Do You Love Me? – Three times Jesus poses this question to Peter: “Do you love me?” When Peter responds, “Yes,” the Lord’s command is to tend or feed his sheep. Ultimately, at the conclusion of this exchange, Jesus invites Peter to follow him. As we continue to celebrate the joy of the resurrection of Jesus and as we anticipate his Ascension into heaven, we reflect on the many ways the Lord reveals his love for us and how he stirs our hearts to respond
with words and deeds of love for him. As we profess our love for Jesus, our call is to be his hands and hearts in the world. We are to treat others as if THEY are Christ and as if WE are Christ. In this we follow him as his faithful disciples and invite others to do so, as well. As we continue to journey On Mission for The Church Alive! we are presented with opportunities to love Christ and others in new ways. May we take advantage of these opportunities as we follow Jesus and build up the Church.
Visit onmissionchurchalive.org to learn more and to stay informed.
Correction: The photo in the bulletin last week was of the Choir Boys from St. Ignatius Church; they were not the altar servers (but that photo is coming soon!). In case you missed it, you can see last week’s bulletin at cgscatholic.org. Do you have an old parish photo? Share it with us at [email protected].

One other note: I am truly grateful to all of those who organized, prepared and served the parish fish fries in each of our
parishes. The work is hard and tiring. You leave every Friday with clothing that smells like the ocean. Fish fries do not happen
and are not successful without dedicated volunteers. Each parish will soon publish the results of their efforts. Thank you!!
Well, we’ve now experienced the first Easter Triduum as a new grouping of parishes. It was wonderful. Many
folks from each of the parishes traveled (some for the first time) to the other sacred places to commemorate the
Lord’s sacrifice as a new “community”. We had participation by Altar Servers and Cantors from all of the
parishes. There was representation from each in the “Mandatum” ceremony of Holy Thursday; the traditional
Choir that made its debut at Christmas has grown in both number and repertoire and added greatly to the
solemnity of the three days. The SEAS Contemporary Choir enhanced Easter Sunday. Three new members of
the Catholic Church were initiated! All of the church buildings were beautifully decorated for each occasion
AND the number of participants was fantastic! Sincere thanks to all who made the celebrations solemn and
worthy: Deacon Kevin Lander (who trained and practiced the dedicated altar servers) Deacon Jim Mackin
(who presided over and participated in many ceremonies) Bela Pater, (director of music ministries); Mark
Carver and visiting organists; Bethann Petrovich (SSJ faith formation program manager); Nancy Spinnewebber
(SMOS faith formation program manager); Paul Lim, Jim Massengale & Josh Short who acted as Masters of
Ceremonies; all of the Altar Servers (many of whom served for all of the Triduum ceremonies) Extraordinary
Ministers of the Eucharist, Ushers, church decorators and all who greeted visitors on Holy Thursday night.
Special appreciation to staff and volunteers who spent numerous hours in cleaning and sprucing up our three
churches.
Each of the parishes received a new Easter Candle lighted first at the Easter Vigil. Easter water, blessed at the
Vigil with the Easter Candle was transported and mixed with the holy water dispensers at each site to
symbolize the unity of our parishes during this most sacred of celebrations.
There are many signs that we are moving well in the direction of a new community. The events of the Lenten
and early Easter seasons attended by so many from each parish is heartening. I attended the SMOS “Palm
Cross making workshop” on Palm Sunday and saw many women and men from the three parishes enjoying
each other’s company and the chance to create something beautiful for their homes. The Christian Mothers
from SEAS provided the luncheon as SMOS provided the site and the materials for the project. The Parish
Mission gathered folks from all three sacred places and was well attended and received. The SMOS Easter Egg
hunt for the kids of all three parishes provided fun for over 80 children.
Personally, it was a joy for me to celebrate Priesthood and concelebrate the Mass with Father Alek, Fr. Robin,
Fr. Jerome and our helper Fr. Guedewicz. I received comments from some about how nice it was to see the
priests together (as we are always spread out on the weekends)! The priests worked in their regular dedicated
manner to make possible all of the offerings of Mass and devotion times available in all three buildings.
The total number of attendees for the Easter weekend (10 Masses) was 4,460!

Thank you to all who submitted advice on the matter through our recent survey.

BIBLE STUDY TIME
Right now, and continuing throughout the whole of the Easter Season, wise Mother Church takes us through what could be called an intensive, Church-wide Bible Study on the book of Acts. And like most bible studies, we will gain from it in proportion to how much prayerful attention we give to it. The Church blesses us with this opportunity every year at this time, to bring to our attention why - and how - the apostles and disciples of Jesus responded to his death, resurrection, and ascension, and how important the work of the Holy Spirit was in relation to their staying in Christian community with each other, in spite of opposition, strife, and even death. We study, though, not just for information, but for transformation. If you haven't been able to come to daily Mass during this Holy Season, try reading the daily Mass readings on your own, which can be easily found at www.usccb.org. And, don't just read them, but pray them; and don't just pray them, but act on them. Here are just a few of the great lines we've already covered in recent days: "God raised this Jesus; Exalted at the right hand of God, he poured forth the promise of the Holy Spirit..." (Do you believe this has/can continue to happen in your life, that the Holy Spirit does/will come if we just ask in faith?) "It is impossible for us not to speak about what we have seen and heard." (Do you take regular time to recognize and reflect on what God has done in your life? Are you able to freely share these events with appropriate people?) "And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and enable your servants to speak your word with all boldness."... "As they prayed, the place where they were gathered shook, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness." (What threats against peace do you experience in your life? Can you pray this prayer? Can you pray so intensely and intentionally that you sense the presence of the Holy Spirit?) "The community of believers was of one heart and mind, and no one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they had everything in common. With great power the Apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. (Do you see the value of, and appreciate, being part of a community of believers? Do you see the 'witness' that this community gives to the world around us?) "...during the night, the angel of the Lord opened the doors of the prison, led them out, and said, "Go and take your place in the temple area, and tell the people everything about this life." (When have your own ‘prison’ doors been suddenly – miraculously - opened? How did you respond? ...Did you share the information about your freedom with others, giving the Lord the credit?) Continue learning, loving, and living Jesus within the context of Christian Community by preparing for the readings at Mass beforehand, by joining a Bible Study or Faith-Sharing Group, and/or by coming to extra Masses during the week and hearing the Word of God 'broken open' by our priest/celebrant. If you are interested in joining a Bible Study or Faith-Sharing Group, contact the parish offices, who can direct you to the right person to help you!)
"Repent, therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be wiped away, and that the Lord may grant you times of refreshment and send you the Christ already appointed for you..."
FAITH FORMATION REMINDER: Assessments will be distributed after the May Crowning on May 13. These will not be mailed home. A flyer with more details will be distributed in class tomorrow evening, May 6.
