Cleantech – this concept has not stopped

gaining ground in media coverage since in

October 2010 when the President of the Swiss

Confederation, Doris Leuthard, pointed the

way for a sustainable economy.

Cleantech is not an idle word of politicians

or the big names of the industry. We have

everything in our hands when we go shopping,

whether at a store or online, to contribute in a

very real and personal way to the more appro-

priate management of our planet’s resources.

We should consider every product with curiosity

and examine it with a critical eye: We want to

know from where it comes, how it was

produced and why we need it.

We at Switcher ask ourselves daily these

three questions – why? how? where? – and this

for thirty years. This attitude assures

the traceability of our products.

The Fair Wear Foundation carries out inde-

pendent controls of our suppliers, no matter

how well safety and confi dence are guaranteed,

even at our most faraway partners.

Cleantech allows everyone of our team

to exercise his responsibility. As a company,

we must be able to give unequivocal answers to

those three questions. As consumers, we must

give proof that we are curious and critical.

Our planet and our health will thank us for it.

gagner du terrain dans les medias depuis

qu’en octobre 2010 la Présidente de la

Confédération Doris Leuthard a indiqué

la voie de l’économie durable.

Cleantech n’est pas un vain mot de

politiciens ou de ténors de l’industrie. Nous

pouvons tous agir au moment de nos achats,

que ce soit en magasin ou en ligne. Nous

participons ainsi d’une manière très concrète

et personnelle à une meilleure gestion des res-

sources de notre planète. Chaque produit doit

être approché avec curiosité : nous voulons

connaître sa provenance, savoir comment il a

été produit et pourquoi nous en avons besoin.

Chez Switcher, ces trois questions –

pourquoi ? comment ? où ? – nous nous les

posons chaque jour depuis trente ans. Nous

assurons ainsi la traçabilité de nos produits.

Fair Wear Foundation effectue des

contrôles indépendants auprès de nos

fournisseurs, si bien que la sécurité et la

confi ance sont garanties même auprès de

nos partenaires les plus éloignés.

Cleantech permet à chacun de nous d’exer-

cer sa responsabilité. En tant qu’entreprise,

nous nous devons d’apporter des réponses

claires à chacune des trois questions.

En tant que consommateurs, nous devons

nous montrer curieux et critiques. Notre

planète et notre santé nous en sauront gré.

Cleantech – das Konzept gewinnt an Raum

in den Medien, seit Bundespräsidentin Doris

Leuthard im Oktober 2010 den Weg zu einer

nachhaltigen Wirtschaft aufgezeigt hat.

Cleantech ist nicht bloss ein Schlagwort für

Politikerinnen und Industriekapitäne. Sie und

ich haben es in der Hand, bei unseren Einkäu-

fen am Ladentisch oder im Online-Shop ganz

konkret und persönlich zum besseren Umgang

mit unserem Planeten beizutragen: indem

wir neugierig und kritisch von jedem Produkt

wissen wollen, woher es stammt, wie es herge-

stellt wurde und warum wir es brauchen.

Diese drei Fragen – warum? wie? wo? –

stellen wir uns bei Switcher seit dreissig Jahren

jeden Tag. Damit sichern wir die Rückverfolg-

barkeit unserer Produkte.

Die unabhängige Kontrolle unserer

Lieferanten durch die Fair Wear Foundation

sorgt für Sicherheit und Vertrauen auch dort,

wo wir mit Drittpartnern arbeiten.

Cleantech nimmt uns alle in die Verantwor-

tung. Als Unternehmen müssen wir auf die drei

einfachen Fragen glasklare Antworten geben.

Beim Konsumieren müssen wir neugierig und

Switcher is a worldwide pioneer when it comes to transparency in manufacturing of its textiles and accessories and goes further than other brands. Since 2006, all of our products are tagged with the label Respect Code that allows full traceability of our products from raw material to distribution in Switzerland. All our partners involved in the manufacturing process, as well as the certificates of producers and raw materials can be traced back. The Respect Code provides consumers with the necessary information to act in an ethically correct, respectful as well as socially and environmentally responsible way.

Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is a European multi-stakeholder initiative, which strives for fair working conditions in the garment industry worldwide. FWF verifies effective implementation of the code of conduct by its member companies and their suppliers. Switcher was the first Swiss textile company to become a member of FWF in 2006.The member companies commit themselves to respecting the following labour standards:

• Employment is freely chosen• No discrimination in employment• No exploitation of child labour• Freedom of association and the right

to collective bargaining• Payment of a living wage• No excessive working hours• Safe and healthy working conditions• Legally binding employment relationship

By the end of 2010, there will be 65 companies as members of the Fair Wear Foundation (FWF).

