Summer News Religious Education Classes Have Finished for the Year,
but we are looking now at the changes for next year.
Hello Families! I know this has been a difficult time to circumvent the “normal” routines we had been so accustomed to, but we have perse-vered and will continue to do so as we move forward with our Faith Formation programing for the 2020-2021 academic year. One of the most integral concerns revolves around family faith formation with-out the headaches associated with home-schooling. We do not want to overburden households trying to get homework for school done, and have Faith Formation viewed as simply another thing to get done. We want to provide opportunities to grow with your children in the love of Christ so that together we can overcome the fear of the un-known.
On a positive note, families are being brought to the heart of the Eu-charist by coming back to the table for dinner, even if we are not able to share in the Eucharist at Mass. This table time offers opportunity to get reacquainted with the process of connecting more with family members. Even if this seems like “too much togetherness, believe it or not, there will be a time when you will miss it, so make sure you are getting the most out of the “new normal”.
As we look to the future, we are in contact with our publishers and they are coming up with great ways to share faith with families. We will have a Virtual “Children’s Liturgy of the Word” each weekend over summer beginning on May 31 (Pentecost). Your family can sign up to receive the PDF of the “Celebrate Sunday” and a copy of the manual to go with it, We are also hoping to do a “Virtual VBS” for families of all ages, complete with craft kits for the kids sometime in June-July. And, if we can’t meet at Mass, we are working toward live streaming from OLMC. (please continue to monitor the website for details)
Finally, although we are hoping that RE will start as usual, we are cre-ating a “plan b” to be prepared for anything that may occur. Even if we start as usual, we will probably have to limit the 9:30 session to 20 students per grade.
Please know that you and your family are in our prayers! Remember to keep each other in prayer, even when it seems like this will never end. Keep the faith!
Have a blessed summer

Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Formation News
Sacrament Update Sacrament Delay:
Per Diocesan requirements, we will be postponing the Sacrament Celebrations of First Holy Communion, Con-firmation and any RCIA rites until September.
Please know that we will place students who were to receive any Sacraments as a priority. We look forward to celebrating the Sacrament and the preparation that was missed including the retreats and Bread Breaking Celebrations in September. Please note, we will have to maintain strict adherence to any new mandates as they come along.
CLOTW: Children’s Liturgy Of The Word
We are going to test a Virtual Children’s Liturgy of the Word this year. The Link will be on our website under CLOTW.
We will also be looking to do a virtual VBS in late July
June 7– John: 3:16-18
Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
How do you see God? As Christians
we recognize God in three different
ways. Which Person of the Trinity do
relate to best: God the Father, Jesus
the Son, or the Holy Spirit? Google
Trinity art work and talk to your
family about the various representa-
tions of the Holy Trinity.
June 14- John 6: 51-58
Corpus Christi
When we receive the Eucharist, we
receive Jesus, and allow him to
transform our lives. Talk to your
children about what they miss most
about missing Mass and receiving
Jesus. On a nice day, take a walk
around the stations and stop by the
Church, when it opens , to spend
time with Jesus in front of the Tab-
ernacle.
June 21– Matthew 10:26-33
Do Not Be Afraid
In this tumultuous time, it is diffi-
cult to hear these words and prac-
tice trust in God. But we need to!
God is taking care of this ! Sit down
with your children and talk to them
about their fears then , together as a
family, give those fears to God.
Pray the Rosary together or recite
these words each night: Sacred
Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in
you!”
June 28– Matthew 10:40-42
Give without Expectations
Jesus tells us that we must remem-
ber to put God first, even above
family. This might be hard to under-
stand, but by loving God first, you
will love all others because that is
what he wants us to do. We must
see others through God’s view?
What does that mean for you?

This month, through our prayer and ser-vice, we learned to:
Have a conversation with your
children about true friendship.
What does it look like? How do
you know when a friend is just us-
ing you? Teach your children to
pray for the courage to speak the
truth when necessary. Teach them
how to be honest with their
friends when faced with difficult
choices.
June 28: Saint Irenaeus
Saint Irenaeus lived in the Second
Century as the Church was just
forming. We do not know much
about him, but we do have some
of his writings where his primary
concern was unity in the Church.
Since the Church as in its infancy,
Saints to Celebrate:
June 22: Saints John Fisher and Thomas More
Both of these Saints were friends to
King Henry VIII, but when King
Henry decided to turn against the
Catholic Church because he didn’t
care for the rules, these two men
stood their ground and tried to
talk to the King about his choices.
Both men stood up in a time of
tyranny to defend the Catholic
Church Teachings even though
they knew the King would not ap-
prove.
We are often faced with opposing
view points but must stand firm in
our belief, even when our friends
disapprove.
many people began to teach what
they thought was true. Irenaeus
wrote down the teachings of St.
Peter and the other apostles to pass
down the truth.
He taught that, according to Scrip-
ture, God wanted all people to be
saved and given the opportunity to
know God, love God, and obey his
commandments thereby building a
relationship with him.
Irenaeus worked for peace and uni-
ty within the Church. As a matter of
fact “Irenaeus” means peace. Have
your children talk about ways they
can be peacebuilders and then pray
a Rosary together for all the fami-
lies of the world.

The Family Update
The idea of Trinity is difficult to explain to anyone, and often, explanations miss the point or become lost in interpretation . One such explanation used for reference is the fact that water, at its chemical basis is H2O, but it has three distinct forms as a liq-uid, solid, or gas. This may be a great explanation on how one thing can be three, but it misses the es-sential point: relationship.
St. Augustine explains Trinity as an action of Love. We have heard it said God is Love, and St. Augustine said, “Whenever there is love, there is a trinity: a lover, the beloved, and a fountain of love.” Thus, Trinity is relationship.
As Christians, we believe in one God, threefold but eternally one. Can we explain this mystery reasona-bly? No, but we can acknowledge “that this mystery is reasonable when [we] accept God’s revelation in Jesus Christ.” (YouCAT, 36).
Read the following Scripture passages with your Children and discuss how this relationship works:
Genesis 1:26-27 John 1:1-18 (Look at 14)
John 10:30 John 3:16-18
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever easts this bread will live forever; and the bread that I give is my flesh for
the life of the world”
With all that is happening today, it is difficult to see our lives without God. When we go to Mass and receive the Body of Christ, we celebrate the unity of all believers and receive Jesus himself so we can reach out and be Jesus to others.
When Jesus calls himself the Bread of Life, he is reassuring his friends that God wants to provide for all our needs in this world and the next. The Eucharist sustains us spiritually and calls us to serve others. We are sent from the table to do so at each Mass.
Even though we have not been able to gather to-gether at the table, we should remind ourselves that we are the hands and feet of Christ in the world today.
