‘Run Lola Run’ Analysis

Task E- Reflection and Impact

Likes in the film

• I didn’t really like that much of the film. I liked the reoccurring themes such as red and clocks in the film because they kept the symbols and time present in the heads and minds of the audience and helped to show the importance of the twenty minutes. I also liked how the music kept the tension throughout the entire film.

Dislikes in the film

• I don’t like how the plot kept resetting and restarting because it didn’t mean there was a straightforward plot to follow, plus it meant watching a lot of what had already been seen more than once (despite slight differences) which I am not keen on. If there had been an explanation of how this was possible though, I would have liked it more. There were too many loose ends that weren’t tied up that need to be tied up.

Technical Codes• I like the use of flashbacks and flash-forwards because they help

make characters appear more three dimensional and also help explain the plot.

• I also like the masking shots (like the image in slide 2) because these show important things (multiple character emotions and symbols) in the same shot which allows the audience to reflect better on it.

• I don’t like the jump cuts though because they are what causes the restarting of the plot.

Influences to use in own production • I would like to use both masking shots and flashbacks

and flash-forwards to help convey both character emotions and help emphasise and explain the plot.

• I would also like to use a straightforward plot because I feel a straightforward plot is better than an over complex plot with no explanation to the complex areas of the plot.