La transparence est une valeur essentielle pour

Switcher. Dès 2006, Switcher a mis en place

un outil pour la publication des données sur

internet. La traçabilité de la totalité des modèles

vendus est publiée. En saisissant le code figurant

sur l’étiquette intérieure de chaque modèle,

vous serez informé des étapes et des processus

traversés par votre produit, depuis les matières

premières jusqu’à la distribution en Suisse.

Respect-Code permet aux consommateurs de

connaître également les valeurs immatérielles,

environnementales et sociales de chaque produit

pour un achat responsable.

Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) est une initiative

européenne multi-partenaires qui vérifie

l’amélioration des conditions de travail des

chaînes de production de l’industrie textile.

Elle contrôle également l’application des codes

de conduite de ses entreprises membres.

En 2006, Switcher fut la première société suisse

à intégrer FWF.

Les entreprises membres s’engagent à respecter

les standards internationaux de travail suivants :

• Travail librement choisi

• Absence de discrimination au travail

• Interdiction du travail des enfants

• Liberté d’association et droit aux négociations

collectives

• Salaire permettant de subvenir aux besoins

élémentaires d’une famille moyenne selon

les normes locales

• Pas de durée excessive du travail

• Conditions de travail respectueuses

de la sécurité et de la santé des travailleurs

• Contrat de travail

A fin 2010, 65 entreprises textiles sont membres

de FWF.

Seit 2006 sind alle Produkte auf der Innenseite mit dem Respekt- Code versehen, der die vollständige Rückver-folgbarkeit des Produktes vom Rohstoff bis zur Distribution in die Schweiz ermöglicht. Alle in den Herstellungsprozess involvierten Partner sowie Zertifizierungen von Produzenten und Rohstoffen können eingesehen werden. Der Respekt-Code ist eine Entscheidungsgrundlage für den Konsu-menten, um ethisch korrekt, respektvoll, sozial- und umweltverantwortlich zu handeln.

Die Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) ist eine euro-päische Multi-Stakeholder-Initiative, die sich für die Verbesserung der Arbeitsbedingungen in der Bekleidungsindustrie einsetzt. Editorial of the Department for Sustainable Development

The garment industry is essentially based upon

a strong human capital.

In the emerging countries being the major

manufacturers, the social challenges are

the struggle for fair wages, the improvement

of working conditions and the lowering

of health risks for the workers. When cultivating

and converting fibres, workers are often

exposed to noxious chemical substances without

being provided with individual protection

equipment. They have to do assembly

line work, work overtime which often are neither

paid nor can be compensated and they still

have not acquired the right of social dialogue.

The clothing market presents an important

environmental impact and this industry can,

therefore, prove to be polluting if no adequate

protection measures are implemented.

In addition, the environmental impacts

produced by the production and by processes

linked to its utilisation are considerable:

washing, drying, ironing etc. The choice of

a garment of high quality (high degree of color

fastness and dimensional stability, no shrinkage)

markedly enhances its lifetime. Since when

the garment cannot be worn anymore,

recovery of used clothing enables the provision

of the recycling industry of textiles.

Switcher commits itself from day to day

to improve the working conditions of labourers

in cooperation with its partners, such as Fair

Wear Foundation and Max Havelaar: Code of

conduct, audits, independent verification etc.

Switcher is also actively concerned about

the environmental problems: life cycle, CO2

footprint, offsetting for greenhouse gas

emissions, water consumption index, natural

and recycled materials.

The actions concerning sustainable development

which are based upon transparency and

traceability are published in the annual report.

L’industrie de l’habillement est basée

essentiellement sur une production à fort

capital humain.

Dans les pays en voie de développement,

principaux producteurs, les enjeux sociaux

concernent la lutte pour des salaires décents,

l’amélioration des conditions de travail

et la réduction des risques pour la santé

des ouvriers. Lors de la culture et du

traitement des fibres, les travailleurs sont

souvent exposés à des substances chimiques

nocives, sans disposer systématiquement

d’équipements de protection individuelle.

Ils doivent travailler à la chaîne, faire

des heures supplémentaires, souvent ni

rémunérées ni compensées et ne disposent

pas toujours du droit à la négociation.

Le marché de l’habillement présente un

poids environnemental important et cette

industrie peut donc s’avérer polluante si

l’on ne prend pas les mesures de protection

adéquates.

