EXPERIENCE Software Engineering Lead, Zoteca & EBO Nexus. New York City, New York. January 2010 - April 2014. While technically a programming lead, I played a varied role for this small company, working on a SaaS that helps low-income people connect to supplemental benefits. Since 2009 this product helped over 120,000 households connect to nearly $300 million in supplemental benefits. EBO Nexus is a spin-off, established independently in 1/2013, from development work at Zoteca.

Worked in Java and Drools in Eclipse to add and update benefits in the back-end qualification engine Worked continuously to keep code updated, consistent, and scalable, including researching restructuring solutions Worked closely with analysts, QA, and programmers to role out timely tested code in 3 month deployment cycles Analyzed specifications, deployed solutions to test server, analyzed tests to ready code for stage & live servers Took initiative to resolve customer issues and concerns in my domain, pinpointing bugs and miscommunications Stepped into QA, UI, and data management roles as necessary, working with issue tracking, JSF, and SQL in Navicat

Software Engineer, S&S Programming. Lafayette, IN. June 2009 - May 2010.

Worked in Visual Basic and SQL to modernize and extend livestock-tracking applications Worked with the owner to assess his needs and come up with scalable creative solutions Streamlined applications and dramatically reduced in-code query response time

Software Engineer, Delphi Labs. West Lafayette, IN. January 2009 - August 2009, August 2007 - May 2008.

Wrote testing software in C# and analyzed XML data files for automotive modules and tested the modules themselves Wrote prototype code in C for an FPGA module which would analyze video data and maintain user vehicle profiles

PCS Engineering Intern, Alcoa. Newburgh, IN. May 2008 - January 2009, May 2007 - August 2007.

Worked to garner an understanding of aluminum manufacturing and the PCS role Worked on translating Fortran code modules into C modules Wrote scripts for importing data from text files into databases Assisted in installing and rewiring control room equipment Implemented a CitectSCADA screen and wrote accompanying training documentation Attended operations meetings and scheduled meetings with electrical engineers

LOOKING FORWARD I'm always looking to improve, refresh old skills, and learn new things. In this vein, I am working to garner an understanding of larger scale practices like Agile, Scrum, and Continuous Delivery. I'd also like to expand my experience with architectures, like REST, and web services. Mostly, I'm interested in acquiring any skills that can help me build my career in this fast-moving industry.
