x40cm blocks plastic or wooden elements will be placed in the encasement, elements that will be removed afterwards, in order to create spaces for the recessed light fixtures. Plastic tubes will be placed in the concrete for the necessary electric cables. The concrete blocks will receive the same resin finish with layer of white gravel particles, the technolo-gical procedure already described in the chapter B.I.1.a, so that the concrete blocks and the ecological ponds surface will have a unitary aesthetic aspect. For details check the architecture section, drawing A08`Location plan and section for the concrete blocks.

B.I.1.d. WALL SEPARATING THE POOLS A 10cm thick wall will be poured, representing the separation between the two pools placed on different heights, for details check the drawing A03. Ground floor plan.

4

B.I.1.e. LEVELING SCREED FROM LIGHTWEIGHT CONCRETE FOR THE GROUND FLOOR A light concrete with sand layer will be poured, power float (helicopter) treated, 5,2cm thick over the concrete slab for levelling. For details check the architectural drawings (DT1a, DT2a, DT3a, DT4a, DT5a, and DT8c)

B.I.2. OVERSTRUCTURE WORKS

WOODEN CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTSMaterials. The wooden structural elements from the ground floor, upper floor and also the framework will be made of first class of exploitation wood characterized by a humidity of the wood material correspond-ent to a temperature of 20±2 °C and an air relative humidity of ≤65%.In case of the wooden construction elements operated in Class 1, the wood balance humidity will not exceed 12%. If during installation the wood material has a higher humidity (but no more than 12%) and there is no possibility to be dried on site, constructive measures will be applied, protective measures concerning the ventilation of the structural elements without introducing dangerous alterations in the structural resistance or the increase of the value of the sectioned efforts.

Wooden species and assortments. The wooden material for the structures will be chosen accordingly with the construction exploitation class and the value and nature of the efforts involved.

The wooden structures will be made as follows:· For the ground floor (the interior wooden panels, the closure vertical panels and the ceiling beams over the ground floor) will be used GL32 stratified wood, according to the EN1194 European standard.· For the first floor structural wooden elements (circular wood logs having a 25cm diameter by resin-ous wood essence, forming the split floor above the first level, but also the exterior wall structure and the wooden elements that form the roof structure) will use solid pine wood or by case, another wood that assures a minimal bending resistance at 24N/mm2 The wooden material used for the pavilion, as structural elements of resistance will be divided in three categories:I – Elements subject to stretching and bending: the main wooden beams of the split floor above the first floor (15x80cm);II – Elements subject to compression and bending: the beams of the framework, the laminated wooden beams that form the ground floor walls (8x40cm), the beams that form the first floors house structure, circular wood logs (25cmdiameter); III – Secondary elements: secondary beams that form the structure of the ceiling above the ground floor (9x25cm).

Quality tests. The verification of the sizes of all wooden elements will be made with ordinary measuring devices. The acceptable deviation from the flatness, measured with a tape on a length of 3.0 m is 5 mm along the maximum slope line.

5

The bolts and the arbores will be mounted in holes prepared in advance by pre-drilling.Bar-type joining elements (nails, hooks and screws) have a plastic behaviour. It is recommended that the bar penetration to be increased in the wooden element, in order to prevent the risk of wrenching. The use of rods with profiles is also recommended (with spiral channels, with fingers).

JOINTS WITH METAL RODS The joints referred to in the present chapter are the ones that connect the main beams with the second-ary beams from the ceiling over the ground floor, the mounting elements of the 25 cm diameter circular logs that form the ceiling over the upper floor, the main holding elements of the laminated wood beams that form the walls of the ground floor volume. For more details check the S14 structure drawings: Structural details part 1 and S15: Structural details part 2.

The minimal thickness of the thinnest element joined with nails must be at least of 4d, to prevent crack-ing when nails are inserted. In order to take into consideration the shearing section, the nail must be inserted in the respective ele-ment at least 3.5d (effective lengths, without the tip of the nail of 1.5d); The bolts will be made of OB37 concrete iron, with head and screw nut having the diameters of the smooth concrete iron used in constructions (12…16 mm, according to the joints fabrication details in the structure drawings S14 and S15);

In the case in which the bolts diameters are not specified in the drawings, they will be chosen in the regular way (1/30…1/40) l, where l is the thickness of the joint package, but minimum 12 mm.The holes for the bolts will be drilled by the rule: dhole= dbar+1mm, and the holes for the arbors and the dowels will be drilled by the rule: dhole = dtbar – (0, 8 ~ 1,0)mm; The bolts, the screws and the arbores are placed on an even number of longitudinal lines, to prevent placing a row of bars in the weak central part of the wood.

The iron elements used for joining are protected by priming with a paint made of double boiled linseed oil and minimum lead that must cover the entire surface of the metal element. Before the anticorrosive protection is applied, the surface of the metal must be cleaned of the lamina-tion layer (scum) and other impurities (dust, oxides, greases) and it must be completely dry.

WOOD FIREPROOFING MEASURES The wood used to build the pavilion structure will be fireproofed in controlled conditions and transpor-ted afterwards on site. The fireproofing supplier is obliged to certify the quality of the accomplished fireproofing by certified tests from authorized laboratories.

General data. The reed is harvested only in winter. During installation, the use of two types of reeds is necessary based on straw thickness: at the bottom layer, thicker straws (ensure the mechanical strength of the en-semble), and the top layer, made of thin straws which are stacked together and form a waterproof bar-rier, that cannot be pierced by water. It is important that both types of reed straws are purchased in the appropriate proportion.

Roof assembling. After the roof structure is completed, according to the drawings mentioned above, the first layer of reed will be laid on the framework (with thick straws), always working the way up from the base of the roof. The piles will be placed with the base on the previously mounted lumber. On top of this layer the second layer with thin straws will be placed.