En plus des impacts environnementaux

liés à la production, ceux liés à l’utilisation

sont très importants : lavage, séchage,

repassage, etc. Le choix d’un vêtement de

qualité supérieure (bonne tenue des couleurs

et des formes, pas de rétrécissement) permet

d’augmenter nettement leur durée de vie.

Puis lorsque le vêtement n’est plus portable,

sa récupération permet d’alimenter

les filières de recyclage de textiles.

Switcher s’engage au quotidien

à l’amélioration des conditions de travail

des ouvriers avec ses partenaires tels que

Fair Wear Foundation et Max Havelaar :

code de conduite, audits, vérification

indépendante, etc.

Switcher est également active sur

les problématiques environnementales : cycle

de vie, index CO2, compensation des gaz

à effet de serre, index consommation d’eau,

matières naturelles et recyclées.

Les actions liées au développement durable

et basées sur la transparence et la traçabilité

sont publiées dans le rapport annuel.

Die Bekleidungsindustrie beruht im

Wesentlichen auf einer Produktion mit hohem

Personalkapital.

Die wichtigsten Produzenten sind Entwick-

lungsländer, die im sozialen Bereich mit dem

Kampf um anständige Löhne, der Verbesserung

der Arbeitsbedingungen und den Gesund-

heitsrisiken für die Arbeitnehmer konfrontiert

sind. Beim Anbau und der Verarbeitung der

Fasern werden die Arbeitenden häufig schäd-

lichen chemischen Substanzen ausgesetzt,

ohne systematisch über individuelle Schutz

Ausrüstungen zu verfügen. Sie arbeiten am

Fliessband, müssen häufig weder bezahlte noch

kompensierte Überstunden leisten und haben

oft keine Verhandlungsrechte.

Der Bekleidungsmarkt fällt als Umweltfaktor

stark ins Gewicht und hat verschmutzende

Auswirkungen, wenn keine angemessenen

Schutzmassnahmen getroffen werden.

Neben der Produktion hat auch die Nutzung

der Textilien wie Waschen, Trocknen, Bügeln

usw. einen Einfluss auf die Umwelt. Durch die

Wahl von Kleidern mit höherer Qualität (farb-

und formbeständig, nicht eingehend) kann ihre

Lebensdauer wesentlich verlängert werden.

Wenn sie nicht mehr tragbar sind, erlaubt

zudem das Recycling die Wiederverwertung

der Textilfasern.

Switcher setzt sich gemeinsam mit Partnern

wie Fair Wear Foundation und Max Havelaar

täglich für die Verbesserung der Arbeitsbedin-

gungen ein: Verhaltenscode, Audits, unabhän-

gige Überprüfung, usw.

Switcher ist auch im Umweltschutzbereich

aktiv: Lebenszyklus, CO2-Index, Kompensie-

rung der Gase mit Treibhauseffekt, Wasserver-

brauchsindex, Recycling der Naturrohstoffe.

Die Anstrengungen zugunsten der nachhal-

tigen Entwicklung, der Transparenz und der

Rückverfolgbarkeit werden im Jahresbericht

dokumentiert.

Switcher SA makes a clear distinction

between its social responsibility core business,

meaning the working and manufacturing

conditions of its commercial activities, and

the voluntary contribution to the community.

For this purpose Switcher has created its own

Foundation in 2004 .

The purpose of the Switcher Foundation

is to organise and support, in Switzerland and

abroad, tangible projects directed

at sustainable development in the fields

of childhood, education and training.

In Switzerland the Foundation is developing

the “T-School Project”, a pedagogical project

to make young people aware of the various

social and ecological aspects of the garments

supply chain. Carried out in cooperation with

the Freudenberg College of Zurich, this project

is presently successfully brought to several

college schools in Switzerland.

Abroad, priority is given to primary

schooling of about 700 children in various

regions of India and Africa, be it in day

nurseries, schools or mobile class rooms.

In the South of India (Tirupur), Switcher’s

schools and mobile schools disseminate free

education at preschool centres and secondary

levels. For over 10 years they have enabled

thousands of children from underprivileged

families to have access to education.

In Burkina Faso, which is one of the African

countries producing organic cotton, the

Foundation supports the Women’s Association

Pag Yiidgri in its activities for preschool

education and the rights of children. It supports

in particular preschool education for children

aged 3 to 6 years.

production de ses activités commerciales,

et le retour qu’elle aimerait donner à la

communauté sous forme de contribution

volontaire. À cet effet, Switcher a créé

sa propre Fondation en 2004.

