Finally arriving in North America over three years after its initial Japaneserelease, Summon Night: Swordcraft Story is actually the third game of eightset in the Summon Night world, with its sequel, Summon Night: Swordcraft Story2 due to be released on October the 17th. With a battle system akin to that ofthe "Tales of" games, added to the weapon forging and dating-sim portions ofthe game, SN:SS brings genre-crossing gameplay that's simply quite fun.

Listen up you mangy lot, this bit is important. You are free to use this FAQfor personal reference but if you plagirize any sections, well... I'll have tocome up with something evil to do to you...

The only place allowed to host this FAQ is:

GameFAQs - http://www.gamefaqs.com

If you see it anywhere else, please contact me at: [email protected]

You can also contact me with any questions that pertain to Summon Night:Swordcraft Story that AREN'T answered in this FAQ, or any corrections tomistakes I've made (this does not include typographical errors; I'm not THATanal retentive about my work).

Also, do not bother to email me and ask whether you can host this FAQ on yoursite, the answer is no. GameFAQs is the only place I particularly feel liketrusting, while sites that have to go soliciting for FAQs strike me asdesperate to get a reputation even a tenth of that GameFAQs has. So don'tbother, I won't even reply to your emails.

v1.10 - Added a note to Day 02: Forging Ahead, and updated the Copyright. [09/01/09]

v1.05 - Just a change to my email address.

v1.00 - Finally got the Magic section complete. Big thanks to RDS1 and Rachel LeBronx who helped me with the missing names!

v0.95 - Basically, everything but the Magic section is complete. This'll be the first version actually released.

Page 3: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

v0.90 - I finished off the Items section at long last (It's actually been months since the last update!)

v0.85 - Pretty much completed the monster locations in the Bestiary, probably as good as I'm going to get it. Still far more incomplete than I'm happy with.

v0.80 - Most of this FAQ is done, I just need to flesh out a few of the sections a bit more.

/ =============================== \ < [05] Characters > \ =============================== /

This section is SPOILERIFFIC! You have been warned!

<---[05a] Contestants------------------------------------------->

Cleru/Pratty: The main character of the game, Cleru/Pratty is the child of the deceased Craftlord of Iron, Shinsetsu. Their dream is to take up their father's position and have entered the tournament as such. However their father's death is still shrouded in mystery...

Sanary: A fellow apprentice in the Silver Guild, Sanary is the younger sister of Master Kouren, the Craftlord of Ruby. She used to look up to her sister, but after witnessing her change following Shintetsu's death, she feels let

Page 5: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

down. Now she seeks to become a Craftlord and become the person she thought her sister was.

Varil: The son of Libody, the Gold Guild's head, he is even more arrogant than Chaves. However, in meeting Cleru/Pratty, he comes to question the values in the way he lives as a Craftknight.

Razzy: Bron's niece, Razzy dresses as a boy because she believes she needs to act masculine to be a good Craftknight.

Chaves: An arrogant member of the Gold Guild, his ego is as large as he is, but really, he's pretty incompetent.

Kenon: Another Gold Guild member, Kenon is actually a pretty alright person. When asked why he's in the Gold Guild, he says that he has his reasons, but refuses to divulge what they are.

Ariel and Mariel: The beautiful twins of the Silver Guild, they work together so well that they don't need a Guardian Beast to help them forge, or in battle!

<---[05b] Craftlords-------------------------------------------->

Sakuro, Craftlord of Sapphire: Sakuro was once apprentice to Shintetsu, and takes a keen interest in Cleru/Pratty. He's rather eccentric at times, but his heart is in the right place. He wants to go and travel the world, gaining even more experience, just like Shintetsu had done so before him.

Lubert, Craftlord of Amber: Using his role as a Craftlord as cover, Lubert is seeking the legendary swords forged by Shintetsu to try and control Parista. Mercenary to the core, he has struck up a bargain with the warfaring nation of Deigleya, offering them a portion of Parista, to see if they could control it for military applications. He also instigated the sale of Craftknight weapons to the Deigleyans.

Ureksa, Craftlord of Jade: Rumari's brother, he took her position as a Craftlord when she retired. He holds a great bitterness within himself, aimed towards Parista, the Holy Spirit that caused his sister's illness. He works alongside Lubert, biding his time before he strikes.

Rondeau, Craftlord of Diamond: The only person living in Upper Wystern, Rondeau is renowned as the

Page 6: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

greatest of the Craftlords. He's normally a calm, considerate person, but lets his temper slip every now and then. Kouren is usually around at the right moments though to calm him down.

Rumari, Former Craftlord of Jade: Three years ago, Rumari started a terrible chain of events. After drawing too close to the imprisoned Parista, the renowned spearswoman accidentally awoke him, drawing his wrath. She was blighted with an incurable heat disease, leaving her in a permanent fever. She retired to the cold town of Vance along with her brother Ureksa, in a bid to control her illness somewhat.

Tyram, Craftlord of Crystal: Rumari's lover, Tyram disappeared whilst researching information about Kuhrya, the Holy Spirit of Ice, and Parista's opposite, in a bid to cure Rumari of her condition. No one has seen or heard from him since.

Kouren, Craftlord of Ruby: Sanary's older sister, she was in love with Shintetsu. She tends to talk like a drunkard walks, never really saying what she means. She cares a lot about Sanary, but finds it hard to express herself clearly.

Shintetsu, Former Craftlord of Iron: Not much is really known about him, except that he is called a hero by the other Craftlords.

Three years ago, after Rumari accidentally awoke Parista, Shintetsu forged three swords in an effort to seal Parista once again. However, he realised it was not enough, and with the aid of Kuhrya, the Holy Spirit of Ice, he forged a fourth sword, the Southern Sword, and poured his very soul into it, taking his own life. He believed that his child would grow to become an even more powerful Craftlord than he, and would use the four swords to finally set Parista free and send it back to Sapureth. Where the four swords ended up, nobody knows.

<---[05c] Others------------------------------------------------>

Amariss: Cleru/Pratty's mother, she has had to raise her child alone the last three years since her husband Shintetsu's death. She's a very calm person, though often makes little jokes. She doesn't seem to love Bron back, though she's happy enough to use his infatuation to manipulate him into helping out whenever he's needed.

Page 7: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Bron: The owner of the Silver Guild, Bron was once offered a position as Craftlord, but chose to set up the guild instead. He has a fierce rivalry with Libody, the Gold Guild's owner, and is hopelessly in love with Amariss, Cleru/Pratty's mother.

Nigelle: Serving as an aide to Libody, Nigelle isn't actually a Craftknight, though his skills with a sword are well-reknowned.

Libody: The owner of the Gold Guild, he often argues with Bron whenever they're forced to spend time together. Many people believe him to be corrupt, but truthfully, he performs a very special and vital service for the Craftlords and the city of Wystern.

<---[05d] Spirits----------------------------------------------->

Parista, the Holy Spirit of Swords/Fire: Parista was summoned from Sapureth long ago to help the people of Lynbaum during a war. However, after the war ended, he was kept in captivity, sealed deep underneath Wystern, the Labyrinth being built as a prison to hold him.

Kutty, Wind Spirit: An animal-type Guardian Beast, Kutty is a cute and playful spirit, though it doesn't really seem to get on too well with humans other than its master. It doesn't seem to be able to talk, repeatedly crying out its name "Kutty!" instead. [Forges Axe and Knuckle types]

Rasho, Fire Spirit: Surly and irrascible, the demonic-looking Rasho loves nothing more than a good fight, whether verbal or physical. As much as he may pretend to be nasty, underneath he really does care. [Forges Axe and Drill types]

Sugar, Water Spirit: A high-spirited being, Sugar arrives professing love for Cleru/Pratty, claiming she was promised betrothal to Shintetsu's child. She gets jealous very easily, and doesn't get on very well with Amariss. [Forges Spear and Knuckle types]

Zantek, Lightning Spirit: A robot-type Guardian Beast, Zantek can't speak in a human language, though its master seems to be able to understand it perfectly. [Forges Spear and Drill types]

Kuhrya, the Holy Spirit of Ice;

Page 8: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Kuhrya is the polar opposite of Parista. He seeks to help the Craftlords restore Parista to Sapureth, but is forced to remain guarding the fourth of Shintetsu's swords deep within the Labyrinth. [Forges all weapon types]

An integral part of the game, forging increasingly stronger weapons is

Page 9: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

necessary to be able to progress ever further into the Labyrinth in your questto become a Craftlord.