The piles are fixed to the roof structure from below in such way in which the reed will be pressed. After this, the piles bindings are removed and the reed layer is flattened. With the help of a tool named “comb” the reed is beaten from bottom to the top and through this technique a uniform layer will be achieved. After the layer becomes uniform, with the help of a 1,4 mm thick galvanized wire, the reed will be sewed to the wooden strip. The sewing operation requires two people that use an iron rod with an open-ing at its top.

10

The whole operation will be repeated, taking as a basis the wooden ruler that secured the first row of piles. The number of rows will be established according to the lengths of the framing. Wooden rulers are used to compress the piles, placed across above them and pulled down with the help of the wire, fixed in the roof structure and removed later when the surface of the reed will be finished / levelled again.

Mounting the ridge. The operation described above will be continued until it reaches the ridge of the roof, where the piles will be placed longitudinally on the ridge so they cover all the ends of the piles placed below.

exterior, buried).c) The colours of the pipes will respect the colours set by the organizers by the special regulations of Expo 2015. The technique of installation for the water and sewage pipes, fittings, reinforcements, sanitary ware, accessories and equipment, involve the following operational phases:

Preliminary phase:Drawings made in the structural details will be consulted (S16.Foundation technical system layout plumbing shafts) and the installation drawings (IS001.Underground pipes below the 0.00) provided by the acquirer and the compliance will be checked with the drawings issued by Expo S.P.A., the con-tractor of the foundation and the holes in the foundation for the pipeline, in order to connect to the fa-cilities made at an earlier stage. Preparing connection to the pipeline route;Marking the lay-out and setting visual marks for the execution or the sanitary installations works – the ones buried under level 0.00 are already executed by the organizers of Expo 2015.Reception, sorting and transport of pipes, fittings, reinforcements, sanitary ware, accessories, equip-ment and other materials involved in the execution of works;

Execution phases. The water and sewage installation layouts are chosen so that minimum lengths of pipes are assured and possibilities of self-adjustment of the dilatations. Coordination of all the installations from the technical spaces must be considered, so that access for maintenance and exploitation in case of distress is assured for staff and also easily disassembling in situations in which repairing are needed. The execution of the sanitary installations will be coordinated with the other works. This coordination will follow the whole execution process, beginning with the marking. The works will be executed only with equipment that meets the quality and technical specifications of the project and the Italian regulations and technical agreements. Before execution starts, all the equipment will be visually tested for compliance with the regulations imposed by Expo 2015, in order to determine if they did or did not suffer any damages that might re -duce their technical performance and quality (straining or blocking at the machineries, condition of fil-ters, flanges, the functionality of casings etc.). The possible damages will be fixed and the equipment that cannot be brought to an adequate condition will be replaced.

At the measuring and control equipment the seal will be checked and the exposure issued by the met-eorology institutes. The storage of the sanitary installation equipment will be made in tollhouses or storage rooms organ-ized for this purpose, in conditions that assures their preservation. Equipment that are not affected by atmospheric conditions will be stored in open air on special plat-forms arranged for this purpose, with respect for the specific regulations of labour protection. The materials that may suffer damages by weather or direct sunlight, as plastic pipes, insulation materi-als etc. will be stored in shelters or storage rooms.

The coats, the ceramic sanitary ware, the measurement equipment etc. will be stored in closed storage rooms.

13

A special attention will be brought for the brittle or subject to contortion materials as claddings, sanit-ary ware, measure equipment etc.All the equipment that has, by manufacture, protective seals, will be installed with the unbroken seal at sight, for reception.

Hot and cold water pipes installation. The pipes will be installed after the lay-out was completed. At the mark-up the slopes provided by the project will be strictly respected, so that the ventilation and complete draining of the pipes is assured. For the plastic pipes (PVC, PE, PP, and PEHD) is mandatory that the tubes supplier provides the con-tractor with all the specific technical instructions regarding:- the tubes jointing technique (electro fusion, polifusion, fillet, collars etc.) as for the fittings, accessor-ies, special elements, tools and verification devices needed for these operations;- mounting on the construction elements, with static or gliding elements, modular, supplied with the tubes;- the decompression of the dilatations by changing the direction of the lay-out according to the design or by dilatation quadrants and/or special dilatation pieces, according to the design and execution book;- the protection of pipes when installed in various environments (in sight, in closed girdles, buried in walls, foundations or ground;- the specific conditions for casing, pressure and functionality tests. The pipes dilatations will be resolved generally with L shaped lay-outs by change of direction. For the supporting the pipes, suspended, mobile gliding or rolling supports will be provided.

Reinforcements. As needed, the following types of reinforcements will be provided: passing, regulation, draining, safety, ventilation, etc.The above mentioned will be installed in the positions indicated in the project’s drawings. The reinforcements will comply with the operation pressures provided by the project: up to 10 bars pressures will be used, preferably, valves with round brassy or steel valve (1/2" - 1"), or, in lack of these, passing-thru valves with brassy body for moulding, AmT1, fillet sleeve-pipes for the assembling with steel or plastic. Draining reinforcements will be installed in all the points requested by the project. The reinforcements will be installed with respect for the following conditions:- easily accessible- easily dismountableDuring execution, all the reinforcements will be installed in the closed position.

Draining pipes, PP, PVC or PEHD for sewageThe types of pipes used for the vertical and horizontal sewage interior network as the exterior sewage installation are set by the design, with indications, when necessary, of the operating pressure of the re-spective network. The pipes and connections made of fireproofed polypropylene (PP) type KA PVC for mounting in sight or hidden inside the building and KG RAU type PVC 1100 –for mounting buried outside the building have, as well, sleeve joints sealed with rubber fittings. The high density polypropylene sewage pipes joints (PEHD) can be accomplished by various methods, the fit one being chosen depending on the designer’s option, the pipes supplier recommendations, and the operating technologies that the constructor disposes of, as follows:

14

-binding by electrical welding, “head to head” (usual method), using special welding equipment or electrical welding collars;- sleeve joints sealed with rubber fittings, specially used for binding the PVC or PP sewage pipes;- binding with fillet sleeve joints;- binding with collarsThe detachable bonds will be made with Dutch connectors made of PEHD or PEHD/metal sealed with rubber fitting or clinkered. Regardless of the used type of pipe, for lay-out change of direction, bends will be used, usually at 45 degrees, and for branches T-joints and machine reductions. For some technological mounting operations as the tests PP/PEHD covers will be used.