La Fondation Switcher a pour but d’orga-

niser et de soutenir en Suisse et à l’étranger

des projets concrets liés au développement

durable, notamment dans les domaines de

l’enfance, l’éducation et la formation.

En Suisse, la Fondation développe « T-School

Project », un projet pédagogique scolaire

qui sensibilise les jeunes aux divers aspects

sociaux et écologiques de toute la chaîne de

production textile. Réalisé en collaboration

avec la Kantonsschule Freudenberg de

Zurich, ce projet est actuellement dispensé

avec succès dans plusieurs écoles secondaires

en Suisse.

A l’étranger, la priorité est la scolarisation

de base d’environ 700 enfants dans différentes

régions d’Inde et d’Afrique, que ce soit

dans des garderies, des écoles ou encore dans

des bus scolaires.

Dans le sud de l’Inde (Tirupur), les écoles

et écoles mobiles Switcher dispensent un

enseignement gratuit de la section maternelle

au niveau secondaire. Depuis plus de 10 ans,

elles ont permis à des milliers d’enfants

issus de familles défavorisées d’accéder

à l’éducation.

Au Burkina Faso, l’un des pays africains

producteurs de coton organique, la fondation

appuie l’association féminine Pag Yiidgri

dans le cadre d’activités relatives à l’éducation

de la petite enfance et du droit des enfants.

Elle soutient notamment plusieurs écoles

maternelles pour enfants âgés de 3 à 6 ans.

freiwilliger Leistungen. Zu diesem Zweck hat

Switcher im Jahr 2004 eine eigene Stiftung

gegründet.

Die Fondation Switcher organisiert und

unterstützt in der Schweiz und im Ausland

konkrete Projekte zur nachhaltigen Entwick-

lung in den Bereichen Kindheit, Schule und

Ausbildung.

In der Schweiz entwickelt die Stiftung das

„T-School Project”, ein pädagogisches Schul-

projekt, das die Jugendlichen für verschiedene

soziale und ökologische Aspekte der gesam-

ten Textilproduktionskette sensibilisiert. Das

in Zusammenarbeit mit der Kantonsschule

Freudenberg in Zürich realisierte Projekt wird

gegenwärtig erfolgreich an verschiedenen

Gymnasien der Schweiz durchgeführt.

Im Ausland liegt die Priorität auf der Grund-

schulung für rund 700 Kinder in verschiedenen

Regionen Indiens und Afrikas, sei es in Kinder-

horten, Schulen oder mobilen Klassenzimmern.

In Südindien (Tirupur) erteilen die Schulen

und mobilen Schulen von Switcher einen kos-

tenlosen Unterricht vom Kindergarten bis zur

Sekundarschulstufe. Seit mehr als 10 Jahren

haben sie tausenden von Kindern aus benach-

teiligten Familien den Zugang zur Bildung

ermöglicht.

In Burkina Faso, einem der afrikanischen

Länder, die organische Baumwolle produzieren,

fördert unsere Stiftung Kleinkinderschulung

und Kinderrechte in Zusammenarbeit mit der

Frauenvereinigung Pag Yiidgri. Sie unterstützt

namentlich mehrere Kindergärten für Kinder

im Alter von 3 bis 6 Jahren.

The worldwide rates for cotton have soared

and in view of this rise the entire textile industry

has had to suffer the consequences. The recent

climatic catastrophes have contributed

to the nervousness of the market. The terrible

floods in Pakistan and the landslides in China

have destroyed a significant part of the global

production, of which those two countries

represent almost 40%. Today the cultivation of

organic (biological) cotton represents still less

than 1% of the worldwide production.

The present catalogue features 12 models

made of organic cotton and breaks new

ground by offering 12 references with the

Global Organic Textile Standard (G.O.T.S.)

label. 32 references are made of recycled PET

with a significantly improved Environmental

Performance Index (CO2 and H2O).

et, face à cette hausse, c’est toute la filière

du textile et de l’habillement qui en subit les

conséquences. Les récentes catastrophes

climatiques ont augmenté la nervosité du

marché. Les terribles inondations au Pakistan

et les glissements de terrains en Chine ont

détruit une part importante de la production

mondiale, dont ces deux pays représentent

près de 40%. Aujourd’hui, la culture du coton

organique (biologique) représente toujours

moins de 1% de la production mondiale.

32 réfé rences sont à base de PET recyclé, avec

des impacts environnementaux sensiblement

meilleurs (index CO2 et H2O).

