Дорогі у Христі, До нас, парафіян храму св. Івана Хрестителя, звернувся наш владика -

редемпторист Степан Меньок з проханням допомогти побудувати храм Матері Божої Неустанної Помочі у Запоріжжі. Це буде перший храм Матері Божої Не-устанної Помочі на Великій Україні (Східній частині України).

З 2002 року владика Меньок служить екзархом Донецько – Харківським,

а останні кілька років Донецьким екзархом. У 2014 році з приходом бойовиків у Донецьк владика опинився на вигнанні. Сепаратисти забрали його будинок і все що в ньому було. Зараз владика проживає у Запоріжжі, винаймає кварти-ру яка служить за резиденцію та канцелярію. Владика Степан зосередив свою діяльність на розбудові якомога більше парафій на теренах свого екзархату у Запорізькій, Донецькій, Дніпропетровській та Луганській областях.

Владика просить нас допомогти збудувати церкву до якої тягнутимуться

люди м. Запоріжжя щоб почути чи не вперше Боже слово, де б вони навчили-ся молитися. При церкві буде функціонувати катихетичний центр (будинок вже збудували) в якому формуватиметься нове покоління українців – католи-ків.

Ми свідомі що Ви міцно підтримуєте благодійний фонд нашої парафії і

багато уділяєтеся для цього, однак дар Вашого серця може внести величезну зміну на долю багатьох незнайомих Вам людей далеко у Запоріжжі.

Тож з благословення нашого Митрополита Стефана ми розпочинаємо збір коштів на храм Матері Божої Неустанної Помочі у м. Запоріжжі.

Beloved in Christ, Our St. John’s parish received a letter from the Redemptorist Bishop Stephan Menyok asking us to help build a church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Zaprorizhia. This will be the first church to Our Lady of Perpetual Help in eastern Ukraine. Since 2002 Bishop Menyok became exarch for of Donetsk/Kharkiv, and for the last few years exarch of Donetsk. When in 2014 militants took over Donetsk the Bishop went into exile. The separatists took away his building and everything that he had inside. At present he lives in Zaporizhia and rents an apartment which serves as a residence and an office. Bishop Stephan is now focusing his energy on building as many parishes as he can on the territories of his exarchate in Za-porizhia, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Luhansk regions. Bishop Menyok has asked us to help him build a church which would be at-tended by the residents of Zaporizhia where they would hear the word of God per-haps for the first time and would learn to pray. A building has already been built next to the church which will serve as a catechetical center which will help develop a new generation of Ukrainian Catholics.

We are aware of the fact that you generously support our Charitable Pro-gram and work very hard in attaining your goals but this gift of a church could bring a huge change in the destiny of people in Zaporizhia, people whom you have never met.

And so with the blessing of our Metropolitan Stephan we are starting a col-

lection of funds for a church of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Zaporizhia.

Stay there until I tell you otherwise. Herod is searching for the child to destroy him.’’ Joseph got up and took the child and his mother and left that night for Egypt. He stayed there until the death of Herod, to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I have called my son.’’ Once Herod realized that he had been deceived by the wise men, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys two years old and under in Bethlehem and its environs, making his calculations on the basis of the date he had learned from the wise men. What was said through Jeremiah the prophet was then fulfilled: “A cry was heard at Ramah. sobbing and loud lamentations: Rachel bewailing her children; no comfort for her, since they are no more.’’ But after Herod’s death, the angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt with the command: “Get up, take the child and his mother, and set out for the land of Israel. Those who had designs on the life of the child are dead.’’ He got up, took the child and his mother, and returned to the land of Israel. He heard however, that Archelaus had succeeded his father Herod as king of Judea, and he was afraid to go back there. Instead, because of a warning received in a dream, Joseph went to the region of Galilee. There he settled in a town called Nazareth. In this was what was said through the prophet was fulfilled: “He shall be called a Nazorean.’’ Instead of “Indeed, it is fitting”: My soul, praise Christ the King* born in a cave.* Behold a strange and wonderful mystery:* the cave has become heaven,* the Virgin a throne of the

мене вже від утроби матері моєї і покликав своєю благодаттю, зволив об'явити в мені Сина свого, щоб я проповідував його між по-ганами, то я негайно, ні з ким не радившись, ані не подавшися в Єрусалим до тих, що бу-ли апостолами передо мною, пішов в Арабію, а потім знову повернувся в Дамаск. Тоді справдилось те, що сказав був пророк Єремія: “В Рамі чути голос, плач і тяжке ридання: то Рахиль плаче за дітьми своїми й не хоче, щоб її втішити, бо їх немає.” Якже вмер Ірод, ангел Господній з'явився вві сні Йосифові в Єгипті і каже: “Встань, візьми дитятко та його матір і по-вернись в Ізраїльську землю, бо вмерли ті, що чигали на життя дитятка.” Устав він, узяв дитятко та його матір і прийшов в Ізраїльсь-ку землю, але, почувши, що в Юдеї царює Архелай замість Ірода, батька свого, побояв-ся іти туди. Попереджений же вві сні, він пішов у галилейські сторони і, прибувши ту-ди, оселився в місті, що зветься Назарет, щоб збулося сказане пророками, що Назорей назветься. Замість “Достойно”: Величай, душе моя, у вертепі народженого царя – Христа. Таїнство чудне бачу і преславне: небо – вертеп, пре-стол херувимський – Діву, ясла – вмістили-ще, в яких возліг невмістимий Христос Бог.