Execution of water fire extinction installations. The water fire extinction installations, using as fire extinction agent the water, are completely separated by the drinkable (potable) water network. The installation will be made of black steel pipes that can be bound as follows:- by fillet- by oxyacetylene weld for diameters bigger than 1”, taking the necessary actions to avoid blocking the pipe section – for the black installation pipes;- with collars for binding with collar shields;- mechanic joints with fitting (grooving pipe system)

Execution of insulationsThe project provides the following types of insulations:- thermal insulations;- anticorrosive insulations;- waterproof insulationsThe hot water, cold water, recirculation, fire extinction water and sewage pipes insulation will be ex-ecuted as follows: - the hot and cold water pipes mounted in suspended ceilings, basement or girdles will be insulated with elastic rubber, or similar, 9mm thick;- the fire extinction pipes will not be thermal insulated. They will be anticorrosive protected by priming and painting.

The constructor will bring for the approval other proposed insulation models. The collars and all the support elements will be zinc-coated.The passing-thru walls and ceilings elements if they are iron based, will be galvanized or anticorrosion protected by the application of two layers of minimum lead. The uninsulated metallic pipes will be protected by priming and painting. The pipes insulating works will start only after the pressure tests were completed. The pipes and equipment insulating works will start only after the surfaces are clean and anticorrosive treated. The thermal insulations applied on pipes will be interrupted next to the closure and maneuverer support elements, next to the support elements and the flanged joints, as well as in the case of passing through sleeves in the construction elements.

Tests and release operations.1. The hot, cold and fire extinction waterThe hot and cold water pipes will be brought to the following tests:

15

- cold pressure casing test;- cold and hot water function test;- heat casing and resistance test for the hot water and circulation pipes. The cold pressure casing test, heat casing and resistance test for the hot water and circulation pipes will be equal with 1,5 x regimen pressure, indicated by the design for the specific water supply installation, but not bigger than 12 bars.

The pipes will be held under pressure as long as necessary for the verification of all the lay-outs and joints, but no less than 20 min. No pressure dropping is allowed. The pressure in the pipes will be reached by a hydraulic testing pump and read by an air-gauge fixed on a pump placed on the lowest point of the tubing. The operational test for the hot and cold water is done after the shields are installed at the sanitary ware and at the other consumption points, with the pipes under regimen hydraulic pressure.By successive opening of the reinforcements it will be verified if the water reaches the operational pressure at each consumption point.

The verification will be accomplished by opening the number of valves correspondent with the simul-taneity and the calculated flow. The casing and resistance tests for the hot water and circulation pipes will be done by operating the hot water installation at the regimen pressure set by project and at a temperature of 55... 60 °C.The regimen pressure and temperature will be maintained in the installation as long as necessary for the verification of the impermeability of all the joints, fixation and support point of the pipes subject to dilatation but no less, than 6 hours. After the complete cooling down, the cold pressure casing test will be repeated. For the circulation pipes operational test the temperature of the hot water in the pipe will be measured at the exit from the preparation installation and from the circulation pipe before it is joined with the device. The operational test is done keeping the equipment operational, according to the project provisions (pressure stations, hot water preparation installations, pumps etc.).

2. Sewage pipesThe internal sewage pipes will be brought to the following tests:

- casing test;- operational test.

The casing test will be made by checking the pipe lay-out impermeability and at the joints. The pipes that have cover elements will be verified during the works, before closing them up.The casing test will be made by filling the pipes as follows:- sewage pipes for the pluvial waters pipes on all the height of the building;- sewage pipes up to the discharge level, through the sanitary ware floor levers. The operational test is done by fuelling with water the sanitary ware and the drainage points at a normal operational flow and checking the drainage operation. At the operational test will be verified: the pipes slopes, the condition of the support elements, and the existence of the cleaning elements according to the design.

3. Flaws removal (if there is water or air leaks above the permissible level) and tests repeating

4. Washing with clean water, inside the water pipes

16

5. The disinfection of the water pipes (because they transport drinkable water)

(DT1b, DT2a, DT4b, DT5b, DT5e, D7, D8, DT8a, DT8b, DT8c, DT9a, DT9c, D10, DT10a, D11, DT11a, DT11b and DT11c.)

Technical regulations referenceThe instructions given by the manufacturer’s technical specifications will apply. There will be no mix-ing between materials from various manufacturers; a coherent system will be applied.

Execution Special plasterboard suspended ceilings installed on metallic structure. The technology of execution and the additional materials will comply with the manufacturer’s instructions. The following ceiling is proposed: a) Continuous plasterboard suspended ceilings installed on metallic structure. These ceilings will be built in all the functional areas marked in the design. For the rooms with high humidity special water resistant plasterboards will be used.

26

The commissioning technology and all the technical requirements will be made according to the manufacturer's instructions and as specified in the project. (details in architectural plans - DT1b, DT2a, DT4b, DT5b, DT5e, D7, D8, DT8a, DT8b, DT8c, DT9a, DT9c, D10, DT10a, D11, DT11, DT11b and DT11c.

Mounting Simple plasterboard for the dry rooms (12,5mm) will be mounted with suspension anchors and fixed in the corrugated iron sheet or, where the installation lay-out imposes, on the beams. An adequate struc-ture will be used according to the weight.

Cladding The plasterboards are placed across the mounting profiles. The visible joints of the edges are shifted for at least 400 mm, and then the binding will be made on bands / profiles, grouting the visible edges. The fixing of the boards begins from the middle of the board or with one corner, in order to avoid over-lapping. During the installation, the plasterboards will be well pressed against the support structure. The fixing means and the distances are given by the specifications of the systems provider. They will not be smaller than the ones provided by the projects specifications.