The entire new Switch Teamsport collection has

been made using eco-care polyester yarn

obtained from recycled PET bottles. On average,

15 PET bottles are recycled to produce one

Der Respekt-Code ermöglicht die Rückverfolgbarkeit der Produkte vom Rohstoff bis zum Fertigprodukt und den Transport zu Switcher.

Das Label MaxHavelaar steht dafür, dass die Bauern für ihre Baumwolle einen festen Preis erhalten, der nicht den Marktschwankungen unterworfen ist und der es erlaubt, die Produkti-onskosten zu decken. Hinzu kommt eine Prämie, die von der lokalen Genossenschaft der Baumwoll-bauern selbstständig, unter Aufsicht von MaxHa-velaar verwaltet, und für die Verbesserung der Lebens- oder Arbeitsbedingungen eingesetzt wird.

Der Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) ist der weltweit führende Textilverarbeitungs-standard für organische Fasern. Er beinhaltet ökologische und soziale Kriterien, gestützt durch unabhängige Zertifizierung für die ganze textile Beschaffungskette.

Beim Anbau von Bio-Baumwolle wird gänzlich auf chemisch-synthetische Dünger und Pflan-zenschutzmittel verzichtet. Die Verwendung von gentechnisch verändertem Saatgut ist verboten. Die Bio-Baumwolle wird in Abwechslung mit anderen Feldfrüchten angebaut und mit Mist und Kompost gedüngt, was die Bodenfruchtbarkeit erhält oder sogar verbessert.

Der Index gibt den Ausstoss von Kohlendioxid (CO2) und anderer Schadstoffe in Kilogramm (kg) des gesamten Herstellungsprozesses (Rohstoffge-winnung bis Fertigprodukt), sowie dem Transport vom Produktionsort zum Switcher-Verkaufspunkt an. 1 kg CO2 entspricht für eine Person rund sieben Fahrkilometer in einem Kleinwagen oder sechs Flugkilometer in einem Linienflugzeug.

Das myclimate klimaneutral-Label für Produkte sagt aus, dass alle Emissionen, die durch dieses Produkt entstanden sind, in hochwertigen mycli-mate-Klimaschutzprojekten ausgeglichen werden. Berechnet werden die Emissionen entlang des gesamten Lebensyklus des Produkts.

Dieser Index definiert den «Water Impact», d.h. die Auswirkungen der Verwendung und der Verschmutzung von Wasser während des gesamten Lebenszyklusses, von der Herstellung der Rohstoffe bis zu den Verkaufspunkten. Diese Auswirkungen berücksichtigen alle Brauch- und Schmutzwassermengen unter Beachtung ihrer Verfügbarkeit am Verbrauchsort.

Switcher Produkte mit dem Recycled-PET-Label sind aus öko-care Polyestergarner von recyklieren PET-Flaschen gefertigt. Für die Herstellung einer Jacke werden rund 15 1.5l PET-Flaschen benötigt.

SA8000 ist ein zertifizierbarer Standard zu Arbeitsbedingungen und Arbeitnehmerrechten in Produktions, und Dienstleistungsunternehmen. Bei entsprechend ausgezeichneten Produkten ist mindestens ein Fabrikant in der Produktionskette SA8000 zertifiziert.

Die Hohenstein Institute sind ein international anerkanntes Forschungs- und Dienstleistungs-zentrum. Die Forschungsergebnisse, Tests und Zertifikate erfüllen höchste Ansprüche. Sie dienen Herstellern und Einkäufern auf dem internationalen Markt für Berufskleidung als sichere Referenz. Die Linie Industrial Wash von Switcher ist mit dem Hohenstein Zertifikat HQS 704 ausgezeichnet.

Der Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 ist ein weltweit einheitliches Prüf- und Zertifizierungssystem für textile Produkte aller Verarbeitungsstufen. Diese Etikette bezeichnet die Modele, die konform der Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Kriterien sind. Die Schadstoffprüfungen umfassen gesetzlich verbotene und reglementierte Substanzen, bekanntermassen gesundheitsbedenkliche Chemikalien sowie Parameter zur Gesundheitsvorsorge.

Das europäische Chemikaliengesetz. REACH ist die seit Juni 2007 geltende Verordnung zur Regist-rierung, Bewertung, Zulassung und Beschränkung chemischer Stoffe. Seit diesem Datum müssen alle Produkte, die auf dem europäischen Markt verkauft werden, REACH konform produziert werden. Ziel der REACH Verordnung ist es, schnell und global zu reagieren, wenn schädliche Substanzen bekannt werden.