To be able to forge, one must gather materials, learn techniques and worktogether with their Guardian Beast to create a weapon.

Materials: There are four elements, Fire, Water, Wind and Lightning, of which all items are created from. By breaking down items, you can gather the elements necessary to create specific weapons.

There are also what's known as Mystic Ores; special stones won from enemies that allow normal weapons to be imbued with elemental properties.

Techniques: Each weapon requires a specific technique to forge it; without a technique, a Craftknight is unable to forge anything. There are three different ways to learn a technique: to be taught it by someone, i.e. your master, Bron; to shatter an opponents weapon in battle; and to discover it within the Labyrinth.

Guardian Beasts: After establishing your contract with a Guardian Beast, you have a partner with whom you can forge. However, certain Guardian Beasts specialise in certain types of weapons, and do not need to be taught how to forge elemental techniques of that weapon type.

The Forging Process: 01) Walk up to the forge and press A to bring up the Forge Menu.

02) First, we need materials from which to make our weapons, so select Create Materials.

03) We can either break down Weapons or Items we have in our inventory; for now let's choose Items.

04) Select the item you want to smelt down into its constituent elements. For example, say we select Iron Ore; we'll get 5 Fire, 5 Water and 5 Wind.

05) Go back to the original Forge Menu, and this time select Create Weapons.

06) You can choose to forge either Sword, Axe, Spear, Knuckle or Drill Type weapons; for now, let's select Sword Type, to bring up the Sword Techniques screen.

07) We can see all the different Sword Techniques we have gained, though not all those gained may yet be learned. Those that say "New Technique" have

Page 10: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

yet to be forged, and those with names but are greyed out are ones you do not have the necessary materials for.

08) Let's start by selecting the first technique on the screen, which is the first one your master, Bron, will teach you, the Novice Knife!

09) Now that we have learnt the Novice Knife technique, let us try forging an elemental weapon. Return to the Sword Techniques screen, and select the Novice Knife technique again.

10) Providing we have the necessary materials, including two Mystic Ores, a small window will pop up, asking whether we want to use Mystic Ores in forging the weapon. Select Yes and you'll both forge a Fire Dagger, and learn the Fire Dagger technique.

It is useful to note that when you smelt down a weapon, you receive only aportion of the elements back, but you do get all Mystic Ores used in return,which is very useful, since later weapons require up to 61 Mystic Ores toforge.

<---[08a] Tips and Tricks--------------------------------------->

Guardian Beasts: Pick your Guardian Beast carefully. Each one has an elemental speciality, but they also specialise in different status spells, being able to cast far larger numbers of the spell than others. Sugar, for instance has a high number of Healing Spells, a medium number of Quick Moves, but not many Weapon Shield or Astral Guards. Depending upon your playing style, pick the Guardian Beast that suits you best.

Stats: It's useful to note how the three character stats actually work. Strength raises how much damage you do with each attack, Defence decreases the amount of damage you take when hit and increases your HP, whilst Agility increases your movement speed and how far/high you can jump. Whilst you often get Strength and Defence increases from levelling, you get far less Agility points, so if you want to become a lot faster, you need to pump up the Agility stat yourself.

Weapons:

Page 11: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

This really goes hand-in-hand with the previous two. Deciding what weapon types you want to specialise in can affect your entire outlook on how to play the game. Say for instance you want to use Knuckles for the most part; raising your agility and picking a Guardian Beast who can forge elemental Knuckles are the way to go. If you want to use Axes though, Strength and Defence become good choices, since you'll be limited to less attacks and are more likely to be hit.

Crossover Attacks: Probably the most useful technique you'll use in the game. Most enemies attacks don't go very high, so once your Agi stat reaches a certain point, it's very easy to just jump over them. Equip a strong weapon like an axe, and jump over the enemy, attacking whilst you're in the air. If you time it right, you can even get a rear attack bonus. The genius of this tactic is that the enemy has to turn around to attack you, by which time, you're sailing over its head again to deal another attack. It makes it very easy to take out enemies without being hit a single time.

Juggling Enemies: This is a nifty little trick, that's very handy for quickly raising the TEC stats of your Axe and Knuckle weapons. Find yourself a Spell Sword or Evil Sword enemy, and pin it in a corner. Repeatedly do the uppercut move to flick it up into the air, never letting it settle on the ground. What'll happen is even after the enemy has lost all of its HP, it doesn't die. Therefore, you can easily rack up the number of hits you deliver, thus largely increasing your TEC stat on that particular weapon. This is far easier to do with Knuckles, but it is possible to use for some of the faster Axes.

<---[08b] Day 01: The Summoning--------------------------------->

First, pick your character: Cleru (Boy) or Pratty (Girl).

We start in your room, a voice telling you to wake up which you try your bestto ignore, until there's a scream. Go to the cupboard to the right and checkit to get the Entrance Ticket. Go downstairs and you'll talk to your mother;name your character, and then Amariss will give you the Father's Charm item.

Check the item in the bottom-right corner to get the Water Scooter and thenleave the house, following the path along until the brief cut-scene. Head up

Page 12: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

the archway and into the castle; go up the stairs and then enter the northerndoor. Inside, talk to all four people around you and then the opening ceremonybegins. Once all the blabbering's done, leave the castle and head to theSilver Guild (The building we saw Bron enter). Go into the left hall and Bronwill talk to you; follow him into his office to the right. He'll introduce youto a summoner, who'll ask you some questions:

Q1. What do you think of Shintetsu? A01. I want to be more like him. (Q2) A02. I want to know more about him. (Q3)

Q2. What is most important to a Craftknight? A03. The ability to forge weapons. (Q4) A04. Consideration for living things. (Q5)

Q3. Yer mother was the best teacher ya could've had. She taught ya how to survive an' how to thrive. A05. She's a bit over protective. (Q6) A06. She looks after me all the time. (Q7)

Q4. During the tournament, into what will you place more trust? The weapon that you have forged or the skill that you possess? A07. My weapon. [Zantek] A08. My skill! [Rasho]

Q5. What does love mean to you? A09. Caring deeply about someone. [Sugar] A10. Protecting someone from harm. [Kutty]

Q6. Did you grow up preferring the strictness of Shintetsu, or the kindness of Amariss? A11. Shintetsu's strictness. [Rasho] A12. Amariss's kindness. [Sugar]

Q7. Would you rather have a stuffed animal or a robot? A13. A robot. [Zantek] A14. A stuffed animal. [Kutty]

NOTE: If this isn't clear enough, check the Guardian Beast Selection Chart, also by me, in the Maps and Charts section for this game.

Once you've answered all the questions, the summoner will use your Father'sCharm to bring forth the Guardian Beast your answers selected. You'll also getthe Summonite item. Once you're done talking to your Guardian Beast, headupstairs and talk to Bron once more. There'll be a cut-scene where you andyour Guardian Beast talk on a boat at night.

<---[08c] Day 02: Forging Ahead--------------------------------->

The next day, try to leave the room and Bron will enter, followed by anofficial, who'll give you the Labyrinth Key 1. Bron will give you your firstsword technique, and then give you 300 boam, telling you to go and buy someIron Ore

Page 13: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

First though, go into the North-East-most house on the West side of town, andtalk to the old man there. He'll say that he's looking for a cat. Leave thehouse and leave the town screen via the top-left corner; this will take you tothe Harbour. Talk to the boy there and he'll say that he's looking for someoneto take in his cat. Return to the old man and tell him about the boy, andhe'll give you a new technique.

Now we're done with that, let's head to the shop; it has a sign with two bagson it. Talk to the shop owner and he'll tell you that he's just sold out tothe red-headed girl to your right. She's pretty rude to you and refuses tohelp, so head back to the Silver Guild.

Talk to Bron in his office, and he guesses that the girl was Sanary, a fellowSilver Guild apprentice. With no materials to forge a weapon and not allowedto borrow one, Bron insists you enter the Labyrinth with only your hammer.Head to the castle, and head straight up; you can talk to the man in greenhere about combat if you want. Otherwise, talk to the man in the top-leftcorner, who'll let you into the Labyrinth.

