Look out NASA! Have you ev-er wanted to build and design your own rocket? Roll up your sleeves and get ready to build and test balloon rockets, rocket racers, study propulsion with Alka-Seltzer rockets and launch pop bottle rock-ets. Through the study of the history of New-ton’s laws, students will design, construct, and launch various types of experiments. Get ready for blast-off!

SAIL Odyssey of the Mind

Teacher: Megan Baum If you enjoy being creative and competing with others, then OOTM is for you! This class is

based on the international program that pro-vides creative problem solving opportunities through fun experiences. Students will work as teams to come up with ideas, build structures, and solve problems. Students will develop col-laboration skills using a myriad of hands-on and verbal spontaneous challenges that become more complex as the days go by. Think, Build and Escape

Do you like to build or create things or perhaps even unlock puzzles? Get your brains and hands ready for some exciting STEM, Maker Space, and Breakout activities! Prepare for a mental and physical adventure of building and creating items with Legos, various household items, and even technology! You are sure to be amazed at what you can do when you put your mind and hands to work. In fact, these skills will be utilized to participate in multiple class-room Breakouts where you will work with a team to solve puzzles to escape! World Cultures

Weird, Have you ever wanted to travel back in time & experience a whole different way of life? Students will be offered a hands-on experience, using replicas of art they have decorated them-selves to reflect the time periods & cultures from which the replicas originated. Through the study of artwork from different time periods & cultures, students will get to enjoy history from the inside. This will allow a cross-curricular approach to learning by incorporating English, Social Studies & Art Education Standards as well as creating

digital media.

Standing in the Spotlight

Teacher: Jamie Gurney

Do you often picture yourself motivating a crowd of people with a powerful speech? Have you ever wanted to experience original storytelling? Have you thought about writing your own drama and being one of your own actors? This class is for students who love an audience and would like to refine their speaking skills or gain confidence in front of a crowd. Students will spend time study-ing improv, storytelling, argument, and public speaking. There will be lots of fun exercises, games, and activities to boost confidence and speaking skills. In the final stretch of the pro-gram, students will write, design, and deliver their own presentations in front of a live audi-ence. Presentation ideas include but are not lim-ited to: a persuasive speech about a real-world problem, a short drama or skit, or oral reading of original stories.

What A Find

Teacher: Rebecca Zisko

Do you like to....Find things that are lost? Put pieces to-gether? Figure out stories from clues? Learn about the past? These are all things archaeologists, researchers, and history lovers do—maybe you’re one, too! Become a part of the team and investigate some of Earth’s greatest finds. Delve into scientific investigations of the archaeological processes, and help uncov-er an answer for the mysterious artifacts of the past.

Captains, Coastlines & Creatures

Teacher: Jessica Smith

Come aboard as we sail back to explore the gold-en age of piracy. We will explore the origins of pirates such as Blackbeard and Anne Bonny while learning about the fascinating life that they lived. Explore Carolina coastlines, map making and go on scavenger hunts. Create a sea shan-ty rap, pirate flags and get a hands-on experience with the sea creatures pi-rates encountered as they sailed the islands looking for treasures. So get ready matey as we weigh anchor for an exciting time!

Sports Newscasters

Ever dreamed of finding your face on a Wheaties Box? Move over CNN! This action-packed camp experience incorporates mathematics and technology using a variety of sports for spring boarding into learning fun. In this 3-week adventure, students will use their athletic talents to push their mathematical understanding to a new level. These Sports Newscasters will research famous athletes, measure and graph their own athletic accomplishments and create Media Guides and iMovies along the way. As Sports Newscasters, students experience the performance aspect of sports by creating their own persuasive commercial and producing, di-recting, or starring in a class version of Sports Center.
