Summer Session
July 1–July 24
July 27–August 14
22nd Annual
2015
for public health studies
My summer session at the HSPH was an
exceptional experience which outpaced
my expectations. If you want to meet
bright teachers and gifted students in an
open-minded and friendly environment
this is the right place. Courses are at
the leading edge of public health, very
engaging and perfectly organized, and it
is a perfect opportunity to expand your
network.

CurriculumThe Summer Session offers courses for academic credit in:
•Biostatistics
•Environmental Health
•Epidemiology
•Ethics
•Global Health and Population
The Summer Session offers courses for academic credit in various disciplines of public health. These courses provide the framework for advanced study in every field of public health. They are essential for the practice of public health, for population-based primary care, and for evaluation of clinical effectiveness in specialty medicine. Please note: Courses marked with an * are limited enrollment and are only available on a space-available basis.
The public health “core” curriculum offered during the Summer Session is similar from year to year. Summer Session courses are taught by members of the Harvard faculty and are academically challenging. Students may complete one or two 2.5 credit courses per session, for a maximum of 5 credits per session or a total of 10 credits for the two sessions. As the coursework is very intensive and fast-paced, students registered for two courses in one session should not undertake other work commitments.
No auditors are allowed in any summer courses.
Who Should Apply? The Summer Session is intended for health professionals in training or those who are considering a mid-career change into public health and feel the need to strengthen their skills. Participants include degree and non-degree students. Summer students are public health professionals, primary care practitioners, physicians engaged in the evaluation of health care delivery and management, physicians in training, and candidates for a part-time MPH program.
