Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold PathThe Four Noble Truths explain the cause and impact of suffering on our lives. It recognizes that suffering is part of the human existence, but it emphasizes that humans can learn to cope and minimize pain by letting go of desires. The Eightfold Path provides a plan for doing so, by correct moral actions, meditation and mental development.
RebirthThe ultimate goal of a Buddhist is to end the cycle of rebirth by achieving the highest state of enlightenment known as Nirvana. In this state we become free of suffering.
KarmaOur actions, good or bad, determine our karma. Good actions over bad actions will promote more happiness.
Today it is a major world-wide religion
As it spreads, local people adapt Buddhism to their own native religious beliefs and traditions
