We've had a really great and interesting Summer term with the group. This term we explored lots of different aspects of COMEDY – from the old Italian tradition of Commedia dell Arte to the classic physical comedy of silent films, right through to modern comedy legends like Victoria Wood and our presentation inspired by The Play That Goes Wrong. We have explored lots of scenes and characters and the group has been brilliant at coming up with their own ideas on how to make things hilarious and surprising. This has given us a real sense of how comedy works and how to maximize on the all important audience reaction.
It’s been particularly lovely to see the guys being so creative with their ideas this term; building characters, thinking about how to create the world of a play and how to translate that to an audience. Hopefully, our performance showing at the end of this term was a chance for you to see their hard work in action and for them to share the pieces they helped to build for the first time. We hope everyone has a great Summer and can’t wait to get going with Autumn term.
