Fellowship Dinner Wednesday April 11, 2018 “The History of Port Dover Yacht Club”

Join us for dinner and a delightful journey through the colourful history of one of Erie Yacht Club’s favorite partner clubs. PDYC has been a popular, long-time destination for EYC members since 1942 and continues to serve as a gateway for dozens of
wonderful Port Dover and Long Point attractions.
The Ontario club, just across the lake, enjoys a rich history with Port Dover that includes sailboat racing as well as a popular power boat destination for EYC club members. Its history features a unique cast of characters that includes the Kolbe
family, the Gambles, Jack Maytham, Harry Barrett, Buck Wamsley and many others.
Past Commodore, Terry Walsh will present an illustrated history that will include the genesis of the club, images of the clubhouse and basin over the past 75 years, and stories of some of the “characters” who helped create the club. He will also discuss the evolution of modern Port Dover, which includes physical changes at Port Dover, shifts in the fishing industry, and the evolution of club vistas, including creek-side scenes such as the old Kolbe home, the Gamble property west of
PDYC, the rusty old ships in the creek and the former Misner Fish Plant on the front dock.

Five Course Menu:
1st Course: Beef Carpaccio Thinly sliced filet mignon garnished with
peppers, shallots and capers, dressed with citrus tarragon vinaigrette and served with garlic crostini.
2nd Course: Ravioli Duck confit and gorgonzola raviolis with blood orange,
ginger, and basil sauce, garnished with arugula.
3rd Course: Cobia Fish Jerk seasoned Cobia fillet with pineapple chutney,
rum seafood broth, and Swiss chard.
Intermezzo: Watermelon Mango Sorbet
4th Course: Veal Smoked veal loin with spiced cherry balsamic thyme sauce
on a bed of brown butter bacon sweet potato risotto.
5th Course: Dessert Oatmeal stout ice cream, cinnamon strudel biscuit,
flamed peaches.

Online Payment by Credit Card
To use Plastiq, you must first register. Go to the Clubs web site and click “Pay Your Monthly Bill Online”. This will open a set of instructions that will allow you to set up your online credit card payment account with Plastiq. Once registered Plastiq will send you a confirmation email allowing you to create your very own account. Note: Plastiq charges a small service fee to the cardholder so that you can enjoy the convenience of using your credit card and paying online. The fee is 2.5% for credit cards and 1% for debit cards. Plastiq has an option of next day payment. DO NOT select that option as it will charge you an additional Next Day fee of $20.00.
