Once parents have successfully registered, they can login to the system and then must register their students by name. To Book Appointments Parents can schedule appointments for any student that they have added to the system by clicking on the “Appointments” button beside the student’s name. The parent is then taken to a page where they can select the teachers with whom they wish to meet. Multiple teachers can be selected by using the “Ctrl” key on a PC keyboard or the “Command” key on a Macintosh keyboard. Teacher Appointment Calendars Parents are shown the calendars of the selected teachers. It also shows the appointment times that are unavailable for booking. Parents can select appointment times by simply clicking the check boxes or by clicking in the time block beside the check box. Once an appointment time has been selected it will change to green. It is not possible for parents to select more than one appointment at the same time or to select more than one appointment with the same teacher. They can book additional appointments, or they can book appointments for another student. Parents with More Than One Student If a parent has more than one student at the school, the teacher appointment calendars will have an additional feature displayed when the second (or third, etc.) student bookings are made. If a sibling has an appointment booked, the student’s name will be displayed for a parent, thus making it easier to book adjacent appointments. Printing Parent Appointment Schedule From the home page it is possible for you to generate a PDF document with the list of your appointments. By clicking on the “Print Appointments” button a window will pop-up asking the parent what they wish to do with the document. In Internet Explorer, it is recommended that you click the “Save” button, save the file and then click “Open” to view the file. IE sometimes has a problem downloading and opening PDF documents that are generated from web sites. Click “Open” after the download is complete to view the PDF. Hey LCHS: Did you know that Leduc Composite High School is operating a very successful Green Certificate Pro-gram in the province?
What is the Green Certificate Program?
It is an apprenticeship style training program serving the agriculture industry.
How does it work?
Alberta Agriculture and Forestry (AAF) works in partnership with the agriculture industry and Alberta Edu-cation (via the off campus education policy) to offer the Green Certificate Program to all Albertans. Train-ees select a specialization and under the guidance of their trainer, work towards mastering all of the skills within their training program.
What is in it for me, as a high school student?
·Earn 16 grade twelve diploma credits per specialization completed.
·Have fun learning more about agriculture in a practical, hands-on environment.
·Increase your knowledge and skill level and gain valuable work experience.
·Reach further educational goals; many post-secondary agricultural institutions and scholarship programs look favorably upon Green Certificate involvement.
·Explore career options in the agriculture industry.
·Earn recognition for what you can already do on the farm.
·Learn more about crops or animals, agriculture, machinery and farming operations.
·Include the experience and training on your resume and add the certificate of completion to your portfo-lio.

Thank you for sharing with your school council members and parent community.
As a follow up to Minister Eggen’s announcement earlier today, he would like to provide you with details on Alberta Education’s Minister’s Youth Council.
The new Minister’s Youth Council aligns with Alberta Education’s desire to ensure that students have the opportunity to provide input on education initiatives and engage with the ministry as partners. It gives the Minister of Education and Alberta Education the ability to recognize student voice and engage with a representative group of students across Alberta.
Purpose, Selection Criteria and Term for the Minister’s Youth Council
The council will consist of approximately 32 junior and senior high school students with diverse interests, identities, backgrounds and perspectives from all regions of Alberta.
It will be a 10-month term that will align with the school year beginning in 2017-18. As council members, students will meet three times during the school year: September, February and May. Meetings will begin Friday evening and run through to Monday afternoon. As well, there will be an opportunity for the students to interact with each other outside of these meetings to discuss ideas and upcoming activities.
Process and Deadline for Submissions for the Minister’s Youth Council
Interested junior and senior high school students can apply directly to Alberta Education by May 5, 2017. Information and steps on how to apply can be found on the Alberta Education Student Engagement website.
Support Materials for Parents, Teachers and School Authorities
Alberta Education has developed communication tools and information regarding recruitment of the Minister’s Youth Council to share with your school communities. These materials are posted on the Alberta Education Student Engagement website. The online communication tools include the following samples:
· School newsletter article; Frequently Asked Questions;
· Recruitment poster; · Information postcard; · Web banners; · PowerPoint presentation and speaking notes; and · Sample Social Media posts.
If you have any questions regarding the provincial student engagement strategy, please contact Mark Bevan, Director, Strategic Engagement Branch at [email protected] or 780-644-1809 (toll-free by first dialing 310-0000).
The Minister appreciates your assistance in promoting awareness and encouraging the participation of your school council and school community in supporting junior and senior high students to submit applications.
