Topic : Unit 7: From the Sea
Focused skill : Reading
Content standard : 2.2 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to demonstrate understanding of a variety of linear and non-linear texts in the form of print and non-print materials using a range of strategies to construct meaning.
Learning standard : 2.2.2 Able to read and understand phrases and sentences in linear and non-linear texts.
Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Read aloud about the food recipes based on the information given.
- Answer 10 comprehension questions given by finding the information based from the given food menus.
- Answer 3 riddle questions about the food recipes correctly.
Vocabulary : Fish, crab, prawn, squid, steamed, garlic, onion, lemongrass, cooking oil, salt and sugar.
Moral value (s) : To encourage pupils to appreciate the nature (the sea) in order to protect the sea creature.
To inculcate cooperation while carrying out any activities.
Teaching aids : Picture of seafood, food recipes, worksheet and sets of riddle questions.
Thinking skill : Making association and connections, and analysing.
Multiple intelligences : Verbal linguistic, intrapersonal skills, interpersonal skills.

(5 minutes)
1. To get pupils
ready for the
lesson.
1. Teacher will display a picture
that contains several of seafood.
2. Based on the picture, teacher
will ask several questions.
Example:
- What can you see in the
picture?
- Can you list down the sea
creatures that you can see
from the picture?
- Do you like seafood?
- Why?

(15 minutes)
1. To introduce
new vocabulary
1. Teacher displays food recipes,
mostly consisting of seafood.
The food recipes are from
‘Ombak Restaurant’.
2. There will be some information
about each recipe.
Examples of information:
- Ingredients
- Ways to cook
- Price
3. Teacher will read the seafood
recipes from the board.
4. Teacher will explain about the
recipes to pupil.

groups.

3. Each group have to read aloud
to the rest of the class about the

each recipes displayed by
teacher in the presentation
stage.

1. Each pupil will be given a set
of worksheet that contains
food recipes and 10
comprehension questions.
2. They will have to answer the
questions given.
3. After they have finished
answering the questions,
teacher will discuss the correct
answer together with the
pupils.