Inside, head downwards and you'll run into Sanary again, she'll ask you a fewquestions:

Q1. A female Craftknight is greater than a male one. True or false? A1. It doesn't make a difference. [Nothing] A2. True! (Q2)

Q2. A female Craftknight looks cooler than a male one! True or false? A3. They're both the same. [Nothing] A4. A female one looks cooler! (Q3)

Q3. I, Sanary, will be the one to win the tournament. True or false? A5. I'm the one who will be victorious! [Matchbox if Pratty, else Nothing] A6. The victory... may go to Sanary... [Matchbox if Cleru, else Nothing]

I recommend trying to get the Matchbox item; it may seem like you've beenjipped, but we'll be using that in just a moment!

Open the chest to the right to get a bandage, and then follow the path alonguntil you run into Sanary again, where she's actually quite nice! Open thechest to the right to get the Iron Ore. You can't progress past the firstlevel, so let's head back to your room at the Silver Guild. Now we'll forgeour first items!

Once you're done, exit the menu and first Bron, then Sanary, and finally amessenger all visit your room, the latter giving you the Match Notice 1. Bronwill give you a choice for your next technique; Axe, Spear, Knuckle or Drill;pick whichever you prefer, though I strongly recommend you pick the Drill.

Page 14: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

If you want, you can go and fight Chaves now, but there's a fair few things wecan do before then. First, leave the Silver Guild and go into the water onyour Water Scooter; head to the South-West corner and into the house there.

Talk to the man and he'll say that he needs a Matchbox; give him the one Sanarygave you, and he'll give you a new technique. Next, head to the Castle and goback to the Labyrinth. Go down to the second level. Make sure to get both IronOre's on this level and then head down to the third level. Make your wayaround the level until you reach the man; he'll tell you that you can'tprogress yet, so hit the Teleporter to his left and warp back to the firstlevel.

Return to the Silver Guild and convert your items to materials, makingwhatever weapons you don't yet have. When you run out of techniques, talk toBron and he'll offer you a new one, until you've gotten one of each from him.Remember to rest in the bed in your room to heal your HP and MP!

Also, the barrels and crates in the Labyrinth automatically regenerate onceyou leave, so what I do is warp to B3F, smash the ones there and on B2F andthen warp back to B1F, leave, and then repeat. I'll admit that Matchbox's arehard to get on just the first three levels, so you may not be able to makesome of the weapons.

Once you've had enough, heal up back at the Silver Guild and then go to thefirst floor of the castle. Equip only one weapon, preferably the Novice Drill,and then talk to the man in the top-left corner, who'll let you in to yourfirst tournament fight!

Fairly easy, pin him into the corner and let loose with the Novice Drill.

Win: 600 Exp 300 boam Chaves's Sword Technique[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

With him out of the way, you'll end up back in your room at the Silver Guild.After a brief chat with Bron, you decide to go for a walk; you're given thechoice of going with your Guardian Beast (to the boat) or with Sanary(Labyrinth B1F). These walks happen at the end of each day, and help buildyour relationship stats towards the other characters in the game.

<---[08d] Day 03: A Weapon's Worth------------------------------>

Bron asks you to sail with him to the town of Vance, and goes ahead to theHarbour. However, we've got other things to do first.

Leave the Silver Guild and go into the house just North-West of it (in the

Page 15: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

water). Talk to the man and ask a question, and he'll give you a new elementaltechnique. Head through the arches towards the castle, but go left between thethird and fourth one; talk to the old man here and let him talk to you aboutMystic Ore; he'll give you three of 'em!

Return to the Labyrinth and you can now go down to B4F and beyond. On B4F,make sure to get the Portable Canteen item in the bottom-left corner. On B6F,get both Bandages and activate the Teleporter. On B7F, get the PortableCanteen. On B8F, get the five Martial Ores, two Small Tinders, Coffee Mug,Small Faucet and Bandage. This is as far as you can go, so head back to B6Fand teleport out.

Go back to the Silver Guild and convert your items to materials, making anyweapons you've yet to get.

Once you've done that, head to the Harbour, and you'll find Bron by the boatyou went to the first night with your Guardian Beast. At Vance Cape, Bron willgive you the Guild Delivery, but doesn't tell you where the Weapons Shop is.Not that it's difficult to find.

Head North into town and go into the building with a sword sign on it. Aftermaking the delivery, the ShopKeeper comments that there's been rumours of badweapons being sold from Wystern. Once the trade is done, Bron asks if you wantto stay or explore a bit more; pick the latter and he'll wait for you by theboat. Leave the Weapons Shop and head left to the Items Shop. I recommendgetting the Mineral Ring; once you've done that, head to the boat and sailback to Wystern. Once you arrive, Bron will give you the Iron Saber technique.

Try to leave the harbour and you'll be approached by Nigelle, a representativeof the Gold Guild. He offers you 5,000 boam for ten Iron Sabers; agree to sellthem to him and then head to the Silver Guild. Make the ten Iron Sabers andthen head to the Labyrinth B4F; go to the room with the Heal Panel and you'llfind Sanary there She'll tell you that she was offered the same deal; answerher question however you will, and she'll storm off. Your Guardian Beast willtell you to make up your mind so tell it that you will sell the Iron Sabers.

Leave the Labyrinth and head to the Harbour, where you'll find Nigellewaiting. Give him the Iron Sabers and take the money. Head back to your roomin the Silver Guild (after being stopped by the blonde-haired boy from theOpening Ceremony) and you'll find the Match Notice 2. Head to the castle for

Page 16: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

the next round, but you'll be stopped by Sanary, who tells you that the GoldGuild has basically tricked you. Say that you'll get the swords back andfollow Sanary to the Harbour. Once there, an argument erupts and you'll end upin a fight with...

[%%%]Boss: Varil [08d.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: 230 | Dur: 75

Again, with the drill, pin him in the corner and let loose with a flurry ofattacks.

Win: 1120 Exp 350 boam Varil's Spear technique[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

You'll get the ten Iron Sabers back, but before you go to your next match,return to the Silver Guild. Turn nine of the Iron Sabers into materials, andthen forge Varil's Spear, but do not equip it. Go to Middle Wystern, thesecond level, which can be accessed by going upstairs in the castle and thenleaving by the south. Go to the South-East-most hosue and give the Craftknightthere Varil's Spear, and he'll give you a new elemental technique.

Before we go off to fight the next round of the tournament, I suggest forgingthe Aqua Screw and maxing out its TEC stat.

[%%%]2nd Round: Kenon [08d.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: 300 | Dur: 90

Another simple fight; corner then drill.

Win: 1620 Exp 450 boam Kenon's Axe technique[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

After the fight, Sanary congratulates you and Varil then declares that you'rehis rival. The day ends and Varil is added onto the list of people you canspend an evening walk with.

<---[08e] Day 04: A Friend in Need------------------------------>

You start the day with Bron wailing about a missing niece, Razzy. She'sdisappeared somewhere in the Labyrinth. He gives you the Sharp Daggertechnique to help you out.

Make Kenon's Axe but don't equip it, and then head up to Middle Wystern. Inthe house just South-West of the Gold Guild, talk to the Craftknight there and

Page 17: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

buy an elemental technique for 1,000 boam. South-East from there is anotherhouse; talk to the man in there and give him Kenon's Axe, and you'll getanother elemental technique in return Go East from there and enter the firsthouse you come across; talk to the old man and he says his son will teach youa new technique once he returns. Go behind the closed Item Shop and talk tothe man by a boat; he'll give you an Iron Ore.

Head for the Labyrinth next; we can continue past B8F now so do so. On B9F,make sure to get the Kicker Potion and then continue on down to B11F. Near theexit here, you should find a big hole from which you can hear a voice. Ignoreit for the moment and activate the Teleporter just above it.

Drop down into the hole and you'll find... someone who isn't Razzy. Oh well.The "mysterious woman" rants about the sword in front of her and its maker.After asking her about the voice, she says it came from the crack behind you,so go and whack at it with your hammer; seven hits will do the job, sendingyou plunging down... to your doom! Or not, as the case may be.

You come to with the help of Razzy and your Guardian Beast. Apparently youcan't climb back out of the hole you fell through. Rest in the bed if you needto, and then head southwards. Talk to Razzy and she'll volunteer you to fightthe large Stray Summon blocking the doorway.

[%%%]Boss: Yasha Spider [08e.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: ???

Another simple fight, and no need to break a weapon either! It only has threeattacks: a short-range fireball you can outrun, an overhead slice that you canhop backwards from, and a chomp from its backside, which is easy to avoid.

