The people who took my survey gave a variety of results for what sort of music they like. This is good as I wanted to base my music magazine on several varieties such as R&B, pop and rap. Although these aren’t necessarily the most popular categories, it will just make it more of a specialist magazine.
How much would you be willing to spend on a music
magazine?
£0-£119%
£2-£369%
£4-£56%
£6+6%
My survey results show that the average most of my target audience would spend on a music magazine is £2-£3, therefore I will price my magazine between this to get a larger audience.
How much do you spend on music a month, either physical
or downloaded?
£071%
£10-2029%
As most people don’t spend any money on music I could have free downloads as a freebie with the magazine.
How do you access new music?
The majority of my audience access new
music through the internet, therefore I could
promote my magazine on social networking
sites, such as facebook and twitter, also I
could have a link to my magazine website in
the magazine to expand the online fan base.
This may also get people to talk about my
magazine so others learn about it through
word of mouth. As well as this if I were
to use a free download to convince my target
audience to buy the magazine it is likely to
be a success as such a large number of
people access music over the internet.
Do you illegally download music?
As such a large number of my
target audience download music
illegally, my freebie of free downloads may prevent
people from doing this as much. I
could also do an article on where
to get cheap internet downloads,
which are legal, to try and stop
this.

How important are freebies in a music magazine to you?
reasonably50%
not very50%
Nobody said that the freebies in a magazine were very important however equal numbers said that they were reasonably and not very, but to be on the safe side and I will have a freebie with my magazine.
Do you normally buy weekly or monthly music magazines?
The majority of people preferred a
magazine that was weekly instead of
monthly. My magazine will be weekly as
then I can have the charts in my magazine
every week.

I will take into account when making my magazine the things the my target audience said they look for in a music magazine such as interviews, a mixture of bands and extras.