КІЛЬКА СЛІВ ВІД НАШОЇ

БЛАГОДІЙНОЇ АКЦІЇ Ми отримали листа від сестри Єлисавети Проць, в якому вона пише… «Важко хвора пані Анна Куш-нір (76 р.) походить із села Чижиків біля Львова. Вона є вдовою, її чоловік помер ду-же давно, коли її синові Оле-гові було лише 5 років. Життя

пані Анни, як вдови, було дуже важке. Вона переїхала до Львова і ціле життя працювала двірничкою, прибиральницею. 7 років тому п. Анна важко захворіла на дуже рідкісну хворобу шкіри, і терпить бо її шкіра дуже болить і свербить. Вона отримує дуже малу пенсію і ліків не має за що купити. Знедавна пані Анна почала втрачати пам’ять. Син пані Анни – Олег, живе окремо і має велику свою родину – 7 діточок. Він і його дружина, відві-дують маму, стараються її допомагати і підт-римувати але їм також не вистачає на про-житок. Пані Анна є лежача, не встає з ліжка і потребує памперсів, а купити нема за що. Ми, сестри Служебниці відвідуємо її але не можемо її матеріяльно допомогти отже здебільшого приходимно з молитвою і доб-рим словом. Завдяки Добродіям - «Ангелам Милосерля» ми зможемо придбати для п. Анни памперсів на пів року та необхідні ліки. Дякую всім вам і запевняю, що будемо моли-тися за вас. Не знаю, чи ви, добродії, ро-зумієте, як багато доброти ви приносите ба-

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR

CHARITABLE PROGRAM We received a letter from Sister Elizabeth Prots in which she wrote.. 76 year old Anna Kushnir comes from the village of Chyzhykyv, not far from Lviv. Her husband died many years ago when her son Oleh was only 5 years old. Her life as a widow was a very difficult one. She moved to Lviv and all of her adult life worked as a street cleaner and a janitor. Seven years ago she developed a ra-re skin disease which brings her much pain and discomfort. She receives a very small pension and cannot afford to buy much need-ed medication. Not too long ago she has also started to lose her memory. Anna’s son lives nearby and he and his wife visit often but they have 7 children and barely manage to survive themselves. Anna is confined to her bed and needs pampers but cannot afford them. We, the Sister Servants, visit her but we cannot afford to help her financially so we come with prayers and a kind word but this is not enough. Thanks to your Angels of Mercy we will be able to buy Anna a half year supply of pampers and medication that she desper-ately needs. I thank you and assure you that we will pray for all of you. I wonder if you are aware of what a great kindness you are

to get married this coming year. Please note that we hold Pre Cana courses only

once a year and this year it will be on the weekend of March 10th & 11th.

Pre Cana is a prerequisite for all those who want to have their wedding here at St. John’s Church.

У нашій церкві охрестили Романа Івана Диллан сина Наталки (Раковської) та Джона Диллан. Молимо ласкавого Госпо-да, щоб тримав маленького Романа під Своєю особливою опікою, щоб він ріс на потіху своїм батькам та своїй громаді.

Roman John Dillon, son of Natalie (Rakowsky) and John Dillon was baptized in our church. We pray to our merciful Lord that He keep little Roman under His special care so that he live to be of pride and joy to his parents and to his community.

У Новому Році Допоможи мені, о Господи, щоб мої очі були милосерд-ні, щоб я ніколи не підозрював і не судив за зовнішніми ознаками, але вбачав те, що гарне в душах ближ-ніх, і приходив їм на допомогу; щоб

мій слух був милосердний, щоб я схилявся до потреб ближніх, щоб мої вуха не були байду-жими на болі і стогін ближніх; щоб мій язик був милосердний, щоб я ніколи не говорив зневажливо про ближніх, а для кожного мав слово потіхи і прощення; щоб мої руки були милосердні і сповнені добрих вчинків; щоб мої ноги були милосердні, щоб я завжди пос-пішав із допомогою ближнім, опановуючи свою власну втому; щоб моє серце було ми-лосердне, щоб я співпереживав у всіх страж-даннях ближніх. Господи, прошу допоможи, щоб цей рік був кращий за всіх!

Lord, please help that in this New Year my eyes be merciful so that I never suspect or judge anyone by outward appearance but that I see that which is beautiful in the souls of others and always be of service to them; that my ears be merciful so that I can lean towards the needs of my fellow men; that my ears not be oblivious to the pain and groan-ing of people in my life; that my tongue be merciful and never speak disrespectfully about my neighbors and always have a word of com-fort and forgiveness for everyone; that my hands be merciful and full of good deeds; that my legs be merciful so that I, disregarding my own fatigue always hasten to help my neigh-bors; that my heart be merciful so that I can be sympathetic toward the sufferings of others. Lord, please help to make this year the best of all!
