The inaugural Temple University Post Graduation Plans Survey for Undergraduates was administered by the
Temple University Career Center. Collection of data was coordinated with Temple University’s undergraduate schools
and colleges, the Registrar, Computer Services, Institutional Research and Assessment, Alumni Relations, Enrollment
Management, and Institutional Advancement. The survey captures career-related outcomes for bachelor’s degree
recipients, as well as data on experiential education completed among the cohort during their academic career at
Temple University.
The survey was launched in April 2015 and complies with the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE)
guidelines on the collection of institutional post-graduation information. The following report includes data only on
May 2015 bachelor degree recipients. It is divided into two primary sections: 1) Universitywide results and 2)
School/College results. For more information on the NACE guidelines, please visit
https://www.naceweb.org/knowledge/assessment/first-destination-survey-standards.aspx.
Survey Eligibility
May 2015 bachelor degree recipients were eligible to complete the survey. This cohort was made of 3611 eligible
graduates. The results below reflect 2562 graduates’ data, a knowledge rate of 70.9%.
Initial survey eligibility was based on those who had applied for graduation, obtained in collaboration with the Office
of the Registrar. Once degrees were officially conferred by the Office of the Registrar, the survey pool was limited to
only students who officially were awarded their bachelor degree.
Methodology
Data collection was conducted through a web-based instrument created by Temple University Computer Services’
INTG Portal team. Collection began in April 2015 and concluded on February 15, 2016. During this 11-month period, a
variety of sources were utilized including LinkedIn profiles, emails from school/college/departmental staff, reports
from school/college/departmental faculty and staff, phone calls via vendor Ruffalo Noel Levitz, in-person efforts (i.e.
cap and gown pickup), and data from the Office of the Registrar.
All data obtained from LinkedIn or a source other than the graduate was followed up in good faith to verify accuracy,
in line with NACE guidelines.

Definitions
Graduates had the ability to report one of nine primary outcomes upon graduation from Temple University.
Outcomes are divided into streamlined categories for this report:
Landed – Graduates who reported confirmed plans after graduation. This includes those who are 1) employed full-
time (30 hours or more per week), 2) employed part-time (one or more jobs at less than 30 hours per week), 3)
continuing education (accepted and plan to matriculate into graduate or professional school, a second bachelor’s
degree, post-baccalaureate programs, certificate programs, or pursuing further studies), 4) volunteer service
(participating in a volunteer or service program), 5) military service (serving in the military), or 6) starting family
(starting or raising a family).
Still Seeking – Graduates who are 1) still seeking employment (looking for or currently interviewing for a job or post-
graduate internship), or 2) still seeking continuing education (planning to enroll, but not accepted to a program for
further study).
Not Seeking – Graduates who are not seeking employment or continuing education at this time.
No Knowledge – Graduates who did not respond to the survey or whom we could not obtain reasonable information
about their plans after graduation by February 2016.
Additionally, NACE guidelines state usage of the term “knowledge rate” rather than “response rate”. This term is used
throughout this report.
Knowledge Rate – Reflects the percent of graduates for which Temple University has reasonable information on the
graduates’ post-graduation plans, where the information was either self-reported, provided by employers, faculty, or
staff, or obtained through other sources, such as LinkedIn profiles.
Notes
Summary level data is shared throughout the report. If fewer than three data points were reported, data is not
included.