Win: 3,200 Exp 550 boam Eerie Mask[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Follow Razzy through the door, grab the Kicker Potion and then talk to heragain. After a long discussion, Sanary calls out to you; leave the room andclimb the ladder she's dropped down. She'll give you the Match Notice 3 andthen drags Razzy away, who it turns out is your next opponent! After healingup at the Silver Guild, prepare for battle!

[%%%]3rd Round: Razzy [08e.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: 500 | Dur: 72

This one is by far the toughest fight you've had. Razzy has very high Agility,

Page 18: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

so she's constantly zipping around the screen, unleashing devestating Knucklescombo's on you. The best tactic for this fight is to run underneath her jumpsand turn around quickly, throwing the drill at her back.

Win: 1820 Exp 650 boam Razzy's Knuckles technique[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Razzy seems pretty down, so head up to the third floor of the castle and walkthrough the hidden door on the right side of the wall. You need to make yourway to the top-left corner of the screen without being seen by any of theguards here. Razzy is hiding amongst the flowers there; after talking withher, she's added to the list of people you can spend your evening walks with.

<---[08f] Day 05: Do it... with loooooove!---------------------->

You start the day receiving the Match Notice 4, and you're drawn against Arieland Mariel, who promptly show up and be mean. Bron will shoo them off and thengive you the Gladius technique, which requires "Core" parts; this translatesto lightning element stuff. To get them means going down to B15F and further!

After the earthquake, go to Middle Wystern and return to the old couple'shouse; the son has returned and he gives you a new elemental technique.

The Items Shop in Middle Wystern has finally opened so pay it a visit; Irecommend getting either the Iron Necklace from here, or the Iron Ring now instock at the Lower Wystern shop.

Now head for the Labyrinth; Sanary will meet you outside, commiserating withyou about the twins. Afterwards, go down into the Labyrinth, teleporting toB11F. Go down to B12F and try to open the Northern door; no luck, but yourGuardian Beast suggests you ask someone to give you access.

Leave the Labyrinth and you'll run into the mysterious woman again, who saysthe key belongs to Master Sakuro. Go to Middle Wystern again and enter thehouse North of the Items Shop to find him. He offers to put you through sometraining, so accept it; he'll give you the Lesson Recipe and sends you on yourway.

1) Go to the house South-East of Sakuro's and talk to the Craftknight there; you'll receive the Menu Material 1.2) Go to the house where you traded Kenon's Axe and talk to the woman there this time, to get the Menu Material 2.

Page 19: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

3) Return to Master Sakuro's house and give him the Menu Materials; he'll give you a Sword Type technique in return.4) Forge it at the Silver Guild to get... a ladle!?5) Return to Master Sakuro's house again and he'll send you off to get some spices next.6) Go to Lower Wystern and talk to the man with a turban south of the Harbour; pick the middle option to get the Spice Set for free. (See below table)

\========================================/ | Say | Translation | Cost | /========================================\ | Bill deje | Can I pay? | 1200b | | Pata nahin | I don't know | 0b | | Cam kalona | Give me a discount | 1000b | \========================================/

7) Return to Master Sakuro's house yet again; he asks you to make some curry for him as part of your training.8) Walk to the pot, and after you've peeled the potatoes, put in the four items as they appear on the list: Seafood, Vegetables, Water and then Spices.9) When you're done, it seems Master Sakuro has escaped! Leave his house and go to the Ceremony Hall on the Castle's second floor.

He explains that this whole quest was what his master, Shintetsu, made him dowhen was still an apprentice. He gives you the Labyrinth Key 2, so let'sexplore further:

B13F - Heal PanelB14F - Kicker Potion, Red LanternB15F - Kicker PotionB16F - Kicker Potion, Blue FlaskB18F - Teleporter, Core Parts, Portable Canteen, Small Faucet, Cooling Fan, Conductor Rod, Blue Flask

Return to your room in the Silver Guild and convert the items into materials,and make both the Gladius and Razzy's Knuckles. Go downstairs and talk to Bronand then go to Sakuro in Middle Wystern. Done with them, return to LowerWystern and enter the house on the water in the North-East corner of thescreen. Trade Razzy's Knuckle to the man in green and he'll give you a newelemental technique.

[%%%]4th Round: Ariel and Mariel [08f.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: 650 | Dur: 95

Not an easy fight unless you know the tactic. Simple enough, make Ariel jumpat you, block the attack and then let loose with the Drill as she lands.

Win: 2040 Exp 850 boam Ariel's Drill technique

Page 20: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Sakuro has now been added to the walk list.

<---[08g] Day 06: The Sword of Shintetsu------------------------>

Sakuro arrives at your room to give the official announcement that you're nowin the semi-finals. Bron comes in afterwards and gives you the Zantetsu Bladetechnique. When he leaves, forge Ariel's Drill and then the Zantetsu Blade,and he'll come back in. Go with him back to your house and after a bit, he'lltell you to go talk to an old man in Upper Wystern.

Leave the house (with Amariss' delivery for him) and then go to the housewhere they wanted a cat. Talk to the man (the younger one) and he says hewants to get rid of some of them. Go to the Harbour and talk to the man there;apparently he's a cat collector. Return to the Cathouse (Meow!) and tell theman here about the collector, and you'll get a new elemental technique.

Now, go to the house where you gave the man a Matchbox and talk to the woman;give her Ariel's Drill and she'll give you another elemental technique.

Head to Upper Wystern and go into the North-Western door (where it'd take youup a floor if it was on Lower or Middle Wystern) and you'll find yourself insomeone's apartment. He'll recognise you as Shintetsu's child and after abrief chat, gives you the Labyrinth Key 3, telling you to get some Dragon FangOre on the way.

Head to the Labyrinth, and at the enrance you'll be given the Bestiary.Inside, teleport to B11F and go down to the next level. This time open up theother door and you'll find the mysterious woman by the sword again. She dropshints about your father and then tells you to carry on through the Labyrinth.

B18F - Conductor RodB19F - Klotzen PotionB22F - Kicker Potion x3, AmuletB23F - Heal Panel, Klotzen Potion

[%%%]Boss: Heavy Metal [08g.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: ???

Just pummel it with magic. No sense inviting trouble or broken weapons in thisfight.

Win: 8000 Exp 950 boam

Page 21: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Dragon Fang Ore[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Haul yourself all the way back to the room with the sword, and the mysteriouswoman will talk to you again. She tells you to draw the "Western Sword" afterremoving the seal from it, and then tells you to keep it, since it was nolonger safe there.

Head back to B11F and teleport out of there; once you leave, Varil approachesand basically reaffirms your rivalry. Head to the Silver Guild and heal up,doing whatever you need to do, and then go to Upper Wystern. Head Southwardsand you'll find the old man surrounded by a bunch of soldiers from Deigleya.It turns out the old man is Master Rondeau, the Craftlord of Diamond, theleader of the Craftlords. The soldiers are annoyed by your side conversationand start battle!

[%%%]Boss: Soldier [08g.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: 800 | Dur: 70

Whilst they do have a durability stat, the Soldier's weapon isn't unique, soyou don't need to bother with breaking it. Just pummel this guy however youwant, just steer clear of his combo's.

Win: 2940 Exp 1000 boam[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

After a chat, you give Master Rondeau the Dragon Fang Ore and he tells you toshow the sword to Bron. Once Rondeau and Sakuro depart, Bron and Amarissarrive, the latter taking the sword from you.

<---[08h] Day 07: Cute and Lacy--------------------------------->

Razzy wakes you up, with news of someone washing up on docks. Run over thereand Amariss gets you and Varil to take him to your house. There they questionhim about what happened, but his amnesia isn't helping. However, it seems he'stalking about an island to the north, with a vortex near by. Razzy and Varilboth decide to go investigate, while Sanary goes into another of her littlesnits. Tell Amariss that you want to go and she says to ask Bron aboutborrowing a boat in her name.

Leave the house and go to the Sword-lovers house (On the water, justNorth-West of the Silver Guild). Equip only sword type weapons and talk to theman there, and he'll give you a new elemental technique.

Page 22: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Go to the Silver Guild and talk to Bron; he'll give you the Boat Key and theHigh Blade technique. Make sure to learn the Murder Pole technique from him aswell. Head upstairs and forge both the Murder Pole and the Hydra Burst Axe.

