The Government of Syria is notified in advance of each shipment and a UN monitoring mechanism was established to oversee loading in neighboring countries and confirm the humanitarian nature of consignments. The boundaries and names shown and the designations used on this map do not imply official endorsement or acceptance by the United Nations. Given the challenges the sector faces in measuring individual beneficiaries, the indicator for the number of medical procedures is used as an aggregate indicator that servesas a proxy measure for overall progress in health service delivery in covered areas.