7,5CM, 9,25CM, 10CM, 10,5CM, 13CM AND 20 CM PLASTERBOARD COMPARMENTAL-IZATION WALLSThe interior partition walls made of simple or double plasterboards are not bearing and they are built on site. The structural functions and the construction physics are a result of the cooperation of the metallic profile skeleton, made out of galvanized steel with the plasterboard cladding, with a 12,5mm thickness. The iron profile structure is delivered by the supplier, together with the mounting accessories.

Construction of the walls – mounting with metallic skeletonThe mounting operation begins with the measurement and marking on the bearing floor of the walls axis, the self-bearing structures, the doors and other openings. After that, the operation will be contin-ued on the walls and ceilings. Next, the contour profiles are mounted on the support surface, on a spe-cial sealing band, placed with dowels at the contact with the structural elements. UW contour profiles are used for the ceilings and CW structure profiles at the side joints of the walls. Before the beginning of the construction, sealing bands will be attached or other adequate sealing materials.

The first plasterboard layer will be partially mounted on the structure and it will be fixed with the help of the levelling bubble. Next, the plasterboard is fixed on the support structure with fast mounting screws in order to avoid tensions. The second plasterboard layer will be 51mm shorter, in order to al-low the mounting of the 50mm aluminium plinth, U shaped white profile, and it will be mounted with a symmetrical corner element, and where necessary, with a 25x12mm asymmetric corner element. The U shaped plinth will be made of aluminium sheet and will be painted white. A structure with 40cm dis-tances will be used.

Fore increased fire proofing or noise proofing demands, the joints of the first plasterboard layer must be filled. The joints between the boards are shifted from the position of the plasterboards bonding on the oppos-ite side. At the taller walls, where horizontal profiles are needed at the plasterboards binding, they will be shifted or the stability of the wall will be reduced. Free bindings are not recommended. If frames are mounted, additional profiles on both sides of the frames are needed.

27

The resistance of these profiles is set after the construction system of the wall on one side and on the wall’s height, and on the dimensions and weight of the door frame on other side These door profiles will be mounted on the entire height of the walls and they are fixed very tight by the UW inferior and superior contour profile.

A temperature of at least 5 Celsius degrees is needed for the mounting and construction works. Excess-ive humidity of the air (in comparison with the later terms of use) during filling operations, as the rapid dehydration or heating for a faster drying can lead to the formation of cracks. The plasterboard joints usually have half-rounded edges and they are filled without strips only with joints filling putty spe-cified by the system`s provider. If joint covering bands made of paper or fiber glass are introduced, filling with joints filling material is also possible.

If it is necessary to polish the filling, the board must not be scratched. When joined with other construc-tion elements, separation bands will be applied. Expansion joints in the support must be carried by the complete construction of the skeleton wall.

Treatment of the surfacesOver the plasterboard panels a white paint layer will be applied. The standard plasterboards are com-patible with almost every covering layers for interiors such as: polishes and dispersion paints, wallpa-pers, textile layering and other similar. Silicate and lime based colours are not indicated. For the ul-terior application of additional layers of plaster, mineral substances or artificial resinous materials, pre-liminary treatments are required, like adhesive bridges or grounds. The smoothness of the surfaces will be verified, no deviations from the plan is accepted in the joints areas.

Protection measuresThe execution of the partition walls and suspended ceilings will not begin before the completion of the roof works.

NOTE! Special humidity proof plasterboards will be used in the high humidity areas.

· Plasterboard finishes in dry rooms – white paintProduction technology for the washable paint coatings on the interior surfaces. The washable paint coatings will be applied on the plastered interior surfaces.

PlasteringPreparatory operationsWorks that must be completed before the surfaces are plastered: - control of the surfaces to be plastered, the support surfaces must be left for some time in order to as-sure that all contractions or settlements are finished;- all works whose simultaneous or subsequent execution might deteriorate the plaster coatings, must be completed before hand;- support surfaces must be clean;- surfaces must not have higher deviations from the plan or vertical positions than those provided for the specific construction elements in the technical specifications book;

Execution of the apparent layerThe plastered surfaces that are about to be painted, will be made by applying a layer of approx. 2mm of plaster. The plaster will only be applied on a support layer that has a certain amount of humidity, in the strictly necessary quantities, before the hardening of the plaster. The plastered surfaces must be smooth, with no unevenness, undulations, and cracks or visible marks of the local reparation works; The jointing edges between the walls and ceilings and all corners must be straight, in right angle, ver-tical or horizontal. The plastered surfaces must not have cracks, holes, uncovered areas.

The paint job will be executed in the following order: - paint primer - diluted paint applied in two layers Beforehand, the plastered surface will be verified and repaired if needed; The primer will be prepared by mixing in bowl equal quantities of paint and water.

32

The primer will be applied only by hand with a wide brush or a lime brush; the drying time is of min-imum 2 hours at the temperature of +15oC and one hour at the temperature of +25oC or higher. The finish painting will be applied in two layers of water diluted paint, in proportion of 4:1 (volumet-ric); with an under pressure pistol; before use the paint will be strained by a 900 holes / cm2 bolter. The paint buckets and vessels will be closed hermetically. When the works will start again, the paint will be well homogenized before use. The paint will have an even colour, with no stains, leaking, hair from the brush, brush prints, local cor -rections that stand out from the general colour. A local deviation is allowed but not larger than 2 mm from the straight line. The separation line between the painting of the walls and that of the ceiling must be distinctive with no overlaps or undulations.

· High humidity rooms finished with white polyurethane paint The present chapter presents the technology for achieving the white, polyurethane surfaces in the bath-rooms. When using finishes with polyurethane paint it is mandatory to respect all the instructions, precautions and limitations given by the manufacturer in order to obtain maximum performance of the product.

Preparatory operationsFor a proper preparation of the surfaces, a mechanical cleaning is necessary to remove any stains or traces of contaminants, especially grease, and then a special impregnating layer of polyurethane primer will be applied.