Go to the Knuckles-loving family (North-East Lower Wystern) and talk to thefamily. Go up to Middle Wystern and buy a Gold Necklace in the Items Shop.Talk to the man on the mini-pier to the North-West of the Items Shop and sayyou believe him; he'll give you Deep Sea Ore. Next, go to the Spear-lovingCraftknight's house and trade her the Murder Pole; you'll get yet anotherelemental technique in return. Go to the Old Couples home and talk to thewoman, answering yes

Go to the Harbour and go into the cabin on Bron's boat. Walk up to the wheeland set sail. At the vortex, you're quickly losing control of the boat whenyou come under attack!

[%%%]Boss: Giant Serpent [08h.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: ???

Switch to the Hydra Burst Axe you forged earlier. Do a forwards jump attack,and as you land, jump backwards (so you're still facing the Giant Serpent) andswing as soon as you can whilst in the air. You should land out of its rangeas it does any of its moves. Just keep repeating the process and it'll diewithout even touching you.

Win: 2500 Exp 1100 boam Large Fishhook[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Go back into the cabin and go below decks to rest in the bed. Head backoutside and North towards the town, make your way underneath the bridge andyou'll hear two Deigleyan soldiers talking. Go South through the trees andfollow the path around to where you find Varil, who's injured, and a very"cute" girl. He says that both Razzy and Sanary were captured, whilst hebarely evaded it thanks to the girl's help.

Some people come nearby and Varil recognises one of them as Master Lubert,Craftlord of Amber, who's apparently working with the Deigleyan soldiers,looking for a sword...

The "cute" girl tells you about a secret path into the village, following therocky path around, so do so. Go into the wooden hut, and when the man asks,tell him "She sure was!" He tells you there's a secret path into the villagebehind the hut. Exit and go around the hut and into the cave; go up the ladderto emerge from a well. Go down the stairs and to the North-West corner andinto the cave there, thus entering the Marine Dungeon:

Page 23: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

B1F - Klotzen Potion, smash odd floor in southB2F - Klotzen PotionB3F: Varil arrives as you overhear some more soldiers talking; apparently Razzy and Sanary are being held in different places, and you can choose who to go after, leaving the other one for Varil. Sanary's has a slightly better reward, but not by much.

Rescue Sanary: Head off to the left and follow the path around; you'll see a gathering of Deigleyan soldier and... Sanary in a maid outfit!? She's serving tea to the soldiers, and she's a bit narked about that (though she does like the clothes!)

You can choose to rescue her or watch a bit longer; if you choose the latter, she's made to give a massage to one of the soldiers. Again, you can choose to rescue her or watch a bit longer; if the latter, she's made to dance for them. She also reveals that she's sister to one of the Craftlords. Finally, one of the soldiers tries to make Sanary kiss him, so you storm out to confront them; however, they're scared off by a big thing behind you!

[%%%]Boss: Grudge Fish [08h.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Basically the same as the fight against the Giant Serpent. Repeat the tactic from that battle and wipe the floor with this guy.

Win: 3800 Exp 1200 boam Burnt Scale [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Go down the rope ladder and you'll find both Razzy and Varil.

Rescue Razzy: Go down to B4F and follow the path; a whole bunch of Deigleyan soldiers will run past you. Continue on and you'll find Razzy in front of a big monster.

[%%%]Boss: Evil Fish [08h.3][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Basically the same as the fight against the Giant Serpent or Grudge Fish. Repeat the tactic from that battle and wipe the floor with this guy.

Page 24: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Win: 3600 Exp 1200 boam Large Scale [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Once it's defeated, Varil and Sanary arrive.

Apparently the vortex is summoned by a Summon Creature the Deigleyans are using, so everyone rushes off to confront it

B5F: Smash the odd floor to the South-WestB6F: Heal Panel by the stairs downB7F: Black Boots in top-left corner

[%%%]Boss: King Crabber [08h.4][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

The fight takes place atop the Summon Creature, it's eye-antennae the targets, the one to the right counting as its back. The key to this fight is knowing the warning signals for the King Crabber's attacks:

1) When one antenna goes down, a low claw from that side will lash out as far as the still-standing antenna. 2) When both go down, but one goes before the other, a low claw from that side will lash out almost all the way to the opposite side, followed by a high claw from the other side. 3) When both go down at the same time, the claws will lash out as far as the antennae on that particular side, going Left-Right-Left-Right. 4) When both antennae nubs flash green, the King Crabber opens its mouth and a typhoon emerges, which does multiple hits; it only does this if you stand inbetween the antennae for several seconds.

The King Crabber will also emit bubbles if you stand near the center, which are somewhat annoying.

The tactic to win is actually quite simple; run over to the right side and whale on that antenna, keeping an eye on the movement of the antennae, ready to run to the opposite side as soon as possible.

Win: 14000 Exp 1300 boam Spiral Ring [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

After some more talking, go to the Mayor's House (East of where you'restanding) and choose to wait there. There's a whole long-winded conversationbasically about how the Mayor of Rugista Island hid the "Eastern Sword" fromthe Delgeyian soldiers, and he entrusts it to you. Back at Wystern, head to

Page 25: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

your house and talk to Amariss; she'll take the Eastern Sword off your handsas well.

<---[08i] Day 08: What Makes a Hero?---------------------------->

Sanary comes in after you wake up and asks if you'll come and see her match;pick either option. There's another earthquake, which you decide you want toknow more about, so your Guardian Beast suggests you visit Master Rondeau.

First though, go to Middle Wystern and visit the Old Couple again; talk to thewoman and she'll give you another elemental technique. Next, go to theAxe-loving Knight's house and you'll find him gone; talk to his wife and agreeto listen to her grievances. Leave the house and go to the Technique Seller'shouse (South of the Gold Guild); buy the new elemental technique off him for5,000 boam. Go to Upper Wystern next and talk to the man in green, and offerto help him. Talk to all six of the men working for him (Five of them are tothe right, the sixth is to the bottom-left) and then talk to him again, andhe'll give you Spiked Shoes.

Go and talk to Rondeau now; however, you're interrupted by Master Ureksa whobrings a report about Kagro volcano. Master Rondeau tells you to accompanyUreksa on an expedition to further investigate the volcano. Go to the SilverGuild and talk to Bron; he'll give you the Bastard Sword technique, as well aspermission to use his boat.

I don't know about you, but I was kind of low on materials at this point, so Iwent to the Labyrinth and explored the levels I couldn't go to earlier:

B25F: Klotzen Potion x2, Small GeneratorB26F: Teleporter, Klotzen PotionB28F: Heal Panel, as far as you can go

Before I went to the Harbour, I made sure I had the strongest Drill availableand a Hydro Halberd, as well as a Bastard Sword to smack stuff about with.

On route to the Harbour, the mysterious woman appears again, this timedropping hints about your journey. In the Harbour, talk to Master Ureksa andhe'll go on about heroes as well. Finally at Kagro Volcano, go and talk toUreksa and he'll hit you with a sucker-punch. You're woken up by a stranger,who suggests you stay out of what's going on. After he (Hayato) leaves, goNorth and then take the Eastern path.

[%%%]Boss: Chaves [08i.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Page 26: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

HP: 1200 | Dur: 70

It's actually easier to break his weapon than to plain KO him in this fight, Ifind. It's pretty much a freebie though.

Win: 4320 Exp 1200 boam[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Leave the chamber and this time take the other path, this time entering KagroVolcano:

B1F: Just go down the stairs.B2F: You and Hayato eavesdrop on Lubert and Ureksa talking about "Shintetsu's Sword", enter the forge and rest in the bed.B3F: Top portal, Klotzen Potion, Return. Right Portal, Right Portal, barrels to top-left, stairs top-right.B4F: Always take furthest option first; barrels first time, Amulet second.B5F: Hayato gets into an argument with Lubert and Ureksa, and then summons his Summon Beast who stops them for now. Head South and follow the path until Ureksa catches up with you.

[%%%]Boss: Ureksa [08i.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: 1050 | Dur: 105

This is an irritating fight since he's faster than you are, making it difficult to force him to block. Nonetheless, in the corner with a drill always does the trick.

Win: 4480 Exp 1400 boam Ureksa's Spear Technique [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

B6F: Take the Left Portal and follow the path until you have another choice; this time left again. Heal Panel just before stairsB7F: Go South and through the first Portal. Go to the farthest Portal to get the Spiked Shoes. Return and take the remaining Portal. Hayato is in bad shape with a nasty Summon Beast looming over him. Time to step in!