Die Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) ist eine inter-nationale Verifizierungsinitiative, die weltweit eine Verbesserung der Arbeitsbedingungen in der Textilindustrie bezweckt. Sie arbeitet eng zusammen mit einer ständig wachsenden Zahl von Unternehmen, die Kleidung oder andere Konfek-tionsartikel herstellen. Die FWF überprüft die Umsetzung von Verbesserungsmassnahmen bei ihren Mitgliedern und trägt dank Bündelung von Wissensaustausch, Sozialdialog und engen industriellen Beziehungen wesentlich zur Effek-tivität dieser Massnahmen bei. Switcher ist Mitglied seit 2006.

Die Fondation Switcher unterstützt und orga-nisiert konkrete Projekte zur Förderung einer nachhaltigen Entwicklung in der Schweiz und im Ausland. Sie setzt sich vor allem für Kinder, Erzie-hung und Ausbildung ein.

Die Non-Profit-Stiftung myclimate, Switcher-partner seit 2008, ist eine internationale Klima-schutzorganisation mit Schweizer Wurzeln. myclimate fördert den Aufbau von Wissen zur CO2-Reduktion, sensibilisiert und motiviert zum langfristigen Klimaschutz.

Quantis, ein Spin-Off der EPFL Lausanne ist spezialisiert auf die Analysen und Bilanzierungen von Lebenszyklyen (Produkte, Unternehmungen). de coton un prix minimum fixe jamais inférieur

au prix du marché couvrant leurs frais de

production. A ce prix s’ajoute une prime

« Fair Trade » permettant l’amélioration

de leurs conditions de vie et de travail par

le financement de projets. Max Havelaar

est garant de la vérification de ces projets

communautaires.

Le Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)

est la principale norme mondiale de processus

textile pour les fibres organiques, comprenant

des critères écologiques et sociaux qui sont

soutenus par une certification indépendante de

la totalité de la chaîne d’approvisionnement.

Dans la culture biologique du coton, aucun

engrais chimique ni pesticide n’est employé.

Les semences génétiquement modifiées (OGM)

sont interdites. Le coton organique est planté

en alternance avec d’autres cultures afin d’éviter

l’apauvrissement des sols. Les paysans utilisent

uniquement du fumier et du compost afin de

préserver la fertilité du sol, voire de la renforcer.

Cet index donne le poids en kg des rejets de

dioxyde de carbone (CO2) et autres gaz à effet

de serre générés depuis les matières premières

jusqu’à la distribution dans les points de vente.

Par comparaison, 1 kg de CO2 équivaut, par

personne, à sept km dans une petite voiture ou

six km en avion de ligne.

Le Label myclimate neutral product garantit

que toutes les émissions de gaz à effet de serre

générées par ce produit ont été compensées

dans des projets de qualité soutenus par

myclimate. Les émissions sont calculées pour

tout le cycle de vie du produit.

Cet index représente l’impact de l’utilisation

et de la pollution de l’eau tout au long du cycle

de vie, de la production des matières premières

jusqu’aux points de vente. Cet impact considère

toutes les quantités d’eau consommées et

polluées tenant compte de leur disponibilité au

lieu d’utilisation.

Le label Recycled-PET signifie que la majeure

partie du polyester utilisé provient du recyclage

de bouteilles en PET. 15 bouteilles en PET (1.5 l)

sont nécessaires pour la confection d’une veste.

L’objectif du standard SA8000 est d’améliorer

les conditions de travail des ouvriers dans les

usines de production.

Ce logo sur un produit assure qu’au moins une

étape de production est certifiée SA8000.

L’Institut Hohenstein est un centre de recherche

et de services internationalement reconnu. Les

résultats d’analyses ainsi que les tests et certificats

répondent aux plus hautes exigences de l’industrie.

Ils servent de référence fiable aux fabricants et

acheteurs sur le marché international des vête-

ments professionnels. La ligne Industrial Wash de

Switcher est certifiée Hohenstein HQS 704.

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 est un système de

The Respect Code allows traceability of the product on the relevant Internet site from raw material to finished garment, transport and distribution by Switcher.

The Max Havelaar logo guarantees the payment of a stable and fair price to cotton farmers for their cotton never under the market price that allow them to cover their production costs. The fair trade premium is used to improve living and working conditions of their cooperative. Max Havelaar supervises and verifies these community projects.

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

The cultivation of organic cotton does entirely without synthetic fertilisers and pesticides. The use of genetically modified seeds is banned. Organic cotton is cultivated in rotation with other crops and is fertilised with manure and compost, which preserves and even increases the soil’s fertility.

