TAKARI PRIMARY SCHOOL RICKMAN ST BALCATTA WA 6021 PH 9253 4550 Email: [email protected] www.takarips.wa.edu.au PRINCIPALS MESSAGE: With just over one week to go before the holidays, staff and students are scrambling to complete everything they need to before embarking on a very well deserved two week break. The COVID-19 situation certainly threw us a few curve balls over the last three months. The Government has announced Phase 4 of the Roadmap to Recovery with many restrictions (at school and in the community) to be lifted or eased this weekend. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the entire Takari school community for their patience, support and understanding over the past three months. The community spirit at all levels has been amazing. All staff did a tremendous job under at times very trying conditions, and the parent support we have had is acknowledged and very much appreciated. And the students met all the challenges thrown at them. I was very proud of how they took on the responsibility of getting to classrooms and preparing for each day without support from their parents. The Kindergarten and Pre Primary students were so good we have decided to keep this morning routine going. Tomorrow we are holding the Faction Cross Country Carnival and the Yr 6 students will be providing a sausage sizzle lunch to raise funds for their proposed camp in term four. If the positive news continues, we will see more restrictions lifted or eased next term. Things might not ever get back to exactly how they were before COVID-19, but we are certainly heading in the right direction. David Tennant FAREWELL MRS YOST: Mrs Yost leaves Takari PS at the end of this term to start a new position as a Visiting Teacher at the School of Special Educational Needs Disability. Mrs Yost has been a much valued member of the Takari team for the past two years and will be missed by students, staff and the community. Being part time Deputy Principal and part time Teacher is a very difficult job, but Mrs Yost did it in style. We wish Mrs Yost all the best in her new position. The school is still working through processes to appoint a Deputy Principal (2 days) and Yr 6 Teacher (3 days), which will hopefully be announced before the end of the term. NEWSLETTER #10 Week 9 Term 2 Thursday 25 June 2020 APPLICATIONS FOR ENROLMENT FOR K and PP IN 2021 If you have a child who will be 4 years old by 30 June 2021 they are eligible for Kindy next year. If you have children at this school, Kindy enrolment is not automatic. You still need to complete an application for enrolment. If you have neighbours who have children ready for Kindy, please let them know as they may not get this newsletter or be aware they need to enrol. Download an application for enrolment here. Please return via email as soon as possible. The closing date for enrolments is Friday 3 July. KEEPING OUR CHILDREN SAFE The Kiss and Drive is working quite well at the moment. Remember, the last five parking bays in front of the school on Rickman St have a one minute limit. Traffic Wardens have been patrolling this area and will fine parents staying longer than one minute. Please do not arrive at the school five minutes before the home time siren and expect to be able to sit in the Kiss and Drive and wait for your child. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED parents arrive at the Kiss and Drive between 3.05 pm and 3.10pm. This will almost certainly guarantee children are ready and waiting outside the front of the Library. If their child is not in front of the Library parents must move on after their one minute has elapsed. Unfortunately we have been informed that Flexibuzz is no more from Tuesday 30 June. We can only apologise on their behalf for the short notice! We are quite disappointed as it worked very well. Going forward we will be sticking with Department of Education supported programs hopefully for start of term 3. Everyone has Seesaw, use this to contact your teachers for remainder of the year. Absences can be rung through on 9253 4550 or emailed to [email protected] Team Takari Free Dress Day Thursday 2 July 2020 Wear the colours of Team Takari (pink, Yellow orange or green) for a gold coin donation. TEAM TAKARI

For the last half of the term our behaviour value focus will be doing our personal best. As all our students have returned to school and have settled back into their learning routine, we would like to remind the school community of putting in our best effort when we have a job to do. Taking the time to be organised, having a plan, persevering when faced with a challenge and bringing a positive attitude to our learning are keys to success. Working towards your personal best requires a strong sense of believing in yourself, knowing that you can get the job done. Once you have knowledge and a belief in yourself, you can set your goals and targets. Knowing what you want to achieve is stronger than hoping or wishing that something good happens. It also provides clarity which gives you the confidence to really go for it. Our students will be doing their personal best tomorrow during the faction Cross Country Event. Distance running is a challenge for most of us, but having a positive mindset, to give it a go and to do your best will get you to the finish line. Showing good sportsmanship, cheering on your team and helping teachers and younger students are all ways we

would like to see personal best displayed on the oval tomorrow. Come on Takari, we can all do this together!

Our cleaners have been working really hard in the past few months ensuring the school is kept sanitised during the covid situation. Big thank you to Woo, Sally And Mitesh!

SEMESTER ONE REPORTS TO BE EMAILED: Parents and carers are advised that Semester One reports will be emailed, instead of being printed and hand delivered. Emailing the reports means that you can save the report electronically, ready to have if you need it in the future. You will receive the report quickly and safely, not jumbled up in your child ’s bag, and the report can be sent to multiple people at the same time. We will be sending the Semester One report to parents and caregivers, provided we have correct email addresses.

The emails are secure, we do not send emails which include everyone’s address nor disclose your email address to anyone else.

We are in the process of ensuring we have current email addresses, preferably for both parents and care-givers if applicable. If you have recently changed your email address, please let the office know as soon as possible. The best way is to email [email protected]
