+The magazine uses the technique the route of the eye and has one main image which links to what the main article is about. The magazine uses a pull quote which is conventional. Plus the use of the main story being enlarged to show the importance of the article.

Another convention is the image being place over the top of the masthead as it is so well known that the reader doesn’t need to see the whole masthead to be able to recognise the magazine.

Conventions of Form

The use of the cover lines and their font gives a pop sense to the page as the font looks as though it has been written.

The use of the mast head in the primary optical area is conventional as most magazine also state the masthead in the same place. Also the use of the cover lines fitting around the image and not overlapping the artist is conventional.

+ Conventions of GenreThe conventions of this

magazine cover are the use of the image. It uses quite light/ bright colours with links to the genre of pop.

The use the artist is linked with the music pop genre, this would interest a reader as the magazine is has a style of pop to the genre.

The use of the font that reads ‘Tinie Tempah’ is san serif which gives a youthful/pop theme to the magazine. It looks as though the artist may have signed it himself.

+ Representation

The artist is portrayed as quite dark and mysterious by the use of the sunglasses and the seriousness of his facial expression. The way he has his hand near his neck looks as though the artist is adjusting his shirt/tie which is a typical posing for someone who believes that they are superior/ greater. The outfit that he wearing is a shirt which relates to the artists personality and serious style of music. Q uses a medium close up of the artist which is conventional for a solo artist.

+ Conventions of Form The use of the image in the middle of the page and its size shows that it is the main focus. With the image over lapping the masthead and other images its shows its importance. The colours used all fit with the typical ‘Q’ magazine colours of red, white and black.

This content page uses the technique the route of the eye with different pictures on each corner. The page has a ordered layout with the images to the right of the page and the text ordered on the left third of the page.

There is no real order to the page apart from the list of artist on the left third, the rest of the page has imagesoverlapping and stilted, this gives a mixed look to the page a little like the genre has mixed too.

+ Conventions of Genre

A convention of genre of this content are the use of the slanted images and the use of overlapping, this gives the page a busy/mixed look to the page which link to the genre of the magazine which is a mixture.

The font that is used is mostly serif, this gives a more mature look to the page, which relates to the use of the artist as he does not look particularly young.

On the left third of the page a lists of artists are names with a number to which page these star. The list of artist are from a range of genres, such as pop, rock and electronic, this is conventional as the magazine doesn’t have a specific one so it uses a mixture.

+ Representation

From the image given on this content page you get the impression that the man looks quite calm/laid back, which is completely different to the type of genre of music he plays. Plus his facial expression, the casual looking clothes and the position he is standing looks as though it he walking, provides a peaceful impression. The image is a long shot of the artist, which could also give the impression to stay away from him as his music genre is hard rock and can get quite violent. The text used is informal as there are not all full sentences, more like informative notes.