[%%%]Boss: Kirin [08i.3][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

It's not that this guy is hard, it's just annoying that your weapons are heavily damaged in attacking him, however high their TEC stat is.

Page 27: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Position yourself underneath Kirin's head facing the same direction as it is and pummel it. If the head lifts slightly, block the ensuing stone shards; if the head disappears, run to the other side of the screen. If you hear a fireball, start running back. Fast. Make sure to switch your weapons before they break; the upwards Drill works fairly well in this fight.

Win: 18500 Exp 1500 boam Magatama Necklet (ATK +17, AGL +17 | Fire +17, Wind +45) [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

The "Northern Sword" is dropped by the Kirin as it's destroyed, so you quicklysnatch that up. Back at the quasi-Harbour, Hayato bids you farewell. Momentslater, Lubert turns up, demanding you give him the sword! Good thing themysterious woman (...I'm getting really sodding fed up of typing that) showsup, and stalls him whilst your Guardian Beast drags you onto the boat.

Back at Wystern, head to your house and give Amariss the Northern Sword; shereminds you about Sanary's fight. Go to the Silver Guild and you'll see Sanaryand Razzy both there; you apologise for missing the match, which apparentlySanary won in just one blow! Scary!

<---[08j] Day 09: An Exercise in Futility----------------------->

Razzy comes rushing into your room asking you to go to Vance Cape with her;agree and then Bron enters as well. He asks you to go with Razzy and deliverthe weapons.

Forge Ureksa's Spear and then go downstairs; talk to the two Guildmates whostand by the doors, and then talk to the kid in Bron's bed. Leave the SilverGuild and go to the North-East-most house. Talk to the man here and tell himyou saw his son at the Silver Guild; he'll give you an elemental technique.Go to the Spear-loving Craftknight on Middle Wystern and trade her Ureksa'sSpear for another elemental technique. Next, go to the Axe-loving Knight'shouse and you'll find he's still gone; talk to his wife and agree to listen.

Go to the Harbour and talk to Razzy; set sail for Vance Cape! Make yourdelivery to the Weapons Shop; the ShopKeeper will talk to you and Razzy aboutBron, and then about Master Ureksa, who apparently has a house in Vance! Razzyruns off to investigate it; leave the shop and you'll see Ureksa head to theHarbour.

Go West and talk to Razzy; she's peeking into Master Ureksa's house, where

Page 28: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

there's apparently a beautiful woman. She overhears your discussion andinvites you in; she's Rumari, Ureksa's sister. Apparently she's really ill,and moved to Vance for her health. Discussion moves on to the missingCraftlord of Crystal, Master Tyram, who was Rumari's lover until hedisappeared.

As you and Razzy leave, your Guardian Beast hangs back and talks to Rumari abit longer, revealing she was the former Craftlord of Jade, and that she knowswhat's going on.

Back at Wystern, Razzy tells you to deliver the payment to Bron and then meether at Sakuro's, so head to the Silver Guild. Talk to him and he'll give youthe Crystal Sword technique. Take this opportunity to forge weapons (the BlueThunder sword might be an idea!) and collect materials first.

When you're done, go to Middle Wystern and enter Master Sakuro's house. Hebasically warns you off the whole thing. Leave, and Razzy is waiting for yououtside and says that she's going to visit Rumari again. Go to the docks, andas you prepare to set sail, Sanary joins you.

At Vance, go to Rumari's house and you'll find Razzy and Sanary waitingoutside; talk to them and they'll say they saw Master Ureksa and then rush offto the lighthouse. Follow them and you'll see they get captured and takeninside, handily removing the guards. Follow them inside to the CapeLighthouse:

He overheard a meeting between Lubert and Ureksa and was captured so he couldn't spread word. He says Lubert is motivated by greed, whilst Ureksa wants vengeance on Parista for the incurable heat disease it gave his sister. Varil arrives via a secret passageway and you all escape.

There's a Heal Panel in the next room.

Outside, Tyram is waiting for you, but as you're about to flee, Ureksa shows up and challenges Tyram. However, he's still weak from a month of captivity, so you step in the way!

[%%%]Boss: Ureksa [08j.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: 1300 | Dur: 110

Ureksa now uses Quick Move and Weapon Shield spells in this fight, which

Page 29: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

makes it a lot harder if he gets the chance to cast them. Close him down fast and make sure to cancel his casting. It's a good idea to try and hit him in mid-air as well, so you can enforce a multi-hit guard with the Drill's Down+A attack as he's rising. However, you do not need to break Ureksa's spear in this fight if you do not wish to do so; you can get it at a later date.

Win: 5440 Exp 1700 boam Ureksa's Spear EX technique [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Damn that mysterious woman! As Ureksa explains his motives, she turns up again and is finally revealed as Master Kouren, the Craftlord of Ruby! Ureksa realises that he's lost everything, that all the Craftlords know of his deceit, and when Kouren reveals that Tyram was researching about Kuhrya, the Holy Spirit of Ice, who could possibly defeat Parista and heal Rumari, he snaps, throwing himself off the Lighthouse to his death.

Go back into the cell and climb the ladder in the middle; read the inscription twice, and your Guardian Beast will notice something. Go back outside and take the path Craftlords Kouren and Tyram took down the side of the lighthouse, and back inside.

G6F: Emerald Magatama (Top-left), Klotzen Potion x2 & Emerald Magatama & Gale Ore (Secret Room), Stairs Up & Down (Top-right)

Head up to the eighth floor to find a chest holding an Ancient Ring! Next, makeyour way back down to G1F and leave the Cape Lighthouse. Razzy, Sanary andVaril are waiting for you outside; apparently Kouren and Tyram have alreadydisappeared for a Craftlord meeting, so no one's told Rumari what's happened;volunteer to do so.

She'll go to the Harbour and talk to Kouren and Tyram, the latter renouncinghis Craftlord title so he can stay with Rumari. Kouren tells you to back offfrom the Parista situation and to take it easy. The others leave except forSanary, who tells you that she's Kouren's sister, and that she knew everythingbeforehand, and she apologises for something else, but doesn't say what...

<---[08k] Day 10: Face of the Enemy----------------------------->

Sakuro arrives early and asks you to accompany him on a mission to Fort

Page 30: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Mirana, currently held by the Deigleyans; agree to go with him and he'll giveyou the Labyrinth Key 4. Go downstairs and talk to Bron to get the Gozantotechnique; go back upstairs and forge it followed by the Goranto. Make sureyou get the Terra Rotor technique from Bron as well and forge it.

Go to the Drill-loving Knight in South Lower Wystern and give her the TerraRotor, you'll get another elemental technique. Go to the Cathouse and talk tothe little girl and the old man. Next, head to the Harbour and talk to thecats there. Return to the Cathouse and tell the old man that you saw the catat the Harbour with another cat, and he'll give you a new elemental technique.Head up to Middle Wystern and go to the Axe-loving Knight's house; he's stillgone so talk to his wife and agree to listen.

Next, head into the Labyrinth and teleport to B26F:

B29F: Summon Charm (Top-right)B31F: Teleporter, Med Kit (Top-right)B33F: Klotzen Potion (Bottom-left),B34F: Klotzen Potion x2 (Top-right), locked door

Return to your room and do whatever forging you need to. I recommend takingthe Goranto, a drill and either a spear or axe with you. When you're ready, goto the Harbour and talk to Master Sakuro; tell him you're ready and he'llexplain what's going on; apparently the Gold Guild is selling weapons to theDeigleyans and Sakuro wants to investigate. Varil barges in and insists uponcoming as well since if the Gold Guild really are doing so, he feels somewhatresponsible.

En route to Fort Mirana, the ship is spotted by a Deigleyan patrol, so Sakuroorders you and Varil to swim to the Fort whilst he lures the patrol away. Ondry land again, Varil rushes off again, so follow him inside Fort Mirana:

G1F: Amulet (Inside, top-right)G2F: Conductor Rod (Inside, Right)G3FR: Go straight upG4FR: Go straight downG3F: Meet with Varil inside, Stairs (Top-right)G4F: Work your way outsideG5F: Klotzen Potion & Conductor Rod (Inside, top-right)G6F: Electric Stone (Inside, center), Stairs (Outside, left)G7F: Electric Stone (Inside, center)G8F: Electric Stone & Klotzen Potion (Insider, bottom-right), Stairs (Inside, top-right)G9F: Heal Panel (Inside, top-right), Electric Stone & Golden Magatama (Inside, top-left)

Outside, you'll find Varil eavesdropping in on Lubert and some Deigleyan

Page 31: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

soldiers; after the Craftlord spots you, he slings some insults at Varil about his father, and then the soldiers attack you

[%%%]Boss: Soldier [08k.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: 1250 | Dur: 125

Like the last fight against Deigleyan soldiers, there's no need to break this guy's weapon. He's also a lot easier than the last one was. Block and combo, block and combo. That's all there is to it.