This index shows the CO2 emission in kilograms (kg) throughout the manufacturing process (from raw material to the finished product) and transport from the production site to the Switcher main warehouse in Switzerland. 1 kg CO2 is roughly equivalent to seven km driven by car or six km flown in an aircraft.

The myclimate neutral label for products states that all emissions produced by this product have been offset in high quality carbon offset projects by myclimate. The emissions are calculated along the whole lifecycle of the product.

This index represents the impact of water use and pollution at every stage of the life cycle from raw material production through to the retail outlets. This impact takes account of all the quantities of water which are consumed and polluted, having regard to their availability at the place of use.

Switcher products with the recycled PET label are using “eco-care” polyester yarns obtained from recycled PET bottles. For the creation of one jacket, 15 empty PET bottles (1.5 l) are needed.

SA8000 is a certifiable standard for working conditions and workers rights in production and service companies. For products carring the label, at least on supplier in its supply chain has a SA8000 certification.

The Hohenstein Institute are an internationally recognized research and service center. The research results, tests and certificates satisfy the highest industry criteria. They are a reliable reference for manufacturers and buyers on the international textile market. Switcher’s Industrial Wash line is Hohenstein HQS 704 certified.

Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 is a standardized worldwide testing and certification system for textile products at all stages of processing. This label shows that the model complies to the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 criteria. European Chemicals Legislation. REACH is the Regulation for Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals which has been in force since June 2007. Since that date, all products which are sold on the European market must be produced in compliance with REACH. The REACH regulation aims to respond rapidly and at global level when harmful substances are detected.

Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is an international verification initiative that strives for fair working conditions in the garment industry worldwide. It cooperates closely with a growing number of companies that produce garments and other sewn products. FWF verifies effective implementation of the improvements made by its members. Thanks to the sharing of expertise, social dialogue and intensive industrial relationships, FWF increases the effectiveness of work carried out by companies. Switcher is member since 2006.

The purpose of the Switcher Foundation is to organize and support concrete projects to promote sustainable development in Switzerland and in other countries. It works primarily for the benefit of children, education and training.

WATER-REPELLENTThe material surface of a product is treated to obtain a water-repellent finish. This prevents wetness from penetrating into the material structure. After extended use, this water-repellent finish must be renewed by using ordinary commercial products.

WATERPROOF The garment has been made using waterproof outer materials. The substances used breathe actively as described under the heading ACTIVE BREATHING by means of a membrane or coating and are also waterproof. The waterproof characteristic is determined in millimetres. The higher this value the better. A good waterproof quality is obtained above 3000 mm.

WINDPROOFA hundred per cent windproof characteristic is obtained by using a membrane or material coating. High wind protection can also be achieved without a membrane, e.g. by a dense woven or knitted structure.

SEALED-SEAMTo ensure that a garment made from waterproof material is 100% waterproof, all seams are sealed with a waterproof seam binder.

EASYCAREEasycare finish of shirts which prevents severe creasing of the fabric during watching and so makes ironing easier and faster.

WASSERDICHTDas Bekleidungsprodukt wurde aus wasserdichten Aussenmaterialien hergestellt. Dabei werden Stoffe verwand, die wie unter ATMUNGSAKTIV beschrieben, durch eine Membrane oder Beschichtung nicht nur atmungsaktiv sondern auch wasserdicht sind. Die Wasserdichtigkeit wird in Millimeter bestimmt. Je höher der Wert desto besser. Eine gute Wasserdichtigkeit wird ab 3000 mm erreicht.

WINDDICHTHundertprozentige Winddichtigkeit wird durch die Verwendung einer Membrane oder Materialbeschichtung ereicht. Ein hoher Windschutz kann auch ohne Membrane erzeugt werden dies z.B durch eine dichte Web oder Strickkonstruktion.

NAHTVERSIEGELTUm ein Bekleidungsprodukt hergestellt aus wasserdichtem Material 100% wasserdicht zu konstruieren werden, alle Nähte mit einem wasserdichten Nahtband verschweisst.

Helvetas is one of the major Non- Governmental Organisations (NGO) in Switzerland. Their activity focuses on projects in developing countries. In Africa, Asia and Latin America, Helvetas aims to improve the living conditions of deprived people in rural regions. Switcher partner since 2002.

Social Accountability International (SAI) is a public interest organisation which develops, implements and supervises verifiable social standards on a voluntary basis. Switcher SA is signatory member and Robin Cornelius, is member of the SAI advisory board.

