● Before going on, do the following: o Disconnect the Host #1 and Host #2 cables from switch S1 (on Packet Tracer,

you can just delete these links (hit ESC to get out of delete mode if needed)) o On S1, do the following:

▪ Shut down interface Fa0/1 (shutdown) ▪ Enable port-security on Fa0/1 ▪ Set port-security maximum addresses to 1 ▪ Set port-security mac-address to ‘sticky’ ▪ Activate interface Fa0/1 (no shutdown)

a. Is the Host #1 MAC address listed? Is it a static or a dynamic table entry?

i. Yes, Statis entry.

● Now unplug Host #1 cable from Fa0/1 and connect Host #2 cable to S1 Fa0/1. On Host #2, execute ping to Host #3. The ping should fail.

a. Why did the ping from Host #2 fail?

i. The Ping failed because port security was not enabled on this interface. It contained security measures not configured to the switch.
