The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, yesterday gave its ex-post facto approval for amendments to the Maternity Benefit Act, 1961 by introducing the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Bill 2016. The Bill is listed in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passing. The Maternity Benefit Act, 1961, protects the employment of women during the time of maternity and entitles them of a full paid absence from work to take care for the child. The amendment bill seeks to increase maternity leave to 26 weeks in all establishments, including private sector. The act is applicable to all establishments employing 10 or more persons. The bill also provides 12 weeks leave for commissioning and adopting mothers and makes it mandatory to provide crèche facility for establishment where the Cabinet approves extension of maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks number of workers is 50 and above. At present, the Maternity Benefit Act does not provide any maternity leave for commissioning or adopting mothers. Maternal care to the Child during early childhood is crucial for growth and development of the child. The amendments will help 18 lakh women workforce in organized sector. Port Blair, Aug 11 Vice Admiral Bimal Verma, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman & Nicobar Command visited Carnic and Campbell Bay on Aug 10-11 and took stock of various defence infrastructure projects in progress there. One of the most significant projects underway at Campbell Bay is the extension of the naval runway at INS Baaz. This, apart from its significance for defence of the Nicobar Islands, would also enable commercial aircraft to operate at Campbell Bay and would be a boost to local economy and tourism. The Commander-in-Chief took on-ground review of the various issues concerning the project. In his interaction with the defence personnel posted at Campbell Bay, he appreciated the work being done by them under difficult circumstances and CINCAN visits Carnic & Campbell Bay exhorted them to continue giving their best to the Service and to the nation. He also interacted with some of the ex-servicemen settled at Campbell Bay and enquired about their welfare. It is pertinent to mention that Campbell Bay, located close to the Six Degree Channel and Malacca Straits, one of the busiest waterways in the world, is strategically significant as the southernmost sentinel of India, a communication said. The staff of Fire Station Aberdeen headed by Shri S.S. Khan, Inspector Fire Brigade (Port Blair) swung into action and rushed to the scene with an Advanced Two girls rescued from lift at GB Pant Hospital Rescue Tender (ART). It was noticed that two girls were trapped in the lift, which they had used for moving from ground floor to first floor. Apparently, the lift was found struck in between ground and first floor due to technical defect. The Eligible beneficiaries of rural area will be identified as per the following inclusion criteria:- (i) All homeless households. (ii) Transgender (iii) Households with disabled persons (as defined in persons with Disabilities Act 1995) subject to submission of prescribed

Medical Certificate. (iv) Single women (including widows, unmarried and separated and deserted women) whether living in household as

dependents or as head of household. (v) Children living without protection. (vi) Occupationally vulnerable groups like beggars, rag-pickers, un-skilled construction workers, porters, casual daily wage

labour, casual domestic workers, cycle rickshaw driver, un-skilled workers in small household enterprises, un-skilled workers in household industries and other similar category.

(vii) Households having annual income of less than 1 Lakh subjected to submission of Certificate by Revenue Department from an Officer not below the Rank of Tehsildar.

However, applicants coming under (i) and (vi) in the above para are not required to submit income certificate. Self certification regarding their income and occupation will be enough subjected to field verification. Similarly, Self certification from shelter less, single women, children without protection or occupationally vulnerable group will be admissible.

Exclusion Criteria:- Not withstanding the household fulfilling any of the eligibility criteria mentioned above, the following households will not

be eligible. (i) If any member of the household is an employee of Central Government/State Government/Local Bodies/Corporation/

Autonomous Bodies of Central/State/Local Government. (ii) If any member of the household is income tax/service tax/professional tax payer. (iii) If any member of the household is running a Government registered Enterprises. (iv) If any member of a household owns a light(four wheeler) or heavy vehicle (except one commercial vehicle in

household for earning livelihood). (v) If any member of the household owns an air conditioner. (vi) If the household owns motorized deep sea fishing boat. (vii) If the household is receiving ration/food subsidy under any other scheme. (viii) Such other household as may be prescribed by the UT Administration. Additional Exclusion Criteria For Rural Area:- (i) If any household owns more than 1 acre of land under plantation or 2 acre of paddy land. Mode of application:- 1. The eldest female member will be treated as head of the households as per Section 13 of the National Food Security

Act, 2013. 2. The application should be submitted in the prescribed format by the head of household (Female)to the concerned Circle

