If you want to know what time it is,
what do you say?

How many hours are there? In other words, is “hora”
singular or plural?
One!...there is only one so…
let’s think about the answer…If it’s 1 o’clock: is “one” singular or plural? Singular!
!So then you use the same verb in the answer =
“es”
let’s think about the answer…If it’s 2 through 12 o’clock: are 2 through 12 singular or plural numbers? Plural!!
So then you use the plural of the verb in the answer =“son”

A: Es la una.
