Lifting agricultural output from Africa (and Australia) must also halt and reverse land degradation, be achieved with minimal new greenhouse gas emissions and successfully adapt to the challenge of climate change.

Australia and Africa share many common agricultural challenges: limiting soils, highly variable climates, many common pests and diseases and similar crops, pastures and animals in tropical/sub-tropical farming systems.