For details check the detailed drawings no. DT8c și DT11c.

· Corrections of the pain jobs applied on the wood surfaces All the paint jobs for the laminated wood bars will be done in the factory. a. Structural stratified wood bars (and reinforcements) – mate, colourless varnish;b. Stratified wood steps of the garden access stairs – mate, colourless varnish;c. The interior and exterior oak or beech floors - mate, colourless varnish;d. Resinous wood logs – wax and grey colour varnish;e. The upper floor stair made in wood logs– wax and grey colour varnish;f. The garden alley logs – wax and grey colour polish.

The paint jobNote: The operation is in regard only to the corrections of the paint jobs made by the factory! The varnish paintings must present, on the entire surface, the same color and mate aspect. The paint must be applied in very good conditions and the result must be perfect, without transparent layers, spots, separations, wrinkles, blisters, leaks, cracks, fissures that might generate separation, clumps of dye, irregularities in grouting or sanding, hair, traces of poorly mixed paint and others alike. The initial wood colour will affect the final result. The in-between sanding with smooth sandpaper improves the adherence between the layers and gener-ates a perfect smooth surface.B.II.5.c. FLOORS The proposed flooring types are: - high traffic PVC carpet - floors with white polyurethane paint

33

- teak flooring- oak or beech flooring- OSB boards

Materials The used materials will fulfil the characteristics required by the technical regulations and standards spe-cified in the related chapters and they will respect the applicable Italian law and the regulations, the participation guide and the specifications of Expo 2015.

ExecutionThe floors will be installed only after all the works beneath them and their prescribed tests are com-pleted (channels, foundations, pipes, electrical, sanitary and heating installations), and also after all the construction-assembly works, that might damage the floor are finished. When the new floor’s support layer is made of concrete or reinforced concrete, these support surfaces must be prepared by cleaning and washing with water in order to remove the impurities or the plaster left-overs. The cleaning will be done with brooms and brushes. If there are irregularities, greater than those permitted by specific regulations a layer of levelling com-pound will apply. - The various floor penetrations, the joints between the prefabricated elements of the floor, the large de-pressions, etc. will be sealed or grouted, by the case. - Before the floors are executed, the heating and sanitary pipes that penetrate the floor will be tested for proper insulation, in order to exclude any contact between the pipes and the floors or ceilings.

Execution of the support layer The rigid support layer must have a smooth and plane surface. In the areas where there are irregularities above the admitted deviations, the surfaces will be corrected by pointing, cleaning and washing.

Execution of floor coatingThe execution of the wear layer (the coating) for each type of floor will be done according to the provi-sions from the following chapters.

· PLASTIC MATERIAL FLOORS This chapter contains specifications for the floors executed from plastic materials: - P.V.C. carpet installed on the entire surface of the ground floor and in the upper floors lavatories. For details check the detail drawings from the architecture sections no.DT1a, DT2a, DT3a, DT4a, DT5a and DT11c.

Materials - PVC carpet- Bonding agents and diluents

ExecutionThe following works must be completed before the floors execution begins:

1. Interior plastering (including the repairing works) of walls and ceilings;2. Coatings and paintings;3. Fitting the joinery of windows (including the glass);

34

4. Electrical, sanitary and heating installations (including the pressure tests). The levelling screed support layer is made of poured light concrete mixed with sand, power float treated, with a thickness of 5,2cm over the concrete slab.

Protection measures for the support layer The levelling screed support layer will be protected by the following measures:

1. they will be protected against deteriorations or spotted during the execution of the painting and coating works;

2. they will be protected against the aggressive chemical substances that attack and destroy the material: mineral and organic acids (chlorine hydride, dipping acid, azotic acid, acetic acid, lactic acid. etc.), alkaline substances leaches, mineral oil products (mineral oils, diesel-fuel, naphtha. Lamp oil etc.), sugar products, salts (sulphates, brine, etc.), oxidant substances (so-dium hypochlorite, bi-chromates, chromates, azotizes, etc.), vegetal oils.

Floor coating executionThe PVC carpet installing operations:

1. In the rooms where the PVC carpet will be laid, a temperature of at least + 16 C degrees and an air relative humidity of maximum 65% will be provided with at least 48 hours before the in-stalling works begin. This condition will be maintained throughout all the works and at least 30 days after their completion.

2. The support surface must be checked and carefully cleaned, removing and correcting all the im-perfections and impurities and all the dust will be removed by brushing.

3. Before the PVC carpet is glued, in the situation in which the support layer, after cleaning, has frequent irregularities, the correction will be made by applying a thin layer of plaster (maximum 1, 5 mm thick).

4. Before the plastering, the surface will be primed and left to dry for minimum 2 hours. 5. The putting or the plastering will be executed with a cement plaster, that will be applied with

minimum 24 ore before the PVC carpet is installed and its composition will depend on the type of PVC carpet provided by the project.

6. 3-4 hours after the plastering or 14-16 hours after the putty is applied, the surface will be pol-ished with abrasive stone and will be dusted by brushing.

7. With 24 hours before the gluing, the PVC carpet will be brought into the room, for acclimatiza-tion; subsequently it will be cut and placed in position.

8. A thin adhesive layer (0,200… 0,250 Kg/m2) will be applied in the same time on the support surface and on the PVC carpet or tiles.

9. After approx. 20...40 minutes, from the moment the adhesive was applied, the carpet will be glued manually by pressing in order to avoid air intrusion under the material.

10. After gluing all carpet stripes, the floor will be pressed with a long handler metallic roll (25…30 kg), covered on the exterior in elastic bands of soft rubber.

11. Any adhesive left overs will be immediately removed from the carpet surface and the joints will be checked in order to ensure a perfect gluing.

12. In the situations indicated by project, the joints will be welded with plastic PVC strips; the oper-ation will be executed with a Zinsser type welding machine.