Swisscleantech’s strategy for Switzerland highlights how this can be achieved. This contribution consists in greater resource efficiency, less demand for natural space, fewer pollutant emissions, a reduction in other negative environmental influences and beneficial social changes. Switcher has been a member of Swisscleantech since 2010.

Swiss Olympic is the Association of all Sports Federations in Switzerland and also responsible for the Olympic movement. Since 2002 Switcher is the official textile supplier of the Swiss Olympic Team at least until the 2012 Olympics in London.

The Swiss Federation of Gymnastic (STV) is with 450’000 member the largest sports federation of Switzerland. Switcher is the official textile supplier since 2007.

Öbu is a Swiss corporate network seeking to promote the development of the Swiss economy in compliance with the principles of sustainability. Switcher is member since 2008.

The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI) is the worldwide association of brands, producers, dealers and associations active in the field of sports. Switcher is a member of the WFSGI CSR Committee.

FAST-DRYINGAs a result, moisture is transferred faster from the skin to the surface of the material where it dries; this makes the garment very pleasant to wear and prevents fast cooling down.

ACTIVE BREATHINGActive-breathing materials transfer humidity (water vapour) through their membranes or coating to the outside environment without water droplets/rain being able to penetrate inside the product via the membranes or coating.

Swisscleantech a élaboré la Stratégie Cleantech

Suisse, qui revendique des buts climatiques

contraignants et des conditions-cadre fiables

pour l’économie. Cette contribution se traduit

par une meilleure efficacité des ressources, une

diminution des besoins en surfaces naturelles,

une réduction des émissions polluantes, une

atténuation des autres effets négatifs sur

l’environnement ainsi que des changements

sociaux favorables. Switcher est membre de

Swisscleantech depuis 2010.

Swiss Olympic est l’Association faîtière

des fédérations sportives suisses, responsable

du mouvement olympique. Switcher est

fournisseur de l’Equipe Suisse depuis 2002.

Ce partenariat est reconduit au minimum

jusqu’aux Jeux de 2012 (Londres).

Avec plus de 450’000 membres, la Fédération

Suisse de Gymnastique (FSG) est la plus grande

fédération polysportive de Suisse. Switcher est

fournisseur de la FSG depuis 2007.

Öbu est un réseau suisse d’entreprises qui

s’est donné pour mission de promouvoir le

développement de l’économie suisse selon les

principes de la durabilité. Switcher est membre

depuis 2008.

La Fédération internationale des équipements

de l’industrie sportive (WFSGI) regroupe les

marques, les producteurs, les fournisseurs et les

associations actives dans le domaine du sport.

Switcher est membre du comité RSE WFSGI.

SECHAGE RAPIDE

L’humidité est ainsi transportée plus

rapidement de la peau à la surface de la matière

pour sécher, ce qui confère un sentiment de

confort et évite de se refroidir rapidement.

RESPIRATION ACTIVE

Le matériau à respiration active transporte

l’humidité (la vapeur d’eau) à l’extérieur

par sa membrane ou le revêtement sans que

les gouttes d’eau / la pluie puissent pénétrer

par la membrane ou le revêtement à l’intérieur

du produit.

PROPRIETES HYDROFUGES

La surface du produit a été transformée de sorte

à être hydrofuge. L’humidité ne peut donc pas

pénétrer dans la structure du matériau. En cas

d’usage prolongé, ce revêtement hydrofuge

doit être renouvelé en recourant à des produits

disponibles dans le commerce.

IMPERMEABLE

Le vêtement est fabriqué à partir de matériaux

imperméables. Les tissus utilisés, décrits sous

la rubrique RESPIRATION ACTIVE, offrent

non seulement une respiration active par

une membrane ou un revêtement mais sont

également imperméables. L’imperméabilité est

définie en millimètres. Plus la valeur est élevée,

mieux c’est. Une bonne imperméabilité est

atteinte dès 3000 mm.

ETANCHE AU VENT

L’utilisation d’une membrane ou d’un

revêtement offre une étanchéité au vent de

100%. Une protection élevée contre le vent

peut également être obtenue sans membrane,

par ex. par une construction tricotée ou un

tissage serré.

COUTURES SCELLEES

Pour construire un vêtement produit à partir

d’un matériau imperméable à 100%, toutes

les coutures sont soudées au moyen

d’une couture étanche.

ENTRETIEN FACILE

L’apprêt des chemises, le tricotage serré de

l’étoffe évitent qu’elle ne se froisse lors du

lavage et permet donc un repassage plus rapide

et plus aisé.