Officer/Assistant Director (CS&CA)/Panchayat Office by enclosing the following documents:- a. Income certificate wherever required. b. Copy of Aadhaar Card of all family members, if available. c. (i) Raj Niwas to National Memorial Cellular Jail via Old Telephone Exchange, Vikas Bhavan (ANIIDCO), Scouts Huts Crossing, Andaman Club, Y-Narayan Junction and CRPF Barrack. (ii) Gymkhana Crossing to R. K. Mission via Dharamshala and Girls School Crossing. (iii) R. K. Mission to Government Press. (iv) Annapurna to Clock Tower (v) Clock Tower to Dharamshala (vi) R. K. Mission to Raj Niwas via Machi Line, Murugan Temple and Gandhi Park. 2. The carcade of Hon’ble Lt. Governor and other dignitaries who are holders of parking card ‘P’ shall be parked inside the Netaji Stadium and near the Andaman Club. 3. The holders of car parking label ‘P’, except the Hon’ble LG’s carcade, may use any route of their choice to approach the place of function but they are requested to reach the place of function latest by 0830 hrs failing which their vehicles will be stopped near the Gymkhana Crossing itself. 4. After the departure of the Chief Guest from the place of function, the vehicles bearing parking label “P” shall follow the route Scout Hut Junction-Vikas Bhawan-Fire Brigade-Old Telephone Exchange-APWD Crossing to their destinations. 6. After the departure of all vehicles parked inside the stadium and near Andaman Club having “P” parking label the vehicles of “P-I” parking label will be released to come to the main entrance of Netaji Stadium to pick up the guests and shall leave via Scout Hut Junction-Girls School Crossing-RK Mission and RGT Road. 7. All other vehicles without any parking label including two and four wheelers will be parked near Rajiv Gandhi Water Sports Complex and Aberdeen Jetty. 8. The vehicles intending to proceed to South Point from Aberdeen Bazar shall be diverted towards Model School Crossing – Bengali Club – Goalghar- Secretariat Junction – Police Line and Nayagaon. 9. No heavy vehicles including Private and STS buses will be allowed to proceed to Aberdeen Bazar from Gandhi Statue and Bengali Club Junction from 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs. 10. The vehicles intending to proceed to Aberdeen Bazar from South Point shall follow the route of South Point-Shadipur-Nayagaon Junction-Police Line-RBV-Secretariat Junction and Goalghar. 11. Heavy vehicles proceeding to long route shall be diverted to Goal Ghar and Junglighat from Bengali Club. 12. All the vehicular traffic shall remain suspended in the stretches from Annapurna to Clock Tower, Clock Tower to Dharamshala, Dharamshala to R.K. Mission and Raj Niwas to National Memorial via Netaji Stadium from 0830 hrs. 13. No vehicles shall be allowed to proceed towards the place of function from any side after 0830 hrs. 14. No vehicle shall be allowed to proceed to Aberdeen Bazar after the function from any direction till the crowd gets dispersed. 15. The vehicles carrying parade contingents after dropping the contingents in front of Netaji Stadium shall proceed to Water Sports Complex towards Aberdeen Jetty and will remain stationed there. After culmination of parade they will come to Netaji Stadium via Y- Narayan Junction and proceed to their respective units with their parade contingents. 16. Further vehicles intending to proceed to GB Pant Hospital shall follow the route of Gandhi Statue- Marine Gate – Sisty Nagar – Dignabad – Sea Shore Road – Khan Jn. - Cellular Jail towards GB Pant Hospital. 17. Private tourist boats carrying tourists from Aberdeen Jetty to Ross Island, North Bay etc. should be shifted to Junglighat jetty on 13/08/2016 and 15/08/2016.

Ph.D. in Horticulture/ Agricultural / Botany / Life Science Or

Graduates with three years Bachelor’s Degree, who have acquired professional Master Degree (03 years) like M.Sc. (Ag.)

Or Master’s Degree in Basic Science such as Horticulture / Agricultural/ Botany/ Life Science and have qualified NET* and have 02 years research experience. *Any National level examination conducted by the Central Govt. Depts. / Agencies / Institute for admission to Ph.D. Programme are Considered as NET for the Purpose of RA/SRF, such as: CSIR-CSIR-UGC National Edibility Test. MHRD – Graduate Aptitude Test in engineering admission. DBT – Biotechnology Eligibility Test & test conducted in Bioinformatics by Bioinformatics National Consortium DAE-JAST & JGEEBILS, NBHM ICME-JRF Entrance Examination ICAR-Test conducted by ICAR for admission to Ph.D. Programme. work 1. Survey, collection and identification of native ornamentals of Andaman, Niocbar and Lakshadweep Islands 2. Documentation and cataloguing of the native ornamentals 3. Conservation of native ornamentals by ex-situ and in-situ method

Conditions: 1. Candidates should bring their original and attested copies of certificate of all documents supporting their educational qualifications and experience at the time of Walk-in-Interview. 2. Age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC. 3. The above position is purely temporary and will be filled on contract basis. There is no provision of re-engagement after termination of the project. 4. The PI of the project has sole right to terminate the staff, if his performance is consistently below average or such other reasons deemed to be fit. 5. All eligible candidates are requested to be present 01 (One) hour before scheduled time on the date of Interview for necessary formalities. 6. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. 7. The decision of the Director, CIARI, Port Blair will be final and binding in all respects.