Win: 3400 Exp 1400 boam [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

They run away where you came from, but other soldiers are coming to aid them. Run to the left and enter the pipe; you'll call for Varil to come and join you there.

G1F: After shimmying down the pipe, exit to the Harbour and head to the right; Varil holds off some more soldiers as Lubert arrives!

[%%%]Boss: Lubert [08k.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: 1350 | Dur: 120

Lubert is pretty damn fast and the multi-hit Drill attack does a major amount of damage, so it's tough to box him into a corner for the ritual destruction by drilling. The best bet is to block his jump attacks and then let loose as he lands. Like the last Ureksa fight though, there's no need to break his drill.

Win: 5040 Exp 1800 boam Lubert's Drill technique [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

With Lubert defeated, Master Sakuro finally shows up to place Lubert under arrest. Apparently he stole a part of Parista, the Holy Spirit of Swords, and it's residing in the nearby crate; he intended to give it to the Deigleyans so they could research whether they could control it. Suddenly, earthquakes rock Fort Mirana, sending crates flying down from above. Lubert is smashed by one, as is Sakuro as he pushes Varil out of the way. One also lands on the crate containing the Partista Portion (Am I witty or what?) and you're the only one who isn't injured!

Page 32: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

[%%%]Boss: Parista [08k.3][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Parista has three main attacks; a flamethrower move that's charged up (signified by the flashing spines in its back) and some of your moves go underneath it; a short-ranged lick, and a Gut Chomp... that is, his gut turns into a giant mouth and bites at mid-to-long range for high damage.

The best tactic for this fight is to run in close with your drill still equipped and do the multi-hit attack to its gut, and then retreat once it's done. Keep repeating the process; the drill move goes underneath the flamethrower so you can avoid that easily. Just be sure to run when you see its gut convulse.

Win: 29000 Exp 500 boam Blazing Ore [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

<---[08l] Day 11: A Grieving Sword------------------------------>

The day starts off with a section that depends upon who you took you eveningwalk with the previous night. None of them get you items or anything, but theyoffer some interesting insight into the other characters.

Once you're back from your "date", you receive the next match notice, youropponent being Sanary! She comes in and asks you to come to Bron's office,since she has something she wants to show you both, Meet them there and Sanarydisplays her sword, which amazes everyone with how good it is. After sheleaves, you're still a bit put-out by how good the weapon was; Bron sees thisand tells you that your hammer isn't good enough! He suggests you try usingShintetsu's hammer, and that Amariss probably has it. Also, until you get it,he won't teach you any new techniques. Not that we need the idiot.

Leave the Silver Guild, but before we being the Hammer quest, head to theHarbour and get on Bron's ship. Read the book and make sure to learn and forgethe Platinum Lance, as well as any others you may want to.

Now we have a round of SIX special techniques to get!

1) Go to the Cathouse and talk to the old man; he'll give you the Super Catickles technique.2) Go to the Sword-loving Knight's house and talk to him; he'll give you the Buzzsaw Sword technique.

Page 33: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

3) Go to the Drill-loving Knight's house and talk to her; she'll give you the Sweet Cake technique. (This weapon is AWESOME; a max TEC of 255!)4) Go to the Axe-loving Knight's house and talk to his wife; she'll give you the Demonic Boneaxe technique.5) Go to the Technique Seller's house and talk to him; pay 10,000 boam for a new elemental technique.6) Go to the Spear-loving Knight's house and talk to her; trade her the Platinum Lance for another elemental technique.

Now head to your house and talk to Amariss; you explain the situation to herand she agrees with what Bron said, but tells you that Master Rondeau has herhusbands hammer at the moment. Go to Upper Wystern and visit him; he'll tellyou to go away since you seem so lacking in spirit. However, after listeningto your story, he comments that Shintetsu's hammer is different for everyperson. Master Kouren joins in as well; she talks about how fired up Sanary isabout her match with you. Master Rondeau says that he has been summoned, sothey leave, but not before telling you that Master Sakuro now has the hammer.

Go into the Castle 3rd floor and enter the secret door; Sakuro will see youand agrees to meet you outside. He mentions how he thinks Sanary'ssword-fighting has been rather odd and her improvement far too fast; themeaning behind her sword is hidden and can't be discovered until you fighther.

You explain that's why you were told to get Shintetsu's hammer; Sakuro takesyou back to his place and let's you swing it about. You have a little momentwith your inner Shintetsu, realising it's not the hammer that's important,it's the effort and soul put into forging the weapon. Return to the SilverGuild and talk to Bron; after yet another cheesy moment, he'll give you theMesser Blade technique

Head off to the Labyrinth and teleport down to B31F:

B34F: Klotzen Potion (Bottom-left)B35F: Steel Plate & Klotzen Potion & Martial Ore (Top)B36F: Klotzen Potion & Martial Ore & Iron Ore (Top-right)B37F: Teleporter (Top-right)B38F: Med Kit (Top-left), Klotzen Potion x2 (Top)B39F: There's two guards blocking the route off here

Return to the Silver Guild and do any necessary forging before heading to thecastle for you semi-final match!

[%%%]Semi-Final: Sanary [08l.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]HP: 1580 | Dur: 95

This fight is infuriating; her sword combo's hurt a hell of a lot and she'sfast to boot. However, if you smack her once, she tends to hold her guard a

Page 34: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

bit too long, so take that opportunity to shove yer drill in. You don't needto break her weapon, but it's a really good sword to use for a while, if theSweet Drill isn't to your liking.

Win: 7560 Exp 2100 boam Sanary's Sword technique[%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

After the match, Sanary stalks off. You catch up to her in the Castle 1stfloor and she asks to see your weapon. She starts acting weird and thensnatches your weapon and moonwalks (Yes, MOONWALKS) into the Labyrinth. MasterKouren comes rushing up and you tell her what just happens; she orders you togo to the Ceremony Hall for a meeting.

Masters Rondeau, Sakuro and Kouren are there along with Razzy and Varil. Theytell you that the earthquakes are caused by Parista's awakening, and thatShintetsu's swords would no longer seal it completely. Varil gets pissed offsince it's obvious there's something that the Craftlords are still hiding fromyou and storms out of the meeting.

<---[08m] Day 12: Spirit Liberation----------------------------->

Back at the Silver Guild, Masters Rondeau and Kouren, as well as Bron, comeinto your room. They tell you that there's been no sign of Sanary so far, butthat she's definitely in the Labyrinth. However, they also tell you not to golooking for her, but to concentrate on the upcoming Tournament final. Theyexplain that the tournament is just a cover, to distract the populace as theCraftlords work to reseal Palista. Kouren gives you the Match Notice 5, yourfinal opponent being Varil, and then they leave.

Go and see the Spear-loving Knight and talk to her; she'll give you the FishHoarder technique.

Bron's disappeared, but there are still techniques you can learn! Go to theboat and read the book to get any left.

Go to the Labyrinth entrance and talk to the Officer there; he wants to helpbut has a duty to not let anyone past him. However, he points you towardsanother Officer who may know where another entrance is. Head to the secondfloor of the castle and talk to the Officer there; he tells you that there's aroom on the third floor that houses the second Labyrinth entrance. On thethird floor, walk through the main entrance to the Craftlord's chambers andtalk to the Officer there; it's the amnesiac that your mother, Amariss,helped. He tells you to feel free in sneaking in. Follow the same route you

Page 35: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

took to get to the flower garden, but this time go into the doorway justSouth-East of the stairs instead.

Inside, you find Libody and Bron have already apprehended Razzy who tried theexact same thing; you manage to convince them to let you past though!

(NOTE: Bron now returns to his usual place in the Silver Guild, if you want to learn more techniques from him, though he has no more that aren't in the book on his boat.)