13. The carpet will be glued on its entire surface, without bumps or loose corners or edges.14. The joints between the carpet bands will not be bigger than the permitted dimensions: 0,5mm

wide15. The surfaces will be completely plane and smooth; no bumps or depressions are allowed 16. The floor surface will be clean and polished; no stains are allowed.

35

Floor finishingThe PVC carpet surface will be cleaned of the eventual adhesive left-overs by rubbing with a dry and rough cloth. The carpet will be glued on its entire surface, without bumps or loose corners or edges, while the joints between the carpet bands will not be bigger than the permitted dimensions: 0,5mm wide. The carpet will be completely plane and smooth, no bumps, depressions or stains are allowed.

· FLOORS WITH WHITE POLYURETHANE PAINT The present chapter presents the technology for achieving the white, polyurethane surfaces in the bath-rooms. When using finishes with polyurethane paint it is mandatory to respect all the instructions, precautions and limitations given by the manufacturer in order to obtain maximum performance of the product.

Preparatory operationsFor a proper preparation of the surfaces, a mechanical cleaning is necessary to remove any stains or traces of contaminants; especially grease and then a special impregnating layer of polyurethane primer will be applied.

NOTE! At the upper floor, the rectangular pipe grid located under the OSB board will be supple-mented in order to avoid the floor to bend. For details check the architectural detail DT11c.

· WOOD FLOORSThis chapter contains the specifications for the wood floors: - Exterior teak flooring – ground floor - Exterior and interior oak or beech deck – first floor restaurant - OSB board floor

Materials The deck at the ground floor level will be made entirely out of massive wood, out of the most resistant and hard wood essences: Ipé, Itauba, Bangkirai, Cumaru, Garapa, Teak etc. In the present situation teak will be used. The wooden slats have large dimensions, 90 mm width, lengths of 800-5000 mm and 19/21 mm thick-ness, adequate to bear considerable weights and forces. The support structure profiles are made of the same essence, with 90 mm width, 800-5000 mm length and thickness of 19/21 mm. For details check the drawing in the architecture section A08.Section CC`, DD`, EE`. The oak or beech deck made of large elements having each 90mm width, various lengths and 20mm thickness will be placed on a support of bars with various dimensions. For details check the architec-tural details DT1c, DT2b, DT5c and D10.

ExecutionThe deck will be installed on floating profiles, made of the same wood essence or from a different es-sence that will be fitted at the exterior and fixed with screws. In order to obtain a plane surface, plastic plots will be installed after fixing the elements with screws. At installation, between the wooden ele-ments a 5mm dilatation joint will be provided.

36

The wooden elements are placed above the profiles and they are fixed on them with a hidden holding, as such the screw will be placed underneath, from the profile to the wooden element, with the same condition that 2 screws are fixed in each wooden element. The deck will be installed on rectangular pipe profiles.

Positioning the support-elements for the teak deckThe wood used for the structure must have the same density and durability as the wood used for the wear layer. The structure elements must be well attached by adequate mechanical or chemical means to ensure an anchorage that will be stable in time. In the situation when materials as cement or concrete are used, the wooden deck will be installed only after the support materials are completely dry. It is fundamental that the structure elements are placed in parallel with the slope line, in order to avoid hu-midity. The distance between the structure elements depends on the thickness of the deck elements, as follows: • the 19 mm thick slats need a 350-450 mm distance • the 21 mm thick slats need a 400-500 mm distance It is recommended that the each deck element is fixed on each structure element.

Fixing the slats on the structural elements - the case of the teak deckThe slats are fixed on the structure with screws; their fixation with nails must be by all means avoided. All the exotic wood for decks presents a hardness that requires pre-boring in order to avoid wood cracking risks. For this operation adequate spirals for hard wood are indicated. For the installation with hidden screws, their dimensions will be proportioned according to the anchor elements. In this type of fit, the screws are fixed from underneath to the surface of the wood, boring the beams and filleting inside the slats.Screws of adequate lengths must be used in order to prevent them to break-thru the wood on its entire thickness. The fixation distances of the screws depending on the exterior edges and the ends of the wood will remain as mentioned earlier.

Protection measures for the support layerIt is important that the wooden slats are cleaned with water before they are installed, in order to avoid the emersion of the tannin at the first rain. The tannin can generate stains on the wood’s surface. The wood can also be stained due to sun exposure before the primer and oil are applied.

Floor finishingIn order to solve the roughness problem, the wood will be heavily wetted. Once the floor dries off, it can be polished with an abrasive paper. In order to prevent the wood natural oxidation made by the UV radiations (grey-silver coloring) and to make it more pleasant at touch a special exterior oil will be applied. Using the oil also allows a better exudation of the wood that results in less scratching. Application of the oil must be done according to the indications provided by the producer.

Storage conditions Until they are installed the wooden slats must be bound with belts at their ends in order to prevent curving.

Oak or beech interior and exterior flooring – upper floor restaurant

37

At the upper floor, in the restaurant and on the terrace the interior and exterior flooring will be done with massive wood lamellas. An oak or beech deck (of 20mm thickness), finished with a colorless, matte varnish will be used. The structure will be made of 40x80mm rectangular bars, fixed on the 9x25cm stratified wooden beams. For details check the detail drawings DT1c, DT2b, DT5c and D10.

OSB board flooring – split levelAt the split-level, the floor is a 20 mm thick plank-floor, with an OSB board placed under it and fixed in the ∅ 25cm resinous logs.

B.III.6. GARDENGeneral data. Description The garden will be made according to the details given in the architectural details and the general plants lay-out from the drawing A12.Garden plan. The target is to create a green area for permanent rest and relaxation, on the six month international ex-hibition period. This universe of plants, fruit shrubs and flowers will serve to fascinate the visitor when sitting down at the restaurant terrace, not only by the diversity of the vegetation, but also by the special flavours. The appearance should be diverse, live, and colourful, without void areas with missing vegetation or damaged plants by pests. Dry, faded, withering plants or the ones with unpleasant appearance should be avoided (to be replaced if it is damaged) The plants must be grouped by their needs (light, water, nutrients) but these functional criteria can be combined with aesthetic criteria, established by their colour and flavour.

