We are grateful that so many young people wish to give their time and skills to help organizationsaround the world that desperately need their help to do good work. Through our Fellowship Program,TFI sent five fellows into the field this year.

Doing Good: Compassion Education Curriculum

Our compassion education curriculum, Doing Good:Doing Good:Inspiring Activities and Ideas for Young PeopleInspiring Activities and Ideas for Young Peopleto Make the World a Better Placeto Make the World a Better Place is ahead ofschedule and will be available nationwide February2017 through Rowman & LittlefieldRowman & Littlefield publishers.

The text was co-written by Tom Nazario and KellyQuayle, who also tested the lessons in her middle-school classroom. A video of her students doing akindness project at their school, based on an activityfrom the book, is on our YouTube channelYouTube channel.

The curriculum introduces young people to a broaderunderstanding of global challenges, shows them comforts they enjoy by comparison to so many aroundthe world, and encourages them to think of ideas as to how they might put their own strengths andtalents into improving the world around them.

We are thankful to the editors at Rowman & LittlefieldRowman & Littlefield for seeing the value of educating the heartsas well as the minds of young people. We have been working with local artist and illustrator JohnJohnTorreanoTorreano to create new artwork for the project, and we look forward to having the curriculum beingused by teachers and students in classrooms and youth programs next year.

Our greater ambition with this curriculum is that the activities and discussion topics will inspire newways of thinking about the problems we all face in our global community. We hope to create andencourage the next generation of philanthropists to make the world a better place by doing good.

The curriculum is available for pre-order through Rowman & Littlefield. The curriculum is available for pre-order through Rowman & Littlefield.

Field visits provide invaluable information for us and help us create lasting bonds with an organization.TFI's Program Officer, Sarah Edwards,Sarah Edwards, visited programs we support in Lima, Peru in April. She spentseveral days with Nelly VillegasNelly Villegas, the founder and Director of Mama VictoriaMama Victoria and with MiguelMiguelRodriquez,Rodriquez, founder and Director of Sagrada FamiliaSagrada Familia.. Both organizations serve some of the mostvulnerable populations in Lima.

Nutritious Meals for 1,000 Kids

Colorful veggies, eggs, and chicken bringadded nutrients to the kids' diets.

Each day, 1,000 young people get a nutritioushot lunch at Sagrada Familia.

As part of our Giving Program,Giving Program, this fall we implemented a supplemental nutrition program atLa Sagrada FamiliaLa Sagrada Familia in Ventanilla, Peru, to help bring healthier meals to the over 1,000 kids whoreceive a hot lunch every day at this school and orphanage. For the day-school students, it may be theironly meal of the day.

We were inspired to start this project based on the information we learned from a consultant,Meghan Froenher,Meghan Froenher, who observed conditions at Sagrada Familia over the summer. As luck would haveit, two volunteers to the community from the East Coast, Anna Dominesey Anna Dominesey and Morgan Gregory,Morgan Gregory, brought funds donated by their friends and family with them to Sagrada Familia and wanted to seetheir donation used in a way that helps as many kids as possible. TFI agreed to match their gift to startthis project.

We are grateful to Carmen DavilaCarmen Davila who plans menus with the cook and does all the shopping. Wecan't believe one person does all the cooking, but she does! Of course we cannot do much without thehelp of our local guide, Monica Pfeiffer. Monica Pfeiffer. This has truly been a group effort, and we are thankful toeveryone who has been involved.

A little goes a long way. For $1,000 a month, TFI has been providing a nutritious hot meal toat least 1,000 kids each day and we will continue to do so!

Giving a "Hand Up" to Angels Care School

Pastor Godfrey and this group of young womentraveled to Kampala to learn new skills to

help their community.

The "Days for Girls" workshops teachparticipants to make reusable sanitarynapkins sell them as a micro-business.

Another project we funded this fall through our Giving ProgramGiving Program was the Angels Care SchoolAngels Care Schoolrefugee community in Uganda. They offer academic education to their students, but also supportseveral projects to generate income for the community. This fall they proposed a new venture to us, atraining offered in November by a US-based nonprofit, Days for Girls.Days for Girls.

They teach participants in their workshops to sew reusable sanitary pads for personal use as well as tosell as a micro-business. The fewer days girls miss from school, the more likely they will stay in schooland achieve success. Part of the workshop covers the importance of good hygiene and another partcovers good business practices. The training is comprehensive and participants are given a starter kit togo home with.

It would not have been possible for TFI to fund this project without the help of Ami RutledgeAmi Rutledge andher friends and family in Florida who raised money to cover half the group's expenses. Ami has traveledto Angels Care in the past as a volunteer and continues to support their efforts.

Together, we were able bring a new income-generating project to this community. We wish themmuch success! We plan to follow up with Angles Care to see how their business grows in 2017.
