    1. Watson (1995) suggests that pragmatic pluralism is a theoretical strategy that can befollowed in investigating any particular phenomenon in the broad area of industrial

    sociology. Drawing from any two strands offer an explanation of individual behaviour in theworkplace.

    2. Philosophically, the postmodernists are incorrect in their interpretation of the Modern age.Rather than having exhausted its possibilities it has yet to realize them. Discuss this

    statement with reference to Post-industrial society theory.

    3. What is the value of Tomaneys concept of Flexible Taylorism in furthering ourunderstanding of the effect of the new technologies on the relations between managementand workers at the workplace.

    4. Bravermans analysis (of the labour process) played such a crucial role in later debates

    because he combined a renewal of Marxs categories and an explanation of the dominanttrends in the world of work. Provide a critique of Bravermans thesis.

    5. How is the current revolution in the information technology and knowledge-based workactivities changing the world of work?

    6. Although efforts at industrialization in the Caribbean in the contemporary period represent areplay of the efforts made in the 1960s, the reasons for the lack of success in the two periods