Materials and plantsComposition: topsoil for the plants, growing soil that varies around 40cm, geotextile draining mem-brane, 10cm water drainage system with special plastic granules that replace the gravel, specified by the manufacturer according to weight, 4mm root proof membrane, 3mm auto adhesive waterproofing membrane, 1% slope screed with variable heights depending on the area - 3-6cm, vapour barrier, diffu-sion layer, 7cm corrugated sheet, wooden beam structure (9x25cm). List of plants planted in the garden

1. Wheat (Triticum aestivum)2. Fruit scrubs – blueberry, gooseberry, red and black currant (Vaccinium myrtillus, Ribes uva-

crispa, Ribes rubrum, Ribes nigrum)3. Aromatic herbs – savory, basillicum, salvia, absinth, parsley, lavage. (satureja hortensis,

ocimum basilicum, salvia officinalis, artemisia absinthium, petroselinum crispum, levisticum officinale)

4. Perennial plants– brotherwort and calluna (Thymus serpyllum, Calluna vulgaris)

General characteristics and maintenance conditions A wheat cordon will be placed around the garden, approx. 50cm thick and 110cm high, that will be grown alternatively (it will be planted combined, on different age groups) so that the maturity period will not be overpassed during the exhibition period.

39

The fruit scrubs will be planted at minimum distances, assuring continuity between the plants and a minimum 90% soil coverage. In order to obtain this, the flowers and aromatic herbs will be placed as close as possible to the stem of the fruit scrubs. It is important to consider that some plants need more sun in order to preserve their specific flavours. The garden will be irrigated by a dropping system, fuelled by a tank buried in the ground that accumu-lates rain water. The water obtained by the air-conditioning systems condensation will also be used.

· Wheat - Triticum aestivum - The planted wheat is measured in germinated grains (kg)/sm and usually 750 grains/sm are seeded.

Care works: The wheat culture is not difficult, the cultivated fields do not require a special arrange-ment or high maintenance works. Between seeding and harvesting, there is no difficult labor. The wheat blooms after 3-4 days after earing and the blooming period is 3-5 days. Generally, the wheat has low demands regarding the temperature.

· Blueberry – Vaccinium myrtillus Care works: trimmings will be made in order to air the scrub and to allow the light to reach the branches from the interior of the scrub, and, in order to maintain its productivity, the old stalks will be removed. The soil will be maintained grass-free by covering the soil with mineral or vegetal materials (leafs, sawdust etc.). Fruit harvesting is done when it gets the specific color variety.

· Gooseberry – Ribes uva-crispa Care works: for a good development, the scrubs must be trimmed periodically in order to remove the broken, dry or contaminated branches. A special treatment, with a pest prevention substance made of burnt lime, bluestone and glue will be applied in order to prevent the mildew of the fruits (they get black and fall down).

· Red and black currant – Ribes nigrum, Ribes rubrumCare works: grows and makes fruits better when it has sufficient light. Does not have temperature de-mands and it can grow among other scrubs. Needs more water in the blooming and fruiting period. It is important that the currant is cut before the buds blow. The fruits are picked when they have the specific colour depending of the soil.

· Aromatic herbsCare works: they need a lot of light (at least 6 hours per day), a fertile soil and a good drainage for the excess water. They can also be used dried, most of them having medical properties and they can be pre-served for long periods of time. They are not demanding regarding the soil fertilization but it is recom-mended that the soil to be enriched with vitamins. They can be grouped by their colour or flavour. These plants are essential to define the different areas of the garden and to keep away harmful insects or to support the growth of other plants.

· Perennial plants Brotherwort (Thymus serpyllum): Aromatic, small perennial plant (approx. 10cm height and 10-30cm large). The leaves are not persistent, they are small, dark green, with a strong smell and also small flowers, grouped in clusters, coloured and with nice perfume. This plant loves the sun and does not re-quire special attention; it should be watered once every 2 days. Calluna (Calluna vulgaris): Scrub of small dimensions with persistent leafs, green during the summer and brown during the autumn. The flowers are abundantly produced from the end of summer to au-tumn, the plant being resistant to low temperatures. The plant does not have special demands regarding the soil, but it does not like hot weather; it should be planted in the shadowed areas.

B.III.7. Wooden stump alley in the garden 15-40cm wide and 15cm high wooden stump alley, made of resinous wood (fir, pine-tree or larch) posi-tioned after the soil layer had been compacted to prevent collapsing. They will be treated fireproof, waxed and painted with grey paint. For placing details check drawing no. A04 – First floor plan.

B.III.8. Arrangement of the ecological pond Materials1mm EPDM membrane, Geotextile, pressure filter (with UV lamp) with recirculation pump, 2 UV lamps (additional filtering capacity), surface Skimmer, Air pump/oxygen 6.000l/hour, Bio booster, break stone for ornament (on the entire surface of the pond), PHD water duct.

Maintenance The quality of water used to fill the pond should be checked carefully for better maintenance. Throughout the exhibition optimal pond maintenance will be ensured, so that the look is always clean and tidy. Periodical cleaning will be conducted to remove the algae or other pollution, accidental or from natural causes.

The cleaning products and equipment will be carefully chosen in order not to affect the visitor’s visual or olfactory perception. The exterior of the pavilion (the garden, the ecological pond, the visitors waiting area, the stairs, other access/exit areas) as the interior of the multifunctional hall will be monitored to be permanently clean, assuring an operative removal of the accidental waste that visitors might drop. The frequency of the sanitization services must be increases in the special periods (rush hours with an increased number of visitors, VIP visitors or during the days with special climate, as the rainy ones). At the request of the pavilion staff, the waste will be removed at least once per day. The cleaning products and equipment, the garbage disposal tools must be stored in order. The garbage cans must be well kept and periodically cleaned, in and out; the garbage bags must be placed for the convenience of use and there must not be any dispersed waste on the floor or around the garbage bin. The waste storage space must be kept in a salubrity condition by periodical hygiene works, free from odours and accidental spills of liquids into the ecological pond. The executant is responsible for the waste collection and sorting so that it can be stored in the dedicated area of the pavilion, with strict respect for the provisions of the Expo Milano 2015 regulations. The wastes generated by the operation of the pavilion must be separated at least in the following categories: recyclable waste (plastic, glass, paper, packages, iron, etc.), dangerous waste (electrical equipment, light fluorescent tubes, chemical waste etc.), and other waste: vegetal materials from the garden, perishable products etc.

