Tax JUSTiCE NoWWhen resources are limited the choice for policymakers should be simple; prioritise the most vulnerable sectors of society.

A sign of a fair society is an equitable, transparent and sustainable taxation system.

Equality and economic efficiency is built on progressive taxation policies. Ireland’s taxation system is undermined by growing tax incentives, tax breaks and the reluctance to implement a Financial Transaction Tax.

Budgetary adjustments should fall on high-income groups through increased taxation.

This will enable recovery. Keep money and spending in the real economy and allow our country to grow and prosper once more.

WE CaN ChooSE To iNTrodUCE:

a fair and balanced wealth tax and a new top rate of tax.

an increase in Universal Social Charge for high income earners.

a Financial Transaction Tax on banks not paying their fair share.

An absolute floor of 10% of effective

corporation tax rate.

FiNaNCial TraNSaCTioN Tax:Governments around the world have been stabilising and protecting their banks and economies at the expense of their people.

By taxing the financial sector we would enhance fairness and increase government revenue that could support the transition towards a more inclusive and supportive society.

Eleven Eurozone states, including France, Germany and Spain have signed up to the Financial Transaction Tax and will benefit when it is adopted.

The Commission estimates €500m could be raised for Ireland by 2020.

A Financial Transaction Tax aims to raise public funds, strengthen the single market and temper irresponsible trading.

“i am calling on the Minister for Finance to stand up for the people of ireland and push for the creation of a fair and equitable financial transaction tax. Such a tax could see tangible progress achieved in safeguarding vital public services and economic growth.”

oUr CoMMUNiTy or ThE FrEE MarkET?The burden of banking debt should not fall squarely on the shoulders of the people.

The banking crisis has shown that the globalised power of financial trading and speculation can overpower the plans and defenses of individual nation states and ruin the living standards of citizens.

Our Government should NOT accept this fate.
