Under the general direction of Roots, Jack Souther mapped the area south of Telegraph Creek, the general area where prospecting possibilites might be considered i n 1957. The mapping i s incomplete around Sphaler Creek (map 104G)

latitude 57-05° and around Xeheniko lake (map 104G) latitude 57-35* and i n several similar small areas, and the plan for 1957 i s that Souther w i l l complete that work i n 1957*

The prospecting possibilities of the Mess Creek area, longitude 131° (map 104-G) were discussed and Souther reported:

(1) He examined the narrow vein of quartz containing chalcopyrite on the south end of the mountain immediately west of Ness Creek Lake. He could find no extension to the showing and no parallel structure confirming the opinion of the undersigned, who visited the location i n 1954-> that this showing i s not interesting.

(2) Souther saw a copper mineralized outcrop at the north end of the plateau lake at elevation 4-. 500 feet on the east side of the head of Mess Creek at latitude 57-15#.

(3) He observed an outcrop of ultrabasic rock on the south end of the

This operation was under the direction of Fred Roots, CGS, and covered erally the area between the Iskut River north to the Nakina River and from longitude 129° to 131°. Two heliocopters were used i n the southern half of the area, horse parties were used i n the area west of Pease Lake i n the northern half.