C.2. Landscape maintenance service The garden and the ecologic pond will be adequately maintained, assuring the function of the associated technical systems: preservation, protection and growing of the vegetal material; periodical cleaning for a nice visual aspect and the appropriate management of the resulted waste. The executant is obliged to assure:

CAPITOLUL D: DEMOLITION WORKS

This chapter presents the pavilion dismantling procedures. For more details check the structural draw-ings S.07.Construction steps technological and S.08.Demolition plan. The dismantling works will be made according to the applicable Italian law, and the regulations, parti-cipation guide and any other general or special documents issued by the organizers of Expo 2015.

STRUCTURE REZISTANCE I. Preparatory works for the execution of the dismantling and consolidation works

53

The Contractor shall appoint the certified technical manager, certified under the law that will be re-sponsible according to his duties to accomplish the adequate quality level corresponding to the essential performance requirements of the construction.

II. Basic concepts regarding the dismantling worksII.1. General Principles regarding the dismantling worksThe unit that executes the dismantling works is obliged to take all the necessary measures for the pro-tection of the surrounding areas (transmission of vibrations or shocks, the spread of materials, dust, to assure the normal accesses).

The execution of the dismantling works will be conducted, mandatory, by experienced technical per-sonnel that respond directly for the preparation of the staff that executes the dismantling works, the ob-servance of the technical charts regarding the execution of the dismantling works contained by the technical documentation, as for the recovery of the materials, construction elements and installations.Before the dismantling works begin, all the personnel involved in the execution will be instructed on the technological process, the succession of the operations and execution stages and on the specific la-bour protection measures and for the technical measures to be applied for the adequate recovery of the materials resulted from the dismantling.In all the cases, the dismantling works will begin only after:- all the connections for water, electrical power, heating, telephone, sewage had been disconnected. The disconnection operations will be executed by competent personnel authorized in specialized com-panies that are responsible for these installations and utilities. - all the interior water, heating, networks had been emptied as well as the interior fuel tanks;- the absence of any toxic substances inside the closed rooms was checked, by qualified personnel, with detection devices dedicated to this purpose (gas tanks) or technological purpose (sulphur hexaflorur, having the role of activating some equipments), and the existing tubing;- all the equipments, utilities, installations and technological equipments in the building had been disas-sembled and evicted;

The dismantling operations will take place during the day. In situations that impose that the demolition operations must be continued during the night, proper lighting will be provided and dangerous opera-tions will be avoided. The access of the untrained personnel or of other persons that are not involved in the demolition opera-tions in the demolition area is strictly forbidden. The dangerous area nearby the construction under demolition will be marked with marking signs vis-ible day and night and during the night will be surveyed by trained personnel. The materials that will be used in the demolition area will be stored in proper locations.

D1. Dismantling and packaging – as it is presented in the Tender Book – chapter D.D2. Disassembling/dismantling of the pavilion The execution of dismantling worksThe execution of dismantling works for each construction will begin only after all the equipments had been removed, according to the technical documentation. The construction parts that present imminent risk of collapsing will be properly assured. The execution of dismantling works of the building will be done piece by piece (element by element), from top to bottom, from the framing level to the ground floor, being forbidden the simultaneous dismantling on the same vertical or the beginning of demolition from the base of construction.

54

The dismantling operations, including the use of equipment, will not affect in any manner the people from the neighbouring buildings or the ones on the sidewalk and they will not affect the material assets found outside the area of the building under demolition.

The dismantling sequence (for the operations executed in the same phase):1. First the joinery and floors wooden elements will be taken off;2. Then the wooden panel walls will be broken down. 3. After that the structural elements will be dismantled from top to bottom, in a constant and uniform way.4. Finally the ceilings will be dismantled;

Dismantling rules

Besides the above mentioned, the dismantling will be done with respect for the following:

a. Dismantling the structureDue to the building`s site surroundings, the following dismantling technology will be applied:The “piece by piece” dismantling technology:- The structure will be broken into convenient sized pieces, beginning with the upper side, by the fol-lowing order: slab, walls.

b. Dismantling of the wooden framing The wooden framing is the last element of the roof to be dismantled, after the removal of the reed cover and of the accessories. The dismantling order is as follows:- Roof timbers;- Comb cleat;- trusses (strips, claws and props);- Sills.

For the protection of labour during the dismantling of the roof covers and framing, the following will be provided:- The works will be carried out according to the Italian laws and following the stipulations in the regu-lations and participation guide, as any other general or specific documents the Expo 2015 organizers will provide.- It is strictly forbidden for the workers to step directly on the roof- During the dismantling of the roof covers and framing is strictly forbidden to carry on any other works inside the construction, at the level right below the roof;

D.3. Demolition of the foundation, vacating the area and restoring the lot to its original condition

Demolition of the reinforced concrete foundations will be achieved by breaking it into smaller pieces, starting from a marginal area using a jackhammer. Debris will be ejected and stored in a designated area for collection. All surplus material will be removed from the site with the progress of the works. Throughout the demolition operations safety rules and work safety will be respected.

55

Conditions will be ensure that access to and from the site is kept under control and cleaning equipments are provided (water jet, special carpets) so that the neighbouring site is not affected by debris scattering from the wheels of the trucks.

After demolition, the materials will be removed from the site and the lot will be prepared to begin the filling operations to restore it to its original condition, how it was received.