B39F: Guards gone, Heal Panel (Top-left)B41F: Klotzen Potion (Bottom-left)B42F: Klotzen Potion & Martial Ore (Bottom-left), Large Fishhook (Bottom-right)B43F: Martial Ore (Left), Klotzen Potion (Top-right)B44F: Summon Charm & Martial Ore (Top-left), Klotzen Potion (Top-right)B45F: Teleporter (Top), Med Kit & Amulet (Middle)B46F: Martial Ore (Bottom), Klotzen Potion & Martial Ore & Machinawyrm Bolt (Top)B47F: Klotzen Potion (Top-right)

Apparently, Ureksa was under Parista's control in the first place! Bullcrap I say, but whatever. He's right in front of you and spoiling for a fight...

[%%%]Boss: Ureksa [08m.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: 1650 | Dur: 125

I actually found this easier than the previous encouter with Ureksa. Smack him once to make him bring up his guard and then spin away into him. Once more, no need to break his spear, since you can get it again soon.

Win: 8800 Exp 2200 boam Neo Ureksa Spear technique [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

Sakuro tells you that

Use the Heal Panel and then continue downwards

B48F: Wyvern Talon (Top-left), Klotzen Potion (Middle)B49F: Bottom-left door (Crystals) Receive Small Key Face-to-face with Parista

[%%%]Boss: Parista (1st) [08m.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Oh bugger. Your hits all do 1 damage to it, and it doesn't seem to have much effect!

When it rears its head back, it'll do one of two moves:

Page 36: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

Fireball - It breathes out smoke as it rears back; run into the bottom-right corner and keep running against it. Lunging Chomp - Its eyes flick left and right a lot; press forwards into it's hand.

If the head goes off screen but one hand stays on, it'll smash it into the ground in the bottom-right corner, sending down four rocks onto the screen.

Parista also has an Arm attack, but only seems to do that when you manage to get yourself into the bottom-right corner when it's not attacking; it's signified by it rearing its head back and both hands going off screen [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

If you hang on long enough, the fight automatically ends. Parista decides to finish you off via Sanary, but Varil intercedes. For a moment Sanary wrests back control and gives him her Summonite Gem. Then you collapse like an idiot.

You wake up in a bed inside a forge room, with Varil, Razzy, Sakuro and... Kuhrya! Remember him? He's the Holy Spirit of Ice and he was summoned by Shintetsu to try and return Parista to the spirit world, Sapureth, but it failed because Parista only wants vengeance upon the humans now. It turns out Shintetsu knew he and his swords weren't enough to send Parista back, so he literally put his soul into them to seal him at least temporarily.

Kuhrya tells you that in order to forge a new sword to defeat Parista with, it needs Summonite Gems, Summonite Ore (which Sakuro can get) and the soul of your Guardian Beast!

...

Of course, you don't ACTUALLY have to do that. You can just go get the three swords Shintetsu forged from Amariss and forge them into one, along with the "Southern Sword" that Kuhrya was left with.

B50F: There's a Teleporter in the top-right corner; use it to warp to B1F and exit.

Head back to your house and you'll find several Deigleyan soldiers inside...being lectured by Amariss! After taking the fight outside and wiping the floorwith one soldier, Bron turns up to take care of the rest. Amariss gives youthe swords so make your way back to Kuhrya's Forge in the Labyrinth:

B50F: Tell Kuhrya that you have the swords and together you forge your choice of the five weapon types.

Page 37: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

B49F: [%%%]Boss: Parista (2nd) [08m.3][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Basically, just the tactics from the first meeting, but you can actually damage it now.

Win: 13000 Exp 2400 boam [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

[%%%]Boss: Parista (3rd) [08m.3][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Parista's final form has five attacks:

Hands - Two hands pop out of the ground and then rush from right-to-left; jump them. Fists - An impact circle appears on the ground in front of Parista's face, about a second-and-a-half later, a fist erupts from there; jump at Parista's face or go to the left. Sanary - Sanary is bathed in a green light and floats across screen, firing lasers; either go to the far-left or block. Face - Parista's face starts glowing green and then projects itself across the screen; either go to the left or block. Beam - A glow emits from Parista's mouth before erupting in a beam that does multiple hits; it's unavoidable, but still doesn't do much damage.

The rest of the time, just pummel it.

Win: 50000 Exp 2500 boam Dragon Fossils [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

<---[08n] Day 13: Ad Infinitum---------------------------------->

With Parista having returned to Sapureth, the spirit realm, the crystalencrusted doors in the Labyrinth are now unsealed, allowing access to afurther fifty levels and several new enemies and bosses, not to mention newtechniques!

Also, if you go to Kuhrya's forge in B50F, you can switch your chosen GuardianBeast with him, allowing you to forge any and all elemental weapons. But don'tworry, you can switch back to your own any time you want.

Finally, in place of the tournament, there is now an exhibition match at thecastle; it costs 1,000 boam to enter, and you have a continuous string of

Page 38: Summon Night I (Walkthrough)

eight matches against the following:

Chaves > Kenon > Razzy > Ariel > Lubert > Sanary > Ureksa > Varil

Various prizes can be won, including any of the boss techniques you failed toget during the main game, as well as the Hammer Head spear technique. It'salso a fairly fast way of getting Mystical Ores if you need them.

B51F: Water Bracelet (Bottom-left)B53F: Klotzen Potion (Top-right)B54F: Ancient Bracelet (Bottom-Right)B56F: Teleporter (Bottom-left), Windproof Shoes (Top-left)B58F: Martial Ore (Bottom-left)B59F: Ancient Ring & Demons Rage Swd technique (Right)B60F: Beast Fossils (Bottom-left), Heal Panel (Top-right)

[%%%]Boss: Evil Metal [08n.1][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Its first incarnation was a walk over, but Evil Metal here is one nasty piece of work, damage output and sheer toughness having been cranked right up. A combination of magic and drills do help a hell of a lot in this battle.

Win: 30500 Exp 5500 boam Fanged Drill technique (First Encounter) Hazard Knuckles technique (Second Encounter) [%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%]

B61F: Lightning Amulet (Bottom-right)B62F: Beast Fossils & Martial Ore (Top-left)B65F: Marine Bracelet (Middle)B66F: Teleporter (Top-right), Ancient Boots (Top-right)B69F: Heal Panel (Top-left), Sniper Lance technique (Top), Beast Fossils & Martial Ore (Top-right)B73F: Ancient Necklet (Bottom-right)B74F: Martial Ore (Bottom-left)B76F: Teleporter (Bottom-left), Klotzen Potion (Top-right)B77F: Klotzen Potion x2 & Beast Fossils (Top-right)B78F: Klotzen Potion (Middle)B79F: Martial Ore (Top-right), Beast Fossils & Klotzen Potion x2 (Top)B80F: Med Kit (Top-right), Heal Panel (Bottom-right)

[%%%]Boss: Omen Fish [08n.2][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

You remember that awesome tactic from earlier when you fought bosses of this type? Well, it still works. Just jump forwards and attack, jump back and attack, wait, repeat. Nice and easy.

Win: 48000 Exp 8500 boam Giant Fork technique (First Encounter)

[%%%]Boss: Inferno Kirin [08n.3][%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%] HP: ???

Inferno Kirin's moves are just like that of its weaker counterpart:

Rears back - stones fall; guard or run. Off screen high - possible change of side, or swoops. Off screen low - sonic boom; run or time jump.

What this fight really comes down to though, is your preparation. Typically, you should be at level 70 or higher, bearing three weapons all with their TEC maxed out. I recommend bringing some of the following weapons:

Aqua Fork (DUR of 240, TEC maxed out at 75, Water element) Demon Quencher (DUR of 130, TEC maxed out at 155, Water element) Haven Axe (DUR of 200, TEC maxed out at 70) Superconductor (DUR of 200, TEC maxed out at 200)

My personal favourite is the Aqua Fork, though the Superconductor comes a close second. You should also make sure that you have Enchant Aqua and Weapon Shield equipped as active spells before entering the battle.

For non-Water element weapons, cast Enchant Aqua upon them. When fighting, wait until your weapon's DUR goes down to 3-5, before casting Weapon Shield upon it; if you don't have many casts of Weapon Shield left, save them for naturally Water element weapons, since casting Weapon Shield upon a weapon which already has Enchant Aqua cast upon it, Weapon Shield will replace it.

Win: 65000 Exp 20000 boam Saintly Sword technique
