1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Many health related courses require completion of specific placements in

practice, during which competencies need to be achieved.

The Trust is committed and keen to support practice placements from both local and out of area sources. These placements are available for people 17 years and over. The Trust will endeavour to provide suitable and practical placements whenever requested, however this may not always be possible due to existing contractual obligations.

1.2 The existing contractual obligations of Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne and

Wear NHS Foundation Trust (CNTWFT) will not be covered in this PGN. 1.4 At all times the safety and dignity of patients, staff and individuals on placement

will be maintained and appropriate steps taken to ensure all parties are aware of their roles and responsibilities with regards to placements.
