Online Evaluation Summary generated for New Academic Staff Induction (NASI) Training:

Online Evaluation Summary generated for Echo Seminar (ES):

Online Evaluation Summary generated for Continuing Professional Training (CPT):

Through NASI, they have learned ...• How to have a control over students by understanding student’s impulses and actions as well as their behaviours.• Should also consider the students emotional well being while managing a class.

• Allow students to get involved in the class in order to enhance their communication skills.• Students are responsible for their learning. Lecturer is to facilitate the students. Research on the employers’ demand on graduates.

Their comments about NASI:• As teacher we are obligated to adapt and fine-tune our lsesson to cater to our students’ individual needs.• We have to find a way to minimise the use of tests/exams as the core form of assessment.• The theory of triangulation. We have to use a more well-rounded approach towards assessing the students’ achievement.i.e: The use of portfolios, mini-projects.• How to incorporate technology in teaching and learning. • Introduced to some useful computer programs: wordsheets, google site, simple video presentation How these would help the students to perform better in their learning: especially those who are struggle

Through CPT, they have learned ...

• gained more understanding in preparing and designing exam questions

-avoid bias queastions -always check your grammar and language

• Bloom’s Taxonomy. Essay questions are not always the best. Essay

questions need to be specific to ensure marks are weight accordingly.

Short answer questions are more effective in testing knowledge insteads

of essay questions. MCQ questions are difficult to set. Avoid bias questions.

• The content covers only a few aspects of setting exam questions in general.

Different types of question can be applied as long as the objective is

achieved, bloom taxsonomy is suitable for questioning and the questions

must be clear and precise.

• Create exam question grid, MCQ vs Subjective/essay Exam Question, The

principles of effective exam writings.

Their comments about CPT:

• really enjoyed the workshop, speaker was very entertaining and resourceful

• More exercise and training availability on the web for easy referencing for

lecturers

• Comprehensive explanation by the speaker who are able to create lively

learning environment.

• Overall, I am very pleased with the session. Dr Ann Tan is very engaging,

knowledgable and SMART! I would highly recommend this session to

anyone preparing exam questions even if they have the experience

because Dr. Ann is also an English language expert.
